Title: Songs Of the Show Index- Song FAQ (Place your Song Questions Here please)
Post by: jakemaster1390 on Jul 17, 2008, 12:23 AM
Universal Notes about the Music Used

Anything mentioning Buck 65, The Titles are still unknown and in the credits of the show it is listed as Trick Pony or Stinkin' Rich. These songs are exclusively written for the show by and then identified in a commentary by Mike Clattenburg that it was Stinkin' Rich AKA Buck 65 that gave his these to use so they might not be available on his albums. I will later think up a system to differentiate between the different loops used that are Buck 65's until the names can be found

Please Note that the raps featured in the show most likely use standard beats that for a fee (As commented on for J-roc's remix of trailer park life in Trailer Park Boys: The Movie in the commentary by Mike Clattenburg) can be used by any rap artist so the beats can be heard in many other raps. What I base my song determinations on are mostly Lyrics and then beats, and also the Raps Used were Credited to Trick Pony AKA Buck 65 and all shows by law must credit where the music has originated especially who wrote the lyrics.

For each time a song is used in an episode, there will be a description of the scene that it is played, a time within that scene that the song is played (Using the title time instead of chapter time) and the title and who it is done by if known.

Richard Terfry(Aka Buck 65) list of stage names

Other Posts Quoted Due To Move from another Topic because I was forced to reformat.

This might be a little off topic but is there anywhere to download or buy the so called "dirty beats" and rap songs from the season 1/2 dvd menus and from J-Rocs porno shoots?

So far no. Alot of people in this forum have tried to locate the songs used by buck 69, aka Stinkin' rich and so foar nobody has had any luck. And also according to the commentaries on the season 1/2 DVD, It sounded like these were specially written for the show. But thanks for puting your query here. That's Also What I Intended for this index to do.

For anyones interest. I have found a version of closer to the heart involving bubbles playing a six string Guitar.

will double check before making changes. I have a feeling some of the beats used in the show are standard OLP Rap beats that for a bit of a payment you can use (Like The version of Trailer Park Life in the movie- they said that they had to pay money to use the beat)so many rap artists use them but I need to compare Lyrics before I make any definate changes (I know where on the DVD's that they use them with Lyrics.

Yo can someone please help me I want a download link for the song Rick Jeffery - I'm Old (You're Young) please! and also I need someone to let me know what is the song when Ricky and Julian are in the car givin money to the biker in the black and white pilot movie!?! it's really good I think it's Michael Jackson but I want the song it's good it goes like she makes time for meeeeeeeeeee! For the First song edit, Same beat but different Lyrics. I am going to have to figure something out then.

Same thing for the other song, Smae beat but different lyrics.

I think for most of the unidentifiable sources of music, they are standard beats, but for me it is the Lyrics that count as to be original. I think it will remian standing. But if other songs have the same beats feel free to post them here

I suggest for the Buck65 songs, to simply get in touch with him, maybe he will dig them up if enough of you are interested- shoot him an email here: bucksixfiver@gmail.com

He's also on facebook and does read his messages from time to time.

I dont think he would mind given that a lot of you are genuinely interested in his music. :)

Thanks for that. Yeah i agree the beat is very similar but there is one portion that does not get used. I think it may be a standard beat used but I think it not the song we are looking for because I notice after the fourth repetition, There is a change in the beat and the stuff used in the episode only kept repeating the same thing unless they cut out Those changing beats and I highly doubt it because they must list some sort of credit for the songs that they use And they Only List Trick pony Which was Found out to be Buck 65, But it was nice to hear.

No Problem. Though I wish I did have the names to the original raps used and was even in contact with the artist that did them but it was so long ago that he couldn't remember them himself. The other songs were not so hard since they are used over and over again so I just had to look to later seasons to get the song names because the earlier seasons they are bad for not listing the song names in the credits

Yo What ep are you talking about and if it is the special I think you are talking about there are three songs that are playing at different times that are in the washroom with layhey so about what time is it. Also look above under the episode under the section movies and specials and I do have all the songs listed for that episode because in the bathroom they switch between J-rocs Microphone assassin Rap, 2108 [Bounce Wimmie Now], The Craz anthem and original music so to be sure I need the time.

yeh sorry it's the last special...let me get it on and find out exactly.  thanks so much for finding all of them.  being a musician i fucking go crazy for new good music because there is so little of it out there.  i think it's the second one you stated.  it's the best part of that bathroom scene where he is eating the bologna sandwich and trying to get up to make the call.  I must have that song to play over and over.  ok it's the part where he is drinking the ray's liquor sauce while laying down.  I really want that song.  can you tell lol? :bigleaf:

If it is the second one you are talking about [Bounce Wimmie Now] then it uses samples from The Tragically Hip's 'Ahead By A Century' an awesome song.  Of course 3 members of the Hip appeared in the special :)

There is the beat for when Julian and Ricky are in the car talking about spider mites.  I mixed it myself, recorded it from a song then compiled it.  Thanks for all the info guys!

