Title: The word on the special, movie and future of TPB from Mike Clattenburg
Post by: shake on Nov 12, 2008, 07:39 AM
I just received this note on the future of the show directly from the source, these are the words of Mike Clattenburg.  The note was entitled "Thanks from Sunnyvale"

Over the past few months there has been a lot of discussion among our
fans and those in the media about the future of Trailer Park Boys.
Will there be another season, another special, another movie?  The
last thing we want to do is keep our loyal fans in the dark about the
show we have all loved doing for the past eight years, so wed like
now to shed some light.

We have a final one hour television special, Say Goodnight To The Bad
Guys, which goes to air on Showcase on Sunday, December 7, 2008.
Then after that, our sequel movie, Countdown To Liqour Day (working
title), is due to be released in Canadian theatres in October, 2009.

But, after that, there will be no more.  Yes, its the end of Trailer
Park Boys.  Our fans have been so supportive and inspiring,
particularly all of you at the org, that we wanted you to be the first
to know.  Much love and thanks from all of us at Sunnyvale Trailer Park.

Mike

Thank you Mike!

That's so awesome. We are very excited for the bad guys special in a few weeks. I bet the new movie will be great too.
As for the show ending, its disappointing we wont see as much of our favourite characters' mayhem. It is a good decision, I accept it more and more. Better for it to end this way than for the show to not reach it's potential.    :6paper::shock:

All good things must come to an end.

Although like rock bands, TV shows, and athletes
they may become bored/broke in a few years
and surprise us with an encore.

"Tall in the saddle
One of these days you're gonna have to dismount
You don't leave me downhearted
But I'm sorry that you had to go
'Cos we had fun, fun, fun, fun
Fun, fun, fun
We had fun while it lasted
We had fun while it lasted"

The show has brought a lot of joy into my life over the last few years in the form of laughter, the love for/from the friends I have made through the .ORG, and the adventures I have experienced through traveling to meet and hang out with some of those friends. For that, I will always be grateful to TPB. "Every end is a new beginning."

Very true DD it has brought so many of us together, and given me a lot of great memories.  It had a profound effect on my life in that regard.  The show was awesome but it will always be what happened outside of the show, mainly the people that I got to meet, both online and in person, and the good times that resulted from meeting those people that I will remember the most.

Thank you very much TPBs for making this all possible for us, I wish you all the best in the future!

There's no reason the end of the show should mean the end of our ORG friendships :)

Well fuck, the end of an era.

As much as we are all fighting the gut rot feeling of TPB coming to an end, it's probably best to put on a happy face and take it as it comes, because it would be impossible for these magnificent fellows not to go out with a bang!  The fuckin' way she goes, and as we near the end, I expect we are all in for one crazy ass ride through the shit winds on the Swayze Express!

Yeah......That's the way she goes, boys.......

I don't want to be a hate figure in the Org, but it's the right decision. Sadly, all good things really do come to an end. The boys and girls are going out while they're near the top of the pile of 'best TV comedies ever' imo. All the best to you guys and thanks again for making me laugh so much. I hope everybody goes on to do the things they want to do now....I'm looking forward to teh special and the second movie and to seeing you all in new projects. Be forever proud of TPB......you were just great x

Having just got into TPB boys in the UK (been through s1-5 in a week) i'm pretty disappointed it's ending. To be fair they could have probably bashed out series 8 as the seasons are so short anyway. However i haven't watched s6 &s7 yet and they might start to drag on a bit.
As a toast to the boys i'm genna get "as drunk as fuck" tonight.

Hope there is still activity on the forum though as I just joined and want to learn a bit more about the programme which takes time.

Trailer Park Boys, not just a TV series, it's a way of life.

BTW, if the second movie is a huge success i wouldn't rule out a third even if they say thats it , as this has happend quite a lot in the last (a la Jackass the movie, i'm sure there are more but i can't think of them),

But.... why is it so hard? I thought.. all they had to do was send some cameramen to film the boys.. that's not hard right?!?!?

They are rich now right? Why not film them in a rich community, see how that does...

Can't wait to see what they all get up to next, and I hope they continue to collaborate on new projects.

