Title: TPB Movie Updates & Info - Movie to be released October 6, 2006
Post by: Shit machine gun on Apr 28, 2005, 02:24 PM
http://jam.canoe.ca/Movies/2005/04/28/1016998-cp.html (http://jam.canoe.ca/Movies/2005/04/28/1016998-cp.html)

[mod]The link above is no longer active but more info is in this thread.  The movie will be released October 6, 2006.  Despite what was written about the movie on the IMDB site the movie is not a prequel, rather they have announced it will be independent of the TV show storyline. It will still be all the characters, and themes you love, but a knowledge of the tv series will not be required to follow the storyline of the film. [/mod]

Just read the article, enjoyed the info.  But I gotta say, I'm worried about the movie.  I'm not a big fan of prequels.   For example, I've heard that this movie will explain how Julian and Ricky meet Bubbles. In the eppy about Randy's Barbeque, Constable Erica Miller asks Julian how long he's lived in the park and he says 32 years.  So therefore, he has know Bubbles his whole life, right?  For fans of the show, won't the inconsistencies be annoying?  Just a thought.

I haven't seen anything about the movie being a prequel.  They did that with the xmas special.  I doubt they'd do it again.  But the xmas special was as good as any episode I've ever seen.

I'll for sure go and see it and buy the DVD and all that,  but I see it probably going down in the Canadian film history books along side "Duct Tape Forever & Strange Brew".

(Not that there's anything wrong with those two movies I just don't see this film winning any major awards)

From IMDb:

Plot Outline: Set before the events of the "Trailer Park Boys" Television show. The pot smoking, rum drinking Ricky and Julian are released from prison where they meet Bubbles for the first time and eventually come to live in the Sunnyvale Trailer Park.

Again, hmmm...  :-k

Excellent Article, I think this makes it very clear to all the people that were worried that the boys would sell out and become Hollywood have NOTHING to fear.

I think the following points from the article should put all the Chicken Littles to rest:

"I think the screenplay ... focuses the things that you've all come to love in the show in a way that will work, both for their historical audience and for audiences that have never seen or heard them before."

Promoters of the movie, set for Canadian release in mid-2006 by Motion Picture Distribution LP, promise more of the same, only "with crazier antics, better dope, stronger language ... and the mother of all scams."

Clattenburg said the movie will be produced on a relatively small budget of under $5 million Cdn.
"So the film will still be a low-budget feel and look -- it's one of the charms of the (TV) series, we'll always keep it."

"I think the film will be an R-rated film," said Reitman. "There's been no attempt to change the tone of the movie from the tone of the television show."

Actually I found where you got that p_s

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425601/

I wouldn't take that info as gospel, look what else it says...

Production Notes/Status:
Status:   Pre-production
Comments:
Status Updated:   13 September 2004
Note:   Since this project is categorized as being in production, the data is subject to change; some data could be removed completely.

That may be out of date already, they may be going in a different direction.

I wouldn't trust IMDB for the plot outlines.  It's usually posted by someone like us.  I couldn't trust us as far as I could throw myself.  I honestly don't see another prequel.

Can you imagine the backlash on the .ORG if they had any inconsistencies?  We already trash every little thing they do if we see something off.

My prediction for the movie, big dope sale, road trip, more guns, maybe some boobies for bubbles, more swearing, a few canadian celeb cameos (cheech, kids in the hall guys, rita mcneil).

They are going to want to come up with something original.  Making a half season into a movie would be like wasting ideas that could be used for a new season.  All depends how this season and next ends.  The movie won't be out until 2007 anyway.  Lets' get in line now.

If they tape season 6 this summer for show next april 2006, then shoot the movie next summer, no way it's ready for mid 2006, early 2007 at the earliest.  Plus they'll have to make room in the sched for season 7 (if there is)

Quote from the article :

During interviews in Halifax, Reitman declined to explain why he thinks the TV show is funny.

Why would he not ?
Perhaps he never saw the show ? Perhaps he does not like it but is just doin it for the money ?

If you can think of any valid reason that he would decline to comment on why he thinks the show is funny , then im all ears .
Till then i have to regard someone who declines to comment on why show is funny is in my book not a fan , not interested , and really could not give a rat's arse about the show , do YOU think he should be directing it ?

Cos i don't :-(

Why is he so afraid of saying why the show is funny ?????????????

I don't trust him .......... he ain't no fan :-(

Didn't they film  the Christmas special after season5 ,and then show it to us before season 5 aired? I don't see why they couldn't do it during the long inbetween times.

Actually Ranger Clattenburg is directing it, Reitman is the Executive Producer.

As for why he didn't answer why he thinks the show is funny, maybe he didn't think he could explain it properly.  I wouldn't make that big a deal out of it.  I know if someone asked me why I thought it was funny, I would probably say "I don't know, it just is."

The boys were just on "Live at 5", with Mike C and Ivan.
So, I'm guessing that they are all out in Halifax right now. So when they are shooting season 6 this summer, they are also shooting the movie before it, or right after it.. So I would think that mid 2006 is a good bet for it's release.

It's gonna be a 40 day movie shoot, and it's all taking place in dartmouth.
Mike C. said that he may have cameos, but they would be very small, and the persons would be hanging in the background....he doesn't want any major stars taking any spotlight away from the boys.

Thanks Shake. I wish I had found this site sooner. That BBC one sucks.
This site is very nice....thanks to the people who put the hard work into it.

I live in Halifax. And I started watching the TPB ever since the 3 part movie aired back in the day. Can't get enough of the show. I used to live right next to the Woodbine trailer Park in Beaver Bank, where they originally shot the series,  and always would bike around it in loops when I was a wee lad. So weird to see these guys get so much success and keep the show homegrown.

Ivan seems like a nice chap. Him and Mike were kidding around a bit in the interview.

During the Interview with the boys, Bubbles looks at Ricky and says " are you wearing Make up?", and Ricky says " thanks bubs, now the boys in jail are gonna make fun of me". Then Bubbles looks at Jules and Rick, and starts laughing like crazy, with a big grin and repeatedly saying " you guys are wearing makeup!". Hahaha, classic.

No problem SMG. Don't get satellite for Live at 5. They usually just talk about produce and recipes with a local merchant named Pete Luckett, and then flash some weather drawings from 9 year olds. Not missing much. Lol. I was happy to see the boys on it though.

Regarding the movie, Ricky says " I guess they are gonna have some filcrew follow us around a bunch...I hope they are better than the dicks we have now". And Bubbles replies " No Ricky, no, it's gonna be worse! They are gonna yell things like 'cut' and then make us redo things!"

Ricky wasn't impressed with that. Haha.

Then Ricky says " People keep telling me now to dress up in them dress clothes, but I think I look good in track pants".

So is it going to be an international or a Canadian release only?  Will it get any Hollywood backing?