Just watching the Hour and They are interveiwing Rich Terfry aka Buck 65. in his bio they said that he recorded 17 albums and some of them under different names and is currently Hosting a show called The Drive on CBC Radio 2 between 3 and 6 pm.

Other than Buck 65, He Went under the Names Stinkin Rich, DJ Critical, Achilles and Uncle Climax.

By the way it looks Buck 65 is his producer Name, Stinkin' Rich is the Writer/ Rapper(MC) name and DJ Critical is his DJ Name.

Stinkin' Rich stuff was released under murder Records though I am trying to Locate samples from all his songs from his 17 records to see if any of the ones used in tpb are on there.

I'd like to know that too.  It does sound like Rick Jeffery and or Dutch Mason.  As the credit roll they do play a credited song by Garrett Mason, Dutch's son so it may be him.

I listened to most of the Dutch catalog..  Doesn't seem to be him.  It sounds a lot like Rick Jeffery but I'm limited to the few songs posted on youtube...  Hopefully the song will be posted in this thread when music credit list is ready...  I wonder why it's not in the credits...

Being busy as of late I have not been able to take time to update this index with the new movie. I am also wondering which songs belong to which credits so I must take the time to update these listings.  I will have to double check but I have a feeling that why this music is not credited in the credits is that it may be an original composition that has a feeling like we have heard it before so it is included under the credit for Blain morris. Also it may also be an obscure part of a song that is already listed but I will have to do further research when I get Time (Which maybe will be in a week for me because of my reading week).

Update

Started going over the episodes again and making changes to some of the songs that still needed identification. After friday I will have plenty of time to go over the movie and make this listing as complete as I can.

In the scene in S01E03 where the boys are driving to get hydro gear, the beat is actually done by DJ Premier. He is one of the most legendary and respected producers/beatsmiths in hiphop worldwide.

I've got the song, and I'll post it. I don't remember the standard version (who's MCing on it, tec.), but I'll find out.
Title: Re: Songs Of the Show Index- Song FAQ (Place your Song Questions Here please)

If the person MC'ing the original beat is Gangstarr (Duo containing DJ premier), I think it is close to what is used in episode but what is used in the show is MC by Buck 65 under one of his different stage handles. I will agree with you though that the beat is probably DJ Premier's but from listening to the song So What's up (one of his songs as part of the duo Gangstarr) I think that the beat has slightly been modified for what is used in the show. If you listen closely to the beat in the one used in the show, There is no double drum beat in the repeat of the beat like DJ Premier. Also if you happen to have the DVD, turn on the commentary becasue Clattenburg will tell you (and it is during that scene) that the Raps were Done by Stinkin' Rich (aka Trick Pony as credited in the credits and Buck 65 as the stage name he is better known for)
Title: Re: Songs Of the Show Index- Song FAQ (Place your Song Questions Here please)
Post by: grandgroove on Mar 06, 2010, 01:48 AM
No, the scene I'm talking about is just a straight instrumental being played in Julian's truck as they're driving to pick up some gear. It's a Premo joint that he did for another rapper. I've got the full track on a stack of white label 12" instrumentals I picked up a few years back.

Much love to Guru and DJ Premier for their Gangstarr work.

Something else I noticed: the synth melody for the Planet Rock track used in TPB varies from the original. If memory serves correct, the original synth melody on the actual Bambaataa song was taken from Kraftwerk. Maybe they thought there'd be a stink over using the original melody? Just a thought...

Drumroll please...the artist is the Canadian Blues singer Garrett Mason and the song is called Howlin' for my Baby.  But wait you won't find it on Napster so good luck downloading it for .99 cents. However, you are in luck.  Here is a myspace link [http://www.myspace.com/garrettmasonmusic] to sample some of the artist greatest hits. Yeah J-Roc has great taste in music he also sampled the Our Lady Peace, another great Canadian band, song Life in Trailer Park Life.

MJ sent me the tracks used in the '99 plot and a few episodes in Season 1. The Quaker's In The House is in the background of all the Cory & Trevor interviews in the original '99 plot, and it's used in that season 1 scene where they pull up to Lahey's checkpoint at night and Ricky drops a "Oh for fuck's sakes". Mike Day is the name of the track Julian plays in his Corvette in the scene with the Motorcycle Dick in the original '99 plot. It's also in the BG of the Season 1 scene where Julian's shaving and talking about how Mrs. Peterson thinks he's her grandson. I got them on Dropbox, if it's cool with you guys I can link them. I think MJ wouldn't mind, since he sent me them in a .zip.