There was a time where we thought Season 7 was the last TPB project. This is good news that we have more still to come and plenty of warning about the actual end of the series.
Thanks to Mike Clattenburg and all the cast and crew for all they've done and for being the most "Fan Friendly" show in history. You guys are the best.
Keep us up to date on any other projects you're working on as we would like to support the players as well as the team.

Yeah. Even a rickyism in the intro. "Wer're Exposed to be rich now" Yeah I also agree that season 7 was starting to lose it so I think their choice to bow out now was a good one. At leat they have one final special to wrap thing up properly becasue this everything worked out good shit was not like them for season 6 and season 7. I enjoyed when everybody went to jail at the end of the season. Now this special I hope is going to wrap up their run proper with layhey being his drunk self and fucking around the boys as usual.

Definatly having chicken fingers and root beer when I go to watch the special (becasue I will be at school so I can't bring liquor onto the premisis).

Seems I've joined just as the show is being put to bed.

I have to say though that without Cory Trevor, there's a missing ingredient - like eating a steak without salt and pepper.

But I have the DVD's which I'll treasure and I'm sure we'll see new and independent works from this talented and unique cast and crew.

I'd love to see a black and white episode set 30 years in the future which shows the boys as elderly folk still selling their weed and brew in an old folks home.

call it: The man in the rocking chair.

Yes, there is a way for you to find out which episodes Showcase will air and what order.
If you go to the showcase.ca site and go to the TPB section, it will have a list of about a month's worth of upcoming episodes, the times and what they're called.

Hope that helps.

In the article it says 11 PM. This is because it's an East Coast paper. I guess if that's the case, the movie will be released September EST ;)

Don't listen to this Bull Shit! This posting is FALSE!
I know for a fact man, the boys will be back in the park.

No worries  Ricky & Julian are doing a deuce less in the can and will be out in 2010. They were busted for organizing a door to door kiddy chocolate bar sales ring. Claiming the kids were selling them for charity. They had sales teams all over Nova Scotia. It was fucking big time for a while.

Money talks, the boys will be back growing some good dope and this time Ricky will have his grade 11.

Hey Ricky!  Knock Knock, Who's there dick heads?  Fucking right on man You rock Ricky

I'm not sure about Showcase, Tiggy; but that's standard practice at "News" outlets here in the Amernicas (from what I can tell of my experience working for NBC for the last 6 months)

The small guys on the web with no official broadcasts/magazines/etc. may have some breaking news article but when we find it and bring it to our website we might even call it our very own "exclusive web release"  :o

I even see that happen locally with our competitors. Just the other weekend the CBS affiliate here in town covered a local interest story (tagged with their "ONLY ON" logos) that we had already reported on an hour earlier with our station's "YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST" branding. Its really all about branding and advertising, if you lie- no one notices because it's "The News" and the news can't lie, right?

Anyway, News is a friggin' competitive business. In retrospectics, I gotta say that I have mad wikked respect for Lou Grant and Mary Richards now.

This Segment of "Behind The News" Has Been Brought To You By Pizza Hut and your local Ford/Chevy Dealer!

So, with all this commotion over the cancellation of TPB- it would be awesome to see Mike C. or one of the boys make an appearance on "This Hour Has 22.." to poke some fun at that CBC News prick Jim Numb-nuts er whatever his friggin' name is.

I'm also curious to know what former CTV anchor Nancy Regan has to say about Nunn's hateful remarks toward Trailer Park Boys. (For those who don't know she appeared as a news reporter in the episode "Working Man") I bet she could do a damn better "investigative report" than that seagull-lookin'  spin-talkin' mahfacka!

P.S.
If Showcase or any other media entity wanted to do a true and unbiased story about the success of the show and the huge multi-national fan base of creative, intelligent, as well as drunk and stoned fucked-up people then they would most definitely as first order of business have to give a bigtime shout out to this website.

My personal thanks and a "Cheers Sunnyvale!" goin' out to our admins cat-dog & shake and all you sexy moderators and fellow members out there for keeping the .ORG alive n' kickin'! ;)

Peace! :)

Shit, no season 8.  Well at least we have the special, the new movie, and the boys on tour.