I also wonder if a lot of the screen time will be spent on developing the characters to introduce them to new audiences, or if it'll be directed at those already familiar with the characters and the program.

"The film, to be shot on a modest budget of about $5 million, will be released in Canada in the summer of 2006. From there Reitman hopes to repeat history and drum up interest at a major studio for a U.S. release.

"We want to show it all over the world," said Reitman, the film's exec producer and co-financier. "It's relatively unknown in America, and so was Meatballs, a movie we made for $500,000. We screened (Meatballs) in Hollywood and had three different studios bidding for it. So hopefully, we can do the same here."

What if...
The movie were still documentary style and it was documenting the Boys making a feature film? They could make it as if an independant film maker has seen the Boys on TV and hired them to be in his movie as actors; the documentary would record the Boys dealing with the crap of making the movie. Ofcourse there would have to be schemes along the way that would land the boys in jail for the premiere of their movie.

Does anyone else care to speculate about the plot of the upcoming movie?
Title: Julian's t-shirts
Post by: Jen on Apr 29, 2005, 05:59 AM
Great post Dante and welcome to the ORG......My fave part from the Live At Five segment was when they mentioned wardrobe and asked if Julian would be getting a different color t-shirt - he replied he has five black T-shirts now and is pretty much set. The segment was pretty good compared to the others that they do on there. It showed a press conference with the boys and Michael Volpe announcing they were doing the film to reporters. Then it showed the reporter chatting with the boys who stayed in character and then flashed to her chatting with Mike Clattenburg. & Ivan Reitman and then back to the boys and back to them again. They also included some clips from the show.

The reporter mentioned they are getting luxury treatment now being driven around in different cars etc and Ricky stated he already has a car, its missing a door but alot nicer than alot of the cars he has been driven around in lately.

When she said (working on a film) they make you stop and re do things over and over again, Julian said, "No, we're not gonna do that".

Ahh Strange Brew. Shot in Prince George BTW. The Vancouver breweries all turned them down, so they moved up to the old Uncle Ben's which later became the Pacific Brewery.

Title: My possible storyline idea:
Post by: Digit-Al on May 03, 2005, 12:30 AM
My possible storyline idea:

The Boys get contacted by a big Hollywood producer who has seen the show and wants to make a movie based on their antics. The actual movie is still filmed by the documentary crew, but the plot is about them extorting the Hollywood producer, stealing alot of their furnature and cameras and using the production trailers to grow dope, which in turn they sell to the Hollywood camera and production crew.

Throw in some shit with Cyrus trying to fuck up the deal, a scene where the Hollywood guys try to get Ricky and Lucy to hook up but they can't because Ricky is 'Soft Serve', a good car chase, Cory and Trevor constantly trying to get into the movie, some *9* paper joints (50% larger!), the Boys raiding the snack and booze tables for the free catering, Ray and Sarah trying to get a piece of the pie, and the biggest bottle kids raid you have ever seen, and you got yourself a TPB feature film.

Of course in the end after a big shootout, the boys get fucked over by Lahey and Randy and get sent to jail along with Ivan Reitman because the cops find the dope and figure the whole movie thing was just a cover sroty to bring more dope trailers in.

If that description is accurate then I don't think I'll bother seeing the movie.  I don't care how they met back in elementary school.  I want to see the characters now in a funny situation with some large amounts of drugs, some jail, some gunfights and some zany schemes.

Honestly if they are filming right now/this summer for the movie, no one is going to believe that its 5 or 10 years ago.  God I hope it doesn't suck.

- "TRAILER PARK BOYS - THE MOVIE" TO FEATURE ORIGINAL
             CAST, PRODUCERS, WRITER AND DIRECTOR

    - TO BE EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY IVAN REITMAN

    TSX: FLM.UN

HALIFAX, April 28 /CNW/ - Motion Picture Distribution LP is pleased to
announce that the hotly anticipated TRAILER PARK BOYS - THE MOVIE will
commence principal photography in Halifax in Summer 2005. TRAILER PARK BOYS -
THE MOVIE will team up series director, head writer and creator Mike
Clattenburg and the original cast with executive producer Ivan Reitman, the
creative force behind some of Hollywood's best-loved and successful comedies.
Mike Clattenburg, Barrie Dunn and Mike Volpe, the producers of the hit series
will produce the feature film along with Joe Medjuck and Jackie Marcus from
Montecito Pictures, Ivan Reitman's production company. Tom Pollock of
Montecito will also executive produce. Motion Picture Distribution LP will
release the film across Canada in Summer 2006.
The feature film will be bigger, better, stronger, and longer than
anything seen on television! With crazier antics, better dope, stronger
language (yes, it is possible) and the mother of all scams, will Ricky,
Julian, Bubbles and the rest of the Sunnyvale crew finally achieve Freedom-35?
Will Mr. Lahey and Randy be able to foil their plans? The answers to these
exciting questions and more will all be revealed.
The Trailer Park Boys began their rise to national and international fame
when producer Barrie Dunn convinced writer/director Mike Clattenburg to turn
an award-winning short film into the basis for a television series and in
2001, "Trailer Park Boys" debuted on Showcase Television. The series follows
the antics of Ricky (Robb Wells), Julian (John Paul Tremblay) and Bubbles
(Mike Smith) - three guys whose view of the world has been shaped by their
experience growing up in Sunnyvale Trailer Park. "Trailer Park Boys" quickly
grew in popularity and is now the highest-rated Canadian series on specialty
television(*) and has won a Gemini Award for Best Comedy Series. Now launching
its fifth season on Showcase, the show is also carried in the UK on the
Paramount Comedy Channel.
Ivan Reitman serves as Executive Producer on TRAILER PARK BOYS - THE
MOVIE. Reitman is best known for directing such classic comedies as Stripes,
Ghostbusters, Twins, Dave and Canada's beloved Meatballs. Reitman's producing
credits are just as extensive, including Animal House, Howard Stern's Private
Parts, Road Trip and Old School. Born in Czechoslovakia, raised in Canada and
living in Santa Barbara, Reitman continues to be a mentor to the Canadian film
community, helping bring to life popular Canadian projects such as TRAILER
PARK BOYS - THE MOVIE.
In Halifax to attend a press conference today, Reitman commented on his
decision to become involved with the project. "TRAILER PARK BOYS represents a
fresh voice in contemporary comedy: well-defined characters with emotional
depth and hilarious writing. What might seem like effortless improvisation is
actually the product of Mike Clattenburg's focused vision and the talented
creative team that supports him."
Motion Picture Distribution LP plans to release the film across Canada in
Summer of 2006. "We are thrilled to work with such an amazing brand as TRAILER
PARK BOYS", says Patrice Théroux, President and COO, Motion Picture
Distribution LP. "And we couldn't have asked for a better mentor for this
project than Ivan Reitman."
"It was without a doubt the most irreverent and funny pitch our office
had ever seen," said Ralph Holt, National Feature Film Head, Telefilm Canada
on the pitch for the original series. "This team is experienced and was
determined to make this happen and the outcome has exceeded everyone's
expectations. Telefilm is thrilled to see this group hit the big screen."
Motion Picture Distribution's commitment to Canadian film continues with
It's All Gone Pete Tong, directed by Michael Dowse (FUBAR), starring Paul Kaye
and Mike Wilmot. Already well received in the US and scheduled for a UK
premiere on May 27, Motion Picture Distribution LP will release in Canada
starting June 10th.
TRAILER PARK BOYS - THE MOVIE is an Alliance Atlantis(*)(*) and Ivan
Reitman Presentation of a Trailer Park Production/Topsail Production and a
Mike Clattenburg Film. It is produced with the participation of Telefilm
Canada and the Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation in association with
Showcase Television with assistance from the Canadian Film and Video Tax
Credit and Nova Scotia Tax Credit.