Now lets just cross our fingers and hope that we get a spin off, such as the The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Fun Time Hour

And how about some American syndication?  Every person that comes to my house for more than a few hours, leaves here wanting to watch the rest of TPB episodes.  The show sells itself, it just needs to be promoted a little bit in the US to make it a huge success.

Reminds me of this song

Dust in the Wind- Kansas

I close my eyes
only for a moment
and the moments gone
all my dreams
pass before my eyes a curiosity
dust in the wind
all we are dust in the wind

Same old song

just a drop of water
in the endless see
all we do
crumbles to the ground
though we refuse to see
dust in the wind

Now, don't hang on
nothing last forever
but the earth and sky
it slips away

And all your money
won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind
all we are dust in the wind
dust in the wind
dust in the wind

Were will an english guy be able to view the special when it comes out does any one know, plus will there be like a meet and greet for the movie premiere in canada.

Would have made sense if you patched a few slow motion snippets from tpb together and dubbed that song over, with an occasional show sound bleeding through.  in the last couple of seconds. each tpb person saying goodbye in one way or another.

Fuck sakes!! Well I'm glad that you guys made as many episodes you did, and I appreciate that Showcase gave the show a chance and allowed it to air for so long (many networks wouldn't have "understood" the show, and would have cancelled it much earlier). I'm also glad that I was able to skip out of work early and make it to The Big Dirty press conference in Toronto and see the cast, and that I got to see Mr. Lahey & Randy perform at Yuk Yuk's. I think it's great news that it's not -completely- over, in that we still get a TV special and another feature movie!

TPB is SO Canadian, and I'm proud that I can identify so closely with you hosers.

TORONTO - They may be tough-talking hooligans, but the Trailer Park Boys say they're feeling a little emotional as their TV series comes to an end next month.
The actors that portray the pot-smoking Julian, Ricky and Bubbles were in Toronto on Thursday to promote the final episode of their mockumentary-style series, which revolves around the trio's outlandish money-making schemes in the fictional Sunnyvale trailer park.
"I'm sad, I'd like to do more," comedian Mike Smith, who plays Bubbles, said while sipping a glass of tequila in a downtown hotel room.
"It's a fun job and it's too bad that it's coming to an end."
Seated next to his castmates John Paul Tremblay, who plays the buff petty criminal Julian, and Robb Wells, who plays the hotheaded Ricky, Smith said they learned of the show's end only a day before the news was posted on the "Trailer Park Boys" website two weeks ago.
"It definitely had nothing to do with us," Wells said of the unexpected decision to halt production.
He said the producers held a brief meeting with the cast, but even after that the show's stars were still unclear about the reasons for ending the popular Showcase series.
"Basically they didn't go into great detail," said Wells, nursing a glass of whiskey during the interview.
Calls to the show's producers were not immediately returned.
Wrapped in a hotel bathrobe and sporting his character's trademark pompadour, Wells said rumours of the show's demise had swirled before but turned out to be unfounded. And when the team gathered this past summer to shoot a feature film, tentatively titled "Trailer Park Boys - Countdown to Liquor Day," things went so smoothly Wells assumed that another full season of episodes would follow.
"Everybody seemed to get along so well and gel so well," said Wells, who also serves as writer on the show, along with Smith and Tremblay.
"The energy was very positive and the mood was very positive. I thought maybe after that that we would continue and maybe do at least another special or a movie or some more episodes."
"(But) from what we're told the door is pretty closed and locked."
After seven seasons, "The Trailer Park Boys" comes to an end with the one-hour television special "Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys" on Dec. 7.
It picks up one year after the last season left off, with Ricky, Julian and Bubbles poised to enjoy the riches from their latest caper. Julian has stashed the loot for safekeeping, but he and the boys are ambushed just as they are about to retrieve it.
Mayhem ensues in typical trailer park fashion - Julian tries to redeem himself with another harebrained scheme, Ricky blows up during a greasy encounter with the shirtless, potbellied Randy, and Bubbles gets caught in the middle. Meanwhile, the trailer park's drunk supervisor, Mr. Lahey, orchestrates his nastiest plan yet to put the boys away for good.
Though the TV show is ending, fans can catch the boys in a cross-Canada live show in January and February.
"The Ricky, Julian and Bubbles Community Service Variety Show" features the boys supposedly fulfilling court ordered community service to demonstrate the dangers of using alcohol and drugs.
That will be followed by the new feature film, expected to hit theatres in fall 2009.
Meanwhile, Smith says he, Wells and Tremblay are angling to return to TV with another comedy as soon as they can.
"We're just sort of in the development stages of it now but you will hopefully hear about it soon," said Smith.
"It's kind of all over the place really. We're each going to play several different characters, so it's pretty broad and hopefully fresh, which it is."
Smith said they'd like to shoot a demo early next year in Halifax and were aiming to have something on the air in 2010.
And although he is looking forward to new opportunities, Smith said he hopes "The Trailer Park Boys" leaves a long legacy with fans.
"I think it'll be remembered as a show that came out of left field and broke a lot of rules and probably wasn't expected to do very well by a lot of people," he said.
"Hopefully people will remember it like that - that it was different than anything that had been on Canadian TV before."

Weird though, you'd think the boys would be told what was going on, seeing as they, uhh, only star in it and co-write it and eat, sleep and drink it (and maybe smoke it).  Not like they're heavily involved or anything.

Hi there, gang.

i forgot my org. password, otherwise i would have written ages ago. i just wanted to write a note about us wrapping up our little show.

the writing has been on the wall for a long time regarding us stopping shooting before we ran out of steam, so when the final decision came down a couple of weeks ago, i was not shocked or floored. i remember a few years ago we all (cast and producers) started talking about when would be the right time to stop making tpb, and i thought that season 7 was going to be the end...then we shot a special...then the second film. i was in fact a little surprised that we went ahead with the second film, and i am really glad we did. and, it feels like i am breaking up with a boyfriend, i am a little heartbroken that we are finished, but i know personally i have to do other stuff. there is a generation of kids i want to teach. gay but true.

tpb has been a really wonderful project to be involved with. i adore the crew who have built this world. i have met some amazing fans. i have had the luxury of glimpsing into mike c's very lush and fucked up (in the good way) brain. he plucked each and every one of us out of our worlds to help make this alternate reality which has hit home with an incredible number of people. without him, this would have never ever been possible. he was the one who had to steer our voices to make these characters come alive. he was the one obsessed with cats. he was the one who thought guts were, for no good reason, funny as shit.

so thanks everyone for getting behind what we have been trying to make. i remember the day we starting thinking about the fans, rather than just thinking about what we think would float as being funny. thanks to sarah and torrens and jeanna and the rest of the cast for being generous and kind, sometimes to a fault. huge kudos to the crew who are the real heroes of this clusterfuck.

it is the helecopters who fucked up a zillion takes who can bite me.

so thanks again.

take it easy

Hey Lucy.  Thanks for dropping by the ORG to leave us a message.  I hope you check back for your fans, including me.   :perv1:  TPB is so avant-garde, that it's watched all around the world.  Thanks for all your work to make such a great show that brought people together.

I have a question that maybe you can answer, how did TPB decide to use the names of characters they did.  For example, both you and Sarah use your real names in the show.  Any reason for that?

From the article:

"'It definitely had nothing to do with us,' Wells said of the unexpected decision to halt production."

Hmm.

That was a very interesting read... Seems like the boys still wanted to keep the showing going at least a little longer, but not everyone was on the same page about it I suppose. It's great to hear that they are working on a new project, I am looking forward to hearing more details about it in the future.

That's cool of you to take the time to give us your personal take on the show's end Lucy. I totally understand that you guys wanted to go out on top, before the show could have potentially became a little stagnant or lost it's edge... Perhaps if the special does well and the new movie coming out next year draws lots of people, you guys could always come out with a special re-union episode down the road, or perhaps even another feature film... Since learning of the show's conclusion a couple of weeks ago, I took some time to look into other films cast members have worked on.