I may be slow, but Julians Grandmother lived in Sunnyvale for a long time, as Julians trailer and the shitmobile was hers, and Ricky's father lived in Sunnyvale for I assume at least 20+ years as he just finished paying off the trailer and I can't remember how many years he said it took him, 25 maybe???

What I think would make sense is that Ricky And Julian go to jail. While they are in jail, Bubbles is left at the park by his parents as they are on the run. When the boys get out of jail, they find Bubs shaking in Julians trailer, and the rest is history.

It contradicts what they told us in the Christmas special, and in the show for that matter.  I'm with the school of thought that says you shouldn't take the write-up on IMDB too seriously, as was mentioned earlier in the thread.

You don't think they are going to try to graft some Shakespeare onto our Boys in the new movie do you?
WTF is this guy from the Edmonton Sun tryin to say?

Good TV. That is an oxymoron, sort of like the term "reality television." In the past, "good TV" was something that nobody wanted to watch because it often involved culture, Shakespeare and British accents.

So rather than train people to like classic literature, the TV industry just changed the definition of good TV and replaced it with shows like The Sopranos and Trailer Park Boys.

The Sopranos is sort of like Hamlet with pasta and Trailer Park Boys is like Richard III with rum and coke.

The Simpsons on the other hand is not good TV, but great TV. And it's like King Lear with doughnuts but without King Lear.

translation please cheers

Heres a new article from Today

Saturday, June 11, 2005

Meeting Mike Clattenburg for the first time, you may notice he's awfully young for the kind of success he's found in Canadian television. In fact, the 30-something writer, director and creator of Trailer Park Boys, the Showcase Television hit series currently in the midst its fifth season, is both young and confident -- confident enough to joke about the stress of being the lead ringmaster of a circus like Trailer Park.

"I can't sleep," Clattenburg says with the deadpan delivery of a stand-up comedian seasoned by years on the road. There's no doubt he's joking, but if insomnia does become an issue, he's got good reason for being a little, as Bubbles might say, "frisky."

Bubbles is the fellow played by Mike Smith, immediately recognizable by his huge Coke-bottle glasses, who lives in a shed in Sunnyvale Trailer Park, the Dartmouth, N.S. setting for the show. Along with Ricky (Robb Wells) and Julian (Jean Paul Tremblay), his two ne'er-do-well friends constantly struggling to get rich quick and stay out of prison, Bubbles is at the heart of the low-brow, low-budget ensemble comedy. This summer, the show is taking a leap few original Canadian TV creations have made: Trailer Park Boys, with the entire cast in tow, is going Hollywood. It's going to be a movie.

Speaking to the press in a stuffy little hotel room in Halifax shortly after the big announcement, and joined by his executive producer, Ivan Reitman, Clattenburg seems sober, collected and yes, confident.

"I'm surprisingly calm," he says. "We've never had a better script."

If the burgeoning international success of his brainchild wasn't enough to give him a pint full of self-assurance, Reitman should serve him one last shot. The Czechoslovakia-born, Canada-bred and Hollywood-crowned director-producer responsible for 35 movies, including comedy classics such as Meatballs and National Lampoon's Animal House, has taken Clattenburg under his wing. Clattenburg and Robb Wells have spent large portions of this year in Los Angeles with Reitman, hammering away at the script.

"We had talked about the story in broad strokes, then we delivered our first draft," says Clattenburg. "We flew down to Los Angeles. Ivan acted as a provocateur, challenged us to make the story better. We jammed some ideas around, and had Robb and I on our toes."

Plugging his muse directly into the rock 'n' roll side of L.A., Clattenburg and Wells stayed at the "Riot Hyatt" on Sunset Strip, the popular 1970s rock star destination mythologized in Cameron Crowe's movie Almost Famous.

"It's where (Zeppelin drummer) John Bonham's friends drove motorcycles through. Paparazzi out front, classic Hollywood action," says Clattenburg.

The version of Trailer Park Boys shown on American TV (via BBC America) is censored, which Clattenburg says is "not nearly as effective as the show here in Canada, but it's good exposure." He says the biggest bonus of their raised profile in the States has been VIP treatment at comedy clubs.

"We get into the Comedy Store for free now," he enthuses. "It's like, 'C'mon in guys, you're back!' We're at ground zero comedy right there."

Clattenburg does admit it helped when he and Wells made friends with the door guys and gave them DVDs of the show. "That's the way you work the town," says Reitman.

Reitman, whose recent production work has included Old School and Road Trip, has a knack for raw comedy like this, with clear ideas on how to translate the magic from TV to the movies without alienating the core fans or confusing potential new ones.

"You have to make a good movie for one audience, " he says. "I think both (TV and movie) audiences are satisfied that way. The only thing we have to worry about is that there's nothing particular in the story that's required viewing prior" to the movie. Clattenburg is quick to add the big screen version will be independent from the series.

"The voice of Trailer Park Boys isn't changing, it's only better realized in a longer format."

Reitman admits the group-of-dishevelled-men-on-a-mission dynamic of Trailer Park can track muddy thematic footprints back to some of his earlier work on blockbuster comedies such as Ghostbusters and Stripes.

"They're funny in a very specific universe, in a society that I like. They have great hearts, great aspirations, even though they get dashed a great deal of the time. It's what life is like in this particular microcosm."

Having grown up in Canada, Reitman can also relate to the specific cultural aspects of that society, but finds the real appeal of Trailer Park Boys is something universal.

"Yes, there's all kinds of subtle references that are particularly juicy, especially if you live on the East Coast of Canada, but mostly it's comedy that anybody can relate to. It's character comedy."

The Trailer Park Boys circus won't pull down the tents after the movie, with a projected release date in 2006. They will have two weeks off after shooting is wrapped this summer, then go back to the set for season No. 6.