For example, I checked out the bloody horror/thriller "Stuck" that was filmed in St. John, NB that featured John Dunsworth in a small role as a cab driver, and starred Mena Suvari and Stephen Rea. It was very solid film, which I'd recommend to anyone who doesn't mind a bit of blood and gore... I also watched "Juno" with Ellen Page for the first time last night, and thought it was a very well made film, that hit home on a lot of very relevant everyday issues for many people. Definitely give it two thumbs up! I saw the trailer for "A Bug And A Bag Of Weed" on Youtube this past week, and thought it looked like a very funny film. I'm looking forward to the DVD release early next year. I'd love to see that short film "One Last Shot" by Mike Clattenburg from '98 if it was at all possible. Anyone have any idea if it will available in any format in the future, or in the present? :P

Anyway I can't wait for the new movie coming out next fall, and the best part is me and my roommate have been planning to move out to New Brunswick next summer and look for a house, so we'll be able to go check out the movie down in Halifax when it comes out, which should be awesome. 8)

Best of luck to you Lucy in your future endeavors, and to the rest of the cast of this ground breaking and highly entertaining Canadian comedy classic!

This sad news dragged me out of my hole and back onto the internet again !
Nothing I can add, except that we are all the better for the past seasons of TPB's.
The very best of luck to all who helped put it together.
Respect :-)

I live in the USA and HATE television, in fact I don't think there is any show I've watched more than one episode of in the past 5 years. One day last summer I stumbled across Trailer Park Boys on youtube and was hooked immediately, within 2 days I watched all 7 seasons and the movie, so sad to see my now favorite show ever come to a end  :(

Alexei,

I'm also late to the TPB.  I discovered it just a few weeks ago and was immediately hooked.

Considering my other favourite show is Boston Legal, this was a huge departure from my regular fair.  I've been unemployed since August and I suppose it made me realize that life could be worse and in a way, TPB lifted me from my funk.

I start a new job next week.

As I said recently in a post over at the National Post,

there but for the grace of God go I.

Good luck with the new job, but what made me love the show is I actually live in a Trailer Park, only work 6 hours a week and have made nothing of my life, basically the "Ricky" character showed me I am not all that bad of a person despite what the rest of society thinks  :headbang:

Thanks Alexei, looks like we all learned a little bit more of ourselves by letting the TPB into our lives.

I caught my first TPB on BBCA..at around 3:15 AM. I couldn't sleep and it was Monday morning nothing but Infomercials were on. The episode was where Ricky and Lucy get married, even though I only caught the last 15 minutes...I was hooked. IMHO this show will be a Classic TV show in years to come...it's friggin' brilliant

I've been a bit up and down about the whole thing, I knew it was coming to an end. Season 7 was the least watched season for me, I've watched each season over and over and over but when Corey and MJ left, I think I just couldn't really be that arsed about the show.

Phil Collins is a fuckin' idiot, shit character to be on the show full time and Sebastian Bach? I mean, what the fuck. That guy brought nothing to the show.

I'll be sad to see it go, It's been my favourite show since the first movie, I'll really miss it. But I'd rather it stop than continue if season 8 would of been anything like season 7.

Thank you Lucy for  what feels to me like Parting words.
Media and direct connection is a magical thing.
For the actors, actresses and the gathering it can create.
You know nothing of me I know only the person you portrayed.
I will miss you and your work.

Seven years I watched this show alone in Texas and no one
knew what the heck I was talking about. One day I met someone
who just seemed to click. I showed her the show, she showed her friends
There are now a bunch of people I know that love the show.
There was even a Halloween theme.
No better time for it to all happen than in the end. So for me it has been a ride
that ended happy.
Love you all ( not like love love but like like love ). And thank you for what you have given.
You could not have been a better matched crew.

Nice feature today from CBC:

You don’t need to be a hoser to love the popular Canadian TV show Trailer Park Boys — but speaking as a small-town hoser myself, it doesn’t hurt. Since its 2001 debut, Trailer Park Boys has acted as cultural adrenaline to fun-starved Canadian audiences.

Showcasing the illicit antics of three petty crooks — Ricky, Julian and Bubbles — this gleeful buddy comedy is set in Sunnyvale, a trailer park in Nova Scotia. Trailer Park Boys is heartfelt and always ridiculous, but it’s the show’s anti-consumer, anti-lifestyle approach that truly sets it apart. Sunnyvale’s down-at-the-heels-and-loving-it philosophy has been a welcome reprieve in a consumer-driven cultural climate where the tapas dish is considered essential to civilization, and where too many TV shows serve as nothing more than advertisements for clothing, music and shoes.

Created by director Mike Clattenburg, the show won a Gemini Award for Best Comedy Series in 2004, the same year it became the highest rated Canadian show on specialty television. Now, after seven seasons, this homegrown hit is coming to an end. Actors and frequent show co-writers Mike Smith (Bubbles), Robb Wells (Ricky) and John Paul Tremblay (Julian) stepped out of character to discuss the unexpected end of one of Canada’s most successful TV shows.

Q: Trailer Park Boys comes to an end on Dec. 7 after seven seasons. Why now?
RW: Well… [Laughs] We haven’t really been told exactly [the whole reason why it’s ending now] — that’s probably more a producer question.

Q: You guys are also writers. Did you have input in the last episode?

RW: No, not for the special so much, no. Mike [Clattenburg], the director, and I believe Timm [Hannebohm] — they wrote the episode. At the time, I don’t think it was intended to be the final one.

Q: So the end has come as a bit of a surprise?
RW: A little bit. We’ve suspected that it was coming the last couple of years. But we don’t really know exactly. We just had a very brief call with the producers. We’re hoping to get an explanation at some point [and hear] exactly what the details are.

Q: The show’s been a success in Canada, which isn’t known for its edgy TV culture. Why is it so hard to make good TV here?
MS: Hmm. We’re stumped. [All laugh.]

RW: It’s definitely hard. [The show is] just trying to break some of those rules. All of the shows made [when we started] seem to have the same old formula … We were being very different. Now there are a few new shows out trying to push things a little differently.

Q: The show features some funny visual gags, like seeing people spark cigarettes with barbecue lighters and drink out of cut up pop bottles. How do you come up with those details?
MS: Most of that stuff just comes from growing up in rural Canada. Everybody I know always lit cigarettes with barbecue lighters, people cut two-litre bottles of pop in half and drank out of them…

RW: Or used piss jugs.

MS: Or used piss jugs. Go to any town in rural Canada and you’ll see that kind of stuff. It’s sort of part of our culture.

Q: One of the things that has always struck me is that Trailer Park Boys represents poverty, but not in a depressing way.
RW: It’s neat to look at poverty in a positive way. A guy can live in his car and that’s all he needs to be happy, as long as he has food and his family. So many people want to have so much money, and all these bills and everything else cause so much stress in their lives, and these people [on the show], their lives are so simple and they’re much happier in many ways.

Q: All of you have played these characters for a while — are you sick of them yet?
MS: No, it’s fun. We don’t do it probably as much as it appears. They are fun characters to do. That’s not to say that we don’t want to pursue other things and try and play other characters, but these particular ones are fun because we improv a lot. We just try to make each other laugh when we’re doing live shows or live TV.

Q: The show aired on BBC America in 2004 to mixed reviews. Do Americans get Trailer Park Boys?
MS: Yeah, I think they get it. I think the problem was they were forced to bleep [Trailer Park Boys] and once you do that to the show, it changes the show’s whole feel, because the swearing isn’t a punch line — it’s the way we talk. But when you bleep it, it becomes a punch line. It really stands out and changes the feel of the show.

Q: Why did they bleep the show in the first place?
MS: That Janet Jackson thing at the Super Bowl — her costume malfunction or whatever they called it — the CRTC or whatever it’s called in the U.S. cracked down big time, and they were going to fine networks for swearing. They screened one of our episodes and it was going to cost like a million dollars to air it.

Q: Did that teach you something about making future deals with U.S. networks?
MS: Yeah. [The show] starts airing down there in January on Direct TV, and it’s not going to be bleeped. We’re looking forward to seeing how that goes.

Q: Robb, you worked on the script for the Trailer Park Boys movie, The Big Dirty. What did you learn from that experience?
RW: We learned a great deal. The major thing was [that] it wasn’t true to what we wanted as a film of Trailer Park Boys. There was a lot of influence. It was in collaboration with Ivan Reitman’s company and he was fabulous to work with. But their idea of Trailer Park Boys and our ideas were two different things.

Q: I can see that, that there’s a different vision infiltrating in a way in the film.
RW: It is what it is and it was a great experience. The second movie [the upcomingCountdown to Liquor Day] is more true to what we’ve always wanted for Trailer Park Boys.