"So, we're actually shooting 70 days, " says Clattenburg. "Now I will know what it's like for some directors who shoot a 70-day motion picture."

Reitman admits 60 days is the longest shoot he's helmed. Clattenburg shrugs. "I'm trying to do a few push-ups, trying to get in shape," he says. "It's more athletic than it is artistic."

Sorry for the delay but here is the article I wrote about the movie. Any hints or tips for me? Thanks.

The Boys To The Big Screen

By Matt Bedard

The creators of the hit TV show “Trailer Park Boys” have announced they will be releasing a movie in mid-2006 to all of North America. Clattenburg quotes, “The Movie will be bigger, better, stronger and longer than anything seen on television!" Also, “With crazier antics, better dope, stronger language ... and the mother of all scams.”

Known Hollywood Director, Ivan Reitman (best known for movies like Ghostbusters and Meatballs and Road Trip) will executive produce under Montecito Pictures for the 5 million dollar film, which will star the original characters, Ricky, Julian and Bubbles who will be played by the same actors, Robb Wells (Ricky), John Paul Tremblay (Julian) and Mike Smith (Bubbles). Mike Clattenburg will be directing and producing for the film.

The finishing touches of the storyline were done a few weeks ago in a cabin located in Lunenburg. Very few hints were given and the only things people know about the movie is that it will possibly be a prequel, which could include Ricky and Julian being released from jail and meeting Bubbles for the first time. It is also said that there will be a helicopter chase included in the film.

It was announced that the band, RUSH authorized some of their music to be included in the film. Also it is said that Cory and Trevor will be listening to a lot of RUSH tracks during the film.

The filming for the movie will begin June 27, 2005 at the new trailer park owned by Trailer Park Productions. The park is located in Cole Harbour (Dartmouth). The filming for the movie is expected to last for 45 days.

The trailer park was built last year for the Christmas Special, The Movie and seasons to come. At first the trailer park only had about 12 trailers but now, for the movie, has been enlarged to about 38 trailers.

The show, created by Mike Clattenburg, Robb Wells and John Paul Tremblay was created in 1999 when they together made a short film, which included, “knocking” pets for money and sniffing cocaine. Later on Barrie Dunn (who is now one of the three producers) came up with the idea to put the “Trailer Park Boys” on TV. ShowCase “TV Without Borders” was the channel that was chosen to air the “Trailer Park Boys”.

On May 30th, 2005 the Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation congratulated Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay, Mike Smith, Mike Clattenburg, Ivan Reitman and all the rest of the cast and crew of Trailer Park Boys for their big move to the big screen.

Id suggest the title "From The Trailer Park To The Big Screen"

Also rather than using " marks for the titles you need to make all the titles in italics like z girl suggested.  Even Rush should be in italics not fully capitalized.

This paragraph should look like this...

The show, created by Mike Clattenburg, Robb Wells, and John Paul Tremblay, was created in 1999 when they created a short film together, which had them “knocking off” pets for money and sniffing cocaine. Later on, Barrie Dunn, who is now one of the three producers, came up with the idea to put the Trailer Park Boys on television. Showcase with it's trademark "Television Without Borders" was the channel that was chosen to air the Trailer Park Boys.

Other than that it looks good to me.

I might have put a few too many commas at the start maybe someone can double check my work?  I see a few other commas missing throughout the article, maybe a family member can check them for you.

From the video report, it look like industry types and such.  There were definitely no people that would be mistaken as Org'ers.  They were all in suits and dresses except for the cast.  They did have a small news conference type thing with the big background and pictures and such.  Ricky was still wearing the DRVS jacket.

also i think there must of been some kind of meeting today at the park because a black jag pulled out of the park. i heard rappy say that he saw JP with a black jag and sobeys i think it was :S... anyway i didnt remember that until i got home :P I actually waved to the person in the car when they were pullin out... i was in the feild like 50 feet away so i couldnt see if it was him. right after that security came. the security guy was nice about though and explained why i couldnt be up there.

You are doing the right thing FF64 by keeping the pics private until they say you need to.

Besides why is everyone in such a hurry to see pics of the trailer park?

thanks for agreeing with me shake... I did check over the pics a bunch of times to make sure i didnt get anything on camera and i didnt but you never know... maybe a new characters trailer or something was in the pic? :S:S i told the security guy i wouldnt post them and i promised my mom i wouldnt. Also the security guy didnt make me take the pics off the cam and he didnt take my cam away so he trusted me with the pictures... even though i probably wont see him again i dont want to break a promise and end up facing a law suit. but next year they will be on after season 6 and the movie have aired. That's when im officially "allowed" to put them on the internet ;)

FF64 you are an honest kid. Good on ya.

Sell them on ebay, then.  Just kidding.  You should dress up like a security guard and try to get on the set.

ya it is way bigger than the first time i was there. They took the sign off that said: TRAILER PARK PRODUCTIONS. i didnt see the other side though were it said TEMPORARY MOVIE SET. They probably took that down because even people that werent fans of TPB's saw the sign and wanted to check it out. Maybe with it donw it'll just look like a ran dwon trailer park. But anyway... there were people with bikes riding around. about 3 miutes after i got there a black jag pulled out and another white car. im guessing the black jag was JP but not sure :?. There are also a couple nicer trailers this time. And i did see a lot of people there today about 30 feet inside the enterance. The gate was also open today so cast and crew must've had somekind of meeting? Also there was a bulldozer or somekind of heavy machinery truck in there.

but soon im walking donw to zellars... home of the rocket set and head mall cop gary and bubbles' shopping cart spot. I'll get some pictures just for the hell of it and because you all want pictues so bad. Ricky's paging system lol. I'll get to get a pic of the drop MS would of been right in front of for the hiding scene in dressed all over & zesty mordant. I'm leaving for there really soon. so you'll all get your fix :)

Sam mentioned he had some pics of the park from the wintertime.

http://www.trailerparkboys.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2615

Posting pictures is totally legal no matter what that guard says.  Its any reporter/cameramans right. He didnt take the camera because he would get sued by you.  The worst he could have done was have you arrested for trespassing, but if you were outside the park fence he couldn't even do that.  Did you go beond the fence?  If you are still worried about posting them dont, but you wont get in any trouble as long as you took the pictures while outside the fence.

But its no big deal we've already seen what the park looks like from the outside.  Samsquanch's pics of inside of the park will be interesting and thats really all we need for now.  Theres no point in anyone spoiling the film for us by getting pics of the set during filming, his are old ones from winter.

they dont even have a fence just an open close gate... i didnt go IN the park but i was in the feild right of the enterance... i dont know if that is officially in... they do own that part too... They are good pictures... and by th way i got a huge amount of pics of zellars and the bubbles' cart spot... i just got back. I have to upload them first so it'll be a few minutes... i'll make a new topic.