Q: What future plans do you have as individuals?
MS: We’re stumped again. The three of us are working together on different things. We’re trying to develop a new TV show, working on a couple of screenplays. We have an office in Dartmouth and we meet up every day and work. Everything is still sort of in the early stages. But we have big aspirations.

Q: So, you’d like to come back to TV?
RW: We’d like to do more Trailer Park Boys as well.

Q: Mike, you went on tour with Axl Rose in July 2007. What was that like?
MS: It was crazy. I was only supposed to go for a couple of shows. I ended up getting drunk and staying for two months. Axl is quite an interesting dude to hang out with.

Q: Was your Trailer Park Boys experience good preparation for being on tour with Axl?
MS: Yeah, I mean I was in pretty good drinking shape from Trailer Park tours. Guns ‘N Roses don’t hold back. They know how to go full tilt.

Q: What are you going to miss most about filming the show?
MS: It’s just a really fun job. We get to go to this trailer park and hang out with our friends and laugh all day, which is basically what we do. It’s hard work but that’s what I’ll miss most about it. That was our job and it’s a really good job. You get to go and goof around all day.

RW: I’m going to miss the whole creative process, but mostly the cast and crew.

JPT: Same thing. You go to work every day and you try and make each other laugh and few people can say that these days.

MS: What other job can J.P. go to and take his shirt off and rub oil all over his muscles?

JPT: That’s a good part of it, I guess.

Q: What aren’t you going to miss?
RW: Lots of things I can’t tell you.

MS: This guy that’s always on set and every day he’d jab me with a sharp stick. I’m not going to miss that guy.

JPT: Randy [played by Patrick Roach]. He’s all oily and sweaty: it’s like hugging a baloney log.

It's a joke, a setup for the Tory Park Boys pic.  Tories are what the old Progressive Conservative party were called.  For some reason some people still call the new Conservatives, the Tories but that is wrong, this new party is really just the Reform Party, the Tories don't exist anymore.  For the sake of the joke though Tory Park Boys sounds funny.

Clattenburg is not selling the rights.

I enjoyed it but was disappointed about a few things. If this is truly the last outing I felt that most the cast members didn`t get their last bow like they should have.We love all these people they were the glue of the show.Cyrus who is one of my favorite characters had his part reduced to a quick walk by at the end.Sam got totally screwed.Sara & Lucy deserved bigger parts & George Green got kiboshed. No real closure at the end except for Bubbles who looked like he was hooking up at the end.I would have liked it if he had actually found his parents & told the greasy bastards off.The Boys were great & Lahey & Randy was a pleasant surprise.Best work you`ve done Pat!! The Boys lent up in jail again? Kind of lame.
The movie needed more cowbell. lol

They are rich now right? Why not film them in a rich community, see how that does...
Too funny, I was thinking the same thing!  have them hit the lotto or something Live in a gated community Ricky has a brand new car that slowly regress to the shape of his old one oh well..

Ditto guys,  everyone here hopes for a new special, or the third movie.  Seems like a smash hit to me, but sad to say, no such thing is in sight at this time, but maybe some day, maybe some way. :6paper:
The powers that be will post it here though if anything ever even starts to be considered.
The ORG is central to fans who keep an eager ear to the wall.

Trailer Park Boys should never end. As long as there's cheeseburgers, liquor and dope there should be a Trailer Park Boys. New people should be moving into the park. Trinity should be getting pregnant. Trailer Park Boys should be passed down from generation to generation like Roots.
I swear, if they won't do it I'll write and publish my own comic book adventures of the Boys.
"This isn't intellectual property theft. I'm basically borrowing these guys for a few hours. No big deal."

7 years is a pretty good run as far as TV goes.I`ll miss it too but maybe the players & Clatts just wanted to move on & do something else.

Ok, first of all no season was what I would call a full season.  The episodes were low in number.  I understand a movie came up in those seasons but that was ONE season.  What's the real back story?  In the latest video I saw of the boys they all would do more but "it wasn't up to them".  Who is it up to?  Clattenberg?  Did his divorce have something to do with the rights to the series?  Settlement money an issue?  She did  narrate a special, Hearts of Dartmouth.