I'm glad you're keeping your word FF64, although I'm anxious to have a sneak peek. If I lived near the set (and had nothing better to do), I'd plant myself outside the gate across the street or something (somewhere that security wouldn't be able to bother with me). That's neat that you may have seen JP! Anyway, looking forward to next year when we can see your pics!

As for the pictures I would like to see them but i understand your delima I would like to see a link to your other pictures.

As for the Movie I think it will be awsome however since im in america i probably wont get to see it until i can download it or buy the DVD.  It would be awsome if it was going to be release in the US however since im in the middle of nowhere montana I doubt even if it was released i would get to see it on the big screen.  I think next summer i will be taking the family on vacation to Canada so I can see the set and if i can time it right try to find a time when the will be appearing somewhere.  Quick question though does anyone know where i might be able to find a copy of One Last Shot I cant seem to find it anywhere.

Title: Julian and Bubbles
Post by: Maidy on Jun 24, 2005, 11:38 AM
I am confused.  If in one episode, Julian says he's lived in the park 32 years and has known Bubbles all of his life, HOW can that post

"Plot Outline: Set before the events of the "Trailer Park Boys" Television show. The pot smoking, rum drinking Ricky and Julian are released from prison where they meet Bubbles for the first time and eventually come to live in the Sunnyvale Trailer Park. " be accurate??  That indicates to me that they met as adults after getting out of prison.

The Christmas special said that Bubbles was left with Julian's grandma so Julian could look after him.  I wonder how old he was supposed to have been?  In one episode Bubbles seem to indicate that he had been a little boy.  AND perhaps if Julian had lived in the park for 32 years and has "known" Bubbles all of his life...maybe it means that he has known Bubbles all of his life at the trailer park?

I dunno.  But anyway, I am soooooo jonesing for a fix of season six.  [smilie=bath.gif]

Yes he does if you have seen him without make-up.  But that's ok, with it he only looks to be in his late 20's/early 30's.

I wonder how young I could pass for if I wear that kind of make-up?? I am smallish with a young looking face (thank God), and usually ppl think I am in my mid to late 20's.  Hmmm.  Maybe I will become a make-up artist and be young forever.  NOT.  I would never go back to the 20's.  30 something suits me just fine.

Post by: Maidy on Jun 25, 2005, 09:32 PM
I stand by what I found.  But really, age is only a number, is it not?  Jape is a totally handsome dude, as is Robb.  My heart belongs to Mike Smith tho.  BUT please do not take it that I am flaming Jape and Robb.  Far from it.  If I were triplets...that'd be cool...each of us could have a mega crush on all three of them and thing's would be awesome.

BTW I find John D and Barrie D totally hot babes as well.  Maybe I shoulda been quints?

Where I got my information:

Please read under the part: about Patrick Roach

http://www.trailerparkboys.org/forums/posting.php?mode=reply&t=1962

Patrick first met John Paul in the summer of 1984 when John Paul agreed to drive Patrick and another friend to PEI to attend Mike Clattenburg's and Robb Wells' high school graduation party. John Paul, who had never met Patrick before this, thought Patrick and his buddy were a couple of "nerds". To Patrick, John Paul was the cool guy with the cool car. By the time they reached Cavendish, Patrick and John Paul became good buds. In fact, they became business partners. Patrick, Robb Wells and John Paul opened a restaurant business on the Island. Eventually Patrick and Robb sold their interests in the business to John Paul, who has expanded his operation to three restaurants. Like Robb Wells, Patrick holds a degree in business from Saint Mary's University in Halifax.

Patrick is married to his wife Candyce and together they have two children.

Please seem same link under: about John Paul Tremblay

John Paul Tremblay (Julian) was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. When he was a young lad, John Paul (also known as JP and Jape by his friends) moved across the water to Dartmouth - actually to the Dartmouth suburb, Cole Harbour. It was there that he met Robb Wells (Ricky), who is three years his junior.

JR's right - Showcase has been known to make an error or 10.

Here's a link that mentions the ages of The Boys and Clattenburg:

http://www.macleans.ca/culture/television/article.jsp?content=20031124_70088_70088

From the article:

But Clattenburg, 36, and co-writers Wells, 32, and Jean Paul Tremblay, 35, who plays Julian, the third main character, have turned their meagre overhead into a virtue.

Since that article was posted in November 2003, that means JPT is 37 this year.  A fine, fine age I must say ... and just because I'm 37 also doesn't mean I'm biased.

Cheers,
B.

Forums and magazines get stuff wrong all the time, sure, so I cannot stand 100% by what was posted.  I truly do not care one way or another how old they are or if they are married or not.  It isnt as if we know them or stand a chance to make them fall in love with us because we are their most ardent of fans.   They are all good looking, talented, funny and I enjoy their show.  They are actors doing a job, yet having fun with it.  And that is good.

We, for the most part, do not know them personally nor will we ever.  So why get all upset over their true ages?  Male and female actors falsify their ages all the time to keep their targeted market age groups.

Remember Robby Benson?  He was playing a teenager into his late 20's.  AND he still looks like he is ONLY in his mid 30's.  What about the Canuck Michael J. Fox?  He marketed himself the same way.  Makeup artists are wonderful people.  I mean, Mr. Lahey (John Dunsworth) has got to be close to 60 if he's a day.  But he certainly doesn't look it on the show.  I woulda thought he MIGHT have been 50.

Anyway, I am glad we are all great fans and love the TPB's.  I hope it lasts for years.

Who's fighting?  Also, I don't see anyone upset over this discussion.

As for falsifying ages, to each his/her own.  I never lie about my age as  I don't mind getting older.  If you think about it, getting older is much better than the alternative.  :)   (Of course, the next time I meet a much younger man at the pub I may just, *ahem*, lie by omission ... heh .. here's to me, Mrs. Robinson ... Becca,

How right you are....the term MILF comes to mind.  We are of that age and nothing wrong with that or not exactly telling your age right away.

When I go out with my younger cousins I am often thought of as in their age range and dont say diddly squat.  (They range in the mid 20's to mid 30's) And who cares about my age, I am out there to shoot some serious pool, do a lil dancing, maybe some karaoking (j/k, but I do enjoy singing) and toss back a few jaegers, if I am not driving.

Thanks for the response.  I am not here to flame, I am just another TPB nut.  And since I only started this year...never did a TPB forum til here... I have been looking up all I can on the puter trail.  Showcase is where I think they started so I went there for the bios.  I had no idea that they were any more right or wrong than this forum about anything.

I think that MOST of us are not living in some fantasy world where we think that any of the actors would fall madly in love with us and sweep us off our feet........ come on now!!!  All we were talking about was their ages. Yes...... it really doesn't matter how old they are because they are all great and bring us the best that television has to offer. BUT...........when someone does start to put down my fav guy..... I'm here to defend!!! This is what you said about JP's looks AFTER your comments about him being 41/42. FF64 said he didn't look that old and you said.....