I mean something is up that isn't being put out there.  The boys can tour as "Trailer Park Boys" Ricky, Julian and Bubbles.  Lahey and Randy can tour, they will all come together This year for a Christmas show.  So what is the road block?  Showcase own a few years of rights if the show is resurected?  Somebody out there knows.  Why won't anybody say?

As to "Why won't anybody say"

I thought Clattenburg summed it up quite nicely already.  And it wasn't just his decision, pretty well everybody wanted to move on.

I know the boys got to live and touring is part of it but they can't do it without Clattenberg?  They only tour to earn a pay check?  Come on.  I'm not buying that.  Somebody is being a stick in the mud.

I buy it.  They continue to tour for the pay check and the fun, but creatively they collectively want to do other things.  Live shows in a theater are a lot different than committing to a whole season.

I think the whole thing is a lot more complex than one or a few people getting in the way of making more shows. It's complicated...

Conky probably owns a 5 share alone.  And what about Fruit Jacks media circus? John Lennon may have been seen in the company of one Alex Lifeson.  I believe.

Well, ok.  Lennon was out there, but I put the Clattenburg clan as 2 of numerous parties involved, who need or want something that stops continuation, on film, under contracts, for years more to come, after 7 years creating the same one event.  I really believe a cartoon is in their future.

I must say THANK YOU to Mike Clattenburg, Rob Wells, John P Trembly, Mike Smith, Pat Roach, John Dunsworth, Sara, Lucy, and the entire cast and crew of TPB. The series  and the movies ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST.  I'd love to have you all do another movie, and that's entirely selfish, I know. But you guys are so funny and your characters are so well developed, it's seems a shame not to do so!

Wishing you the best (and hoping you will consider another TPB movie),
Ness
PS: my wife agree---we have never seen a group SO professionally developed, enduring and endearing, in any other series.

Mike was smart to stop when he did. You gotta leave them laughing instead of chugging on til you become a joke. And not the good kind... :(
Anyway, I have my Cheeseburger Locker full of TPB and can open it whenever I want.
Peace
xxoo

I'm just going to add  my 2 pence worth, so to speak. A cartoon, awful idea!
Perhaps now they have all tried other things, they've got it out their system. It seems to me that the cast enjoy being in TPB, so it must be more than just a pay cheque.
Sit around the table and hash it out, that would be my advise to them. I'm happy to mediate.
I'm sure it's financially viable, the touring will have enhanced that. There I've said my bit and I feel better for it. Love and peace to everyone x

I like it this way. It was initially sad to see the series come to an end. However without being tied into a season, everybody involved are more free to do other projects as well as reunite once in awhile to collaborate on some Sunnyvale projects, like the movies or the tours.

But if the boys were still tied in to the Trailer Park Boys series they wouldn't have been free to focus their full attention to Drunk and On Drugs. Nor would they have been free to do the touring they've been doing. Or in the case of Robb Wells he may not have been able to shoot Hobo, Beatdown, Jackhammer. Mike Smith wouldn't have been free to tour with G'n'R or make his upcoming films.

Likewise for Sir Clattenburg he wouldn't have been able to bring us Afghan Luke nor the upcoming Men Who Move Furniture.  It's really a winning situation for everyone now because we get to experience other facets of people's talents. Yet we can still celebrate the Sunnyvale characters via DVD's and tours.

My Rusty Two Cents.

That's a fair two cents.  Well done.

Honestly, the only thing that really leaves me unfulfilled, is that I never got to see them be popular here in the States.  I've turned some friends on to them in the past, but except for their stint on Kimmel, it's really been kinda dry down here.  It's too bad.  Other than that, I also think Clattenburg was smart to end it when he did, and countdown to Liquor Day was the perfect way to wrap the series!

Yeah I got to agree the market for TPB boys in the United States is wide open. Being from the south I knew people from trailer parks and all the same shit from the show goes down in them. I got a cousin who goes to jail every 6 months or so lives in a trailer park smokes weed and grows it. Whose that sound like...

Sometimes I think they need better media for the states and a channel that will play the episodes the whole way though...I'm positive if they got the exposure they would be huge in the states. We all like to smoke weed and get drunk and laugh in the USA.

Either way one of the funniest shows I've ever watched and i'm from Chicago, IL. So big props to everyone involved with the show and don't think it could'nt get HUGE in the States.