You said that you weren't here to flame but that looked like a small flame to me and I guess a spark from that flame burnt me enough to say something. Grant it I did notice you say they were all good looking after ppl jumped in to defend them. I don't care if you find him attractive or not but I'm defending the fact of him looking old. I haven't seen a pic yet where he looks old and I have met him a couple times and I never seen make up on him and he looks great!!!!! YOUNGER than he is that's for sure!!!!!

Hello Again Becca,

I have ALWAYS maintained that the TPB's are good looking.  It didnt take ANYONE getting on to me to say otherwise.

One of the photos on here somewhere in this great big forum shows a closeup of Jape sans makeup and he does look different.  EVERYONE looks younger with makeup.  That is all I am saying.

I too, do not have kids...I see we have some things in common in here and that is why I respond to you.  I am glad you are Jape's fan and I am Mike Smith's...totally cool with me.   And like someone said it isnt like they are gonna scoop us up and marry us. LOL  Although, that is a very umm interesting fantasy.

And a note to canuck's idea of ... um...was it mud wrestling???  How about jello wrestling...much cleaner and if it gets shoved down your throat, oh well...at least it tastes good.  hahaha (teasing)

To the point of age...I am glad you are my age and enjoy the show.  I thought I was perhaps an anomaly, so therefore your post made me feel more normal in my intense craving for more TPB.

billy bob thorton is too "hollywood" for the show... ivan reitman is perfect because he can use his talent to make the show better (which will be hard because it is already best). Billy bob thorton might just get a bit jelous and TRY and steal the show... not having a leading part or being a main character and all.

i think thats is what im trying to say :P

Yah I loved Bad Santa he was hilarious.  I think he would fit in the show ok but I doubt they could pay for him hes probably pretty expensive to hire.

(Badder Santa is the name for the unrated DVD)

I can't imagine considering the budget they are working with. The money should go to the deserving actors of the show if anything!! :)
Title: New interview?
Post by: SpaceWeed on Jul 18, 2005, 11:51 AM
Not sure if you guys have seen this article or not. Searched around but didn't see it referenced. Good stuff.

Ivan Reitman let slip in an interview that there will be nudity in the movie. You can read it here. (http://www.playbackmag.com/articles/magazine/20050704/tpb.html)

http://www.playbackmag.com/articles/magazine/20050704/tpb.html

And here's an interesting quote from Mike Clattenburg.

Quote
To Clattenburg, the movie is hardly a stretch for his fictitious trio of beloved felons. The characters, he says, were originally conceived for a feature, but "they just got to television first."

Oh man, we've already seen Mr. Lahey's ass...wasn't that traumatic enough?! If there does end up being nudity in the film, I'm sure it will be one (or more) of the gals. But, if does end up being one (or more) of the more attractive fellas, I guess I'll just have to suffer through it, without covering my eyes...or blinking.

Production in Atlantic Canada

Reitman talks Trailer Park
Hollywood producer, Clattenburg see B.O. gold in Sunnyvale

by Laura Bracken
page 16

Nova Scotia is hosting several major service productions this summer, attracting big-name stars including Billy Bob Thornton, Milla Jovovich, Rob Lowe and Julia Ormond. However, the story of the summer is the feature adaptation of the homegrown comedy series Trailer Park Boys, which brings together the best in Canadian TV comedy with one of the big screen's most successful comedy talents.

"It's my belief that [the Trailer Park Boys] are funny enough and special enough that, presented properly, they could work all over the world," says Ivan Reitman, the film's executive producer. The Canadian ex-pat's Hollywood resumé includes blockbuster laughers Animal House and Ghostbusters.

"They're wonderfully sympathetic characters," he adds. "They may be doing harsh things sometimes. They may be anti-social sometimes, but in the end it's an extended family story that, as human beings, we can all relate to."

The California-based filmmaker has joined TPB creator and producer/director Mike Clattenburg and local producers Barrie Dunn and Mike Volpe on the 45-day shoot in Nova Scotia.

While neither Reitman nor Clattenburg would reveal any plot details, Reitman did let slip that the feature would include some nudity. Hollywood has proven that nudity can sell, but does anyone really want Ricky, Julian or Bubbles to give us the full monty?

For many Canadians, an hour-and-a-half with the ne'er-do-well Sunnyvale gang should prove an easy sell, but Clattenburg has to introduce The Boys to a whole new audience south of the border. Reitman, with quite a box-office track record behind him, is confident the movie will play to American viewers.

"Canadians have been translating our comedy to Americans for decades now, and we've done a damn good job of it," says Reitman, whose career blossomed in the '70s and '80s alongside those of Canadian comics Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Dan Aykroyd and Rick Moranis. "I think the Trailer Park Boys could be just the latest in that great Canadian export."

The film started to make headlines last fall when Reitman attended the Atlantic Film Festival to announce that he would executive produce. It was the first time he had been in Halifax since he was five years old and immigrated to Canada from Czechoslovakia via the city's Pier 21.

For the past nine months, Reitman and Clattenburg have been collaborating with stars Mike Smith (Bubbles), Robb Wells (Ricky) and John Paul Tremblay (Julian) on the script, and strategizing how to adapt the low-budget series for the big screen.

"It's a deeper and more realized version of what we've been doing for the last five years," says Clattenburg. "We have to introduce our characters to a new audience, yet stay true to the Canadian fans who brought us to the dance. We have to look at it from the position of someone who is watching for the very first time."

One of the main differences between working on the series and the feature, according to Clattenburg, is time. While shooting the series, nine to 10 pages of script will be shot in a day, whereas only two to four pages a day will be shot on the feature.

Clattenburg says shooting on 16mm film will help retain an indie spirit, while allowing for more coverage than if they had shot on 35mm. (The series is shot on the cheap on miniDV, which only adds to the show's naturalistic feel.) As with the series, the extra coverage gives the actors freedom to improvise.

To Clattenburg, the movie is hardly a stretch for his fictitious trio of beloved felons. The characters, he says, were originally conceived for a feature, but "they just got to television first."

Well, this is where I get a bit bashful

I'm more of a beefcake pic gal when it comes to my fave male actors. Buttonfly jeans with perhaps a button or two not fastened, no shirt type. Or a shower scene where you can see them just a bit through the fogged up glass. But it has to be part of the story. Not just thrown in because the studio knows the ladies want to see some skin. My sister thinks I'm bats for feeling this way because she banks on the fact Matthew McConaghey will show skin when she buys her ticket to one of his flicks.

I'm not a big fan of nude scenes unless I'm watching a porno or something. Weird isn't it ????
Title: TPB Feature Film Updates & Info
Post by: JulianRocks on Jul 22, 2005, 10:22 PM
Not weird at all!! I totally understand what you're getting at. It's kinda sexy to leave you wanting to see more when you see the bare chest and the jeans unbuttoned. I'm with you Sarge....... but for her to imply that no one would wanna see them in the buff is just crazy! But my guess is that if there is any nudity..... it will be a gal. They rarely show male nudity. If it was male nudity...... it would be a butt!! But that's just fine!!!

Cool link Arlene.  FF64 posted that story was on the news earlier but I didn’t see it.

Not really sure what you mean when you say “but I fear it aint lookin' good for the boys” I think it makes Canada Post look stupid.  And of course like it says in the article…

“After five years as an underground TV show, a bit of controversy before the feature film's opening can't hurt. There is at least another half-year for more groups to express outrage with the show.”

Bring it on, we can use the publicity.

Trailer trash

Surprised onlookers get parts in Boys film

By Ruth Davenport
The Daily News

DARTMOUTH – If the scene shot yesterday is any indication, the new Trailer Park Boys movie has everything a devout fan could hope for — a little crudity, a little lewdity and even a little nudity.
The cast and crew of the hit TV series shut down a block of Portland Street in Dartmouth to film a scene from the upcoming flick, based on the misadventures of the miscreants from Sunnyvale Trailer Park.

Hundreds of quivering fans that stumbled on the shoot planted themselves on the sidewalks to watch home-grown celebrities Ricky (Robb Wells), Julian (Jean Paul Tremblay) and Bubbles (Mike Smith) in action, along with sidekicks Cory (Cory Bowles) and Trevor (Michael Jackson).

“It was just pure luck; I had no idea they’d be here,” said a gleeful “Phil,” camped out on the steps of Third Eye Blind. “I just came down to the store and saw them, I couldn’t believe it.”

The scene in progress appeared to be an action-packed, profanity-laced couple of minutes involving the wanton demolition of several parking meters by Ricky and the Shitmobile. Fans were entranced with the action, but were equally captivated by mundane details like Smith’s last-minute hair touchups and Wells’s between-takes jesting.

“I’m amazed at how close we’re allowed to get; everyone’s been really nice,” said Erin Hughes, who extended a trip from Cape Breton to watch the shoot. “It’s just great to get to see them as they really are.”

Some lucky bystanders got more than they bargained for, when their positioning on the patio of Whiskey’s lounge earned them spots as extras in the scene.

“This is the grand finale of our trip!” said Ray Aubertin, on vacation from Garson, Ont., with wife Tracy Johnstone and son Cody Johnstone-Aubertin. “We watch the show faithfully. This is just awesome.”

The Johnstone-Aubertins and their patio neighbours got even more Trailer Park Boys than expected. The scene called for a commando Cory to lose his pants, giving the impromptu extras an eyeful of Sunnyvale schlong.

Director Mike Clattenburg gave stern directions to his new cast members, telling them that no matter how the naked Bowles jumped, danced or shook, they must not laugh.

“We need to make sure there are no smilers,” said Clattenburg, subjecting them to a comedy bit by Bubbles to test their poker faces. “We can’t have you smiling when Cory’s pants rip away.”

The crowd came through for Clattenburg, bravely reacting with shock and outrage — but no laughs — through several split-second “exposures.

“Higher education programming!” chuckled Dartmouth resident Chuck Graham after one take. “I love it!”

No matter how big they get, the Boys showed they’re not too big for their hometown supporters. Patient fans were rewarded after the close of shooting, collecting autographs and handshakes before Tremblay, Wells and Smith disappeared for the day.

“These guys are real people, they’re real down to earth,” said Phil. “They’re just the bomb.”

Does the Movie take place in the middle of Season 3? Because that's where the Trio only do small crimes and there's no big plot like season 2 or 4. ??

C'mon Shitty Bill, please post away.  If the econmic conditions were better, I would be practing community mental health up there instead of shitty southside Virginia.  The weather seems to be 90+ from May through September.  I have tried to plant a garden.  The only thing that seems to grow are tomatoes, figs (which are good!!!), zuchhin, and pumkins!

Actually, my wife wants to do our second honeymoon in 2 years at PEI (it will be our 10th or 19th, depending on how you count), so we may come over to Halifax or Dartmouth if I have anything to say about it.  Also, BTW I worked in Halifax, VA for 7 years before moving my office over to Boydton, VA 2 years ago.

Hey everyone!... I just stumbled upon this forum tonight.  I only recently started watching the show, its pretty hilarious .. Anyway, I live in NS, and had the oppourtunity to be a background person for the movie and I wanted to tell everyone about the night I spent on set.  I have a friend who did some background work on the show for the regular season, and she told me that they were looking for people for a "big party scene" they were filming.  When we got there at around 5pm, we actually found out it was for the movie, I was pretty excited!  We were there from 5pm until almost 5:30 in the morning.  I thought there would be a lot more people there, but I'm guessing there were only about 30, maybe 35 people there to be the party people.  There was a lot of sitting around in one of the trailers on the set that was just hollowed out.  It looked like a trailer on the outside, but on the inside there was just a fancy light by the window, so on the outside it looked like people lived there, and a bunch of chairs.  Since my friend was actually getting paid as a background person, Sandra said I could chill in there with her, and I ended up getting paid too! so it was sweet!
Everyone was there for the "party scene", Julian, bubbles, sarah, lucy, ricky, j-roc. They were pretty hilarious between takes.  The guy who plays Julian had a lot of makeup on, it was caked on there  :)
I only spent probably a max of maybe an hour and a half on the actual set.  It was a freezing night, and rain was drizzling, so I was happy i spent most of my time inside.
During the actual party scene a guy went around and handed out ciggarettes, fake joints and beer cups, some of them had flat pepsi, some had water, and some actually had beer, lucky me ended up with flat pop haha.
After the party scene we did another scene where we just had to dance around while J-roc rapped, and we had to act really drunk and throw our cups around and shit. I had a good time.
Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience with people that might appreciate it.  Sorry it's kind of vague, I don't want to ruin any surprises, and I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say, so I'll leave it at this. I hope everyone likes the movie when it comes out!

Awesome. A few people on this boards (including me) were extras this year for the movie. We all had a wonderful time.

That ia awesome though. I'm pretty sure some people here would want EVERY detail of want was going on during scenes but you technically cant tell because Im guessing you had to sign a contract like we did when we were being extras. Anyway, that is awesome. I can't wait to see that scene in the movie along with the one Me and other members were in and Im also dying to see BK's big scene. This movie Im sure will be amazing!

EDIT: When you were the extra, was it sometime after August 8th?

EDIT: When you were the extra, was it sometime after August 8th?

No, I just had to go check my paper they gave me, so they could write my check, and i guess it was July 6th.  Yeah, I signed a lot of stuff... but it was like 2 in the morning and I wasn't into reading it. We were there at 5, and we broke for "lunch" at midnight.  We didn't even get called to set until close to 1 in the morning, so we just sat in the trailer all that time haha.  I'm not a member of Actra or whatever, so technically I wasn't allowed to eat the food that they had at craft services for the union members, but a nice old man, who I guess plays one of the neighbors on the show stole me some nice vegtable soup and a peice of lemon merangue pie!
There was another smalllllll room off the set where they kept about 15 people who were the unpaid background extras, thats where I should have been :) they got pizza for lunch, so later, I went and took some of that too! haha

oh, and I know this doesn't really pertain to the movie at all, but I just wanna say, on set, they had the most amazing portapotties ever! They had a sink and a light and everything! It was rad haha
Title: Re: TPB Feature Film Updates & Info

When I was in the waiting room the actra members were in the same room as ud so we got some pretty good food... I asked about August 8th because on August 8th Robb Wells (Ricky) hurt is leg and he still worked... I was doin the extra thing august 10th and the scene we were doin required him to fall a few times... I couldn't believe he kept going with the hurt leg which turned out it could be broken. I wasnt an actra member so I didnt get paid. :P

Something kinda neat.... there is gonna be another bad guy in the park. The characters name was my dad's name.... thought that was kinda cool.

The movie talk in the article about Hugh Dillon:
With punk mockumentary Hard Core Logo long under his acting belt, Dillon has nabbed roles in movies like Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning and Assault on Precinct 13 and he's shooting scenes for Trailer Park Boys: The Movie, where he plays Sonny, "the bad guy."

I could picture Hugh Dillon being Donny, but I would like to see a new bad guy named Sonny.  I knew a Sonny when I was growing up, he's about 7 years older and he used to bring a giganitc ghetto blaster on the bus with him to high school.  And you guessed it, heavy metal, played all the way to school.

I just posted an update from someone who went to the Toronto Film Fest but it has a few minor spoilers so I put it in the SPOILER thread.   Its from IMDB forum.

Heres a spoiler removed version

david-1161 36 minutes ago (Fri Sep 16 2005 14:33:07 )  Ignore this User | Report Abuse

UPDATED Fri Sep 16 2005 14:35:43

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I went to it. It was great, Richard Krouse from Reel to Reel introduced Ivan Reitman first with some background info and a 3.5 minute reel of his films. He then interviewed him a little while before they brought on the Trailer Park Boys. Rob Wells, John Paul Tremblay, and Mike Smith were there (all in character), as well as Mike Clattenberg. Richard Krouse interviewed them as well, and they opened it up to questions from the audience.

It would take too long to go into get into all the details. But I can tell you now, that the movie is not a prequel as the plot outline on here suggests. I am not sure if it takes place after season 6, but it definitely takes place after Season 5 (Lucy has her implants). ***************A spoiler removed here*********. For some reason Trinity is played by a different girl (a little chubbier than the girl who plays her on the series). I think the trailer was around 5 minutes long or something. It was hilarious, but you probably can't tell from what I am telling you here.

The name of the film is Trailer Park Boys: The Big Dirty. Apparently Alex Lifeson of Rush and Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip play police officers in the movie. It's shot on super 16 mm instead of DV. Apparently HD isn't good for dayime, so they didn't end up using that (which would have been a possible progression from regular DV).

I got a chance to ask one question (one guy had asked about half a dozen for some reason). I asked whether given the movie, if this upcoming season would be the last. Mike Clattenberg asked if everyone would still keep watching in response, of course many people said yes. So he said he would see how it goes, basically saying that this wouldn't be the last season. I guess they got a couple of years left in them. However, they will only be making 6 episodes for this season due to the filming of the movie (which ended the bulk of its filming a couple of weeks or so ago according to them, there is still some 'interview' stuff to film).

There is plenty more to tell, but I don't want ramble on more than I did. I thought they were going to show clips from the TV series as well, but they didn't.

later,
David

Thanks Canuckguy for the spoiler-free review!! I wasn't sure if the Boys would be there or not, the TIFF page wasn't explicit about that, I totally wish I could have gone. It's too bad that all the Canadian media is more obsessed with the American stars at the festival than their own Canadian talent, I didn't hear squat about this or any Canadian stars at the festival on TV.

"Sliders" are little, cheap mini-hamburgers commonly sold at Krystal and White Castle chains in the US, perhaps in Canada, I'm not really sure. They are usually a dinner roll, onion, cheese, mustard, ketchup and what they call meat served in a little box or sack. People usually eat more than one at a time. I'm thinking Randy could probably put away 25-30 in one sitting. They earned the term "slider" because of how quickly they move through the digestive system. Honesty, they are only good after you've have a few too many drinks or if you are a greasy trucker.

I have some pics taken at a Dartmouth landmark [service station] that have yet to be developed (disposable 35mm). I believe the photos were taken in late july '05.

Oh, and if the TPB want the camera undeveloped I only ask that my NON-TPBs pics be forthcoming - PERIOD!

I am, however, concerned that when the aforementioned pics are developed the photo finishing staff may pilfer the TPB-related pictures and so forth. Hence the long delay in having this film processed!

Cheers,

I did a search on this to see if the subject has come up before & didn't find anything, so here it goes:
When the movie comes out next year, the Boys will more than likely be doing the talk show circuit (both Canada & US) to promote it. So my question is, which talk shows (from both sides of the border) do you think the Boys will be on? Or will not be on?
For example, I think that they would be on Conan O'Brien, but they would not be on something like Regis & Kelly.
Does this make sense? Is it worth discussing?
Title: Re: TPB Feature Film Updates & Info

ET Canada!  :P

Id like to see them on Conan but I doubt that will happen until the movie gets big down south which wont be right away since it only is going to show in Canada.  If its popular they will sell it to a US distributor then it should hit the big screen in smaller US theaters first I would think not sure.

They should do a cameo on corner gas  :P
Title: Re: TPB Feature Film Updates & Info

Definately worth discussing!  I think your on the right track with what type of show's they'll hit :).  I can see them doin' the late night type stuff and maybe some stuff on "The Man's Network" and perhaps "Ed The Sock" but I don't see them hittin' Oprah or anything like that.  I can see MC and the boys doing much different types of interviews targeted at different audiences but I still can't see ANYONE plugging the show on Oprah or Regis and Kelly.

I also wonder if they will continue the trend of doing interviews and appearances "in character"?  Too bad Bullard wasnt still on the air - now THAT would be an interesting show.  NOTE: That is the ONLY time you will EVER hear me say it is too bad Bullard is still not on the air lol!

NOTE: That is the ONLY time you will EVER hear me say it is too bad Bullard is still not on the air lol!

Dang, I hope so! I saw Dave Foley (my favourite from Kids in the Hall) on Bullard once & was bored to tears!! I was so disappointed in the interview! I think that is the only full interview I watched of his show, & man that was a waste of time :(.
Back on topic: I believe they will do interviews in character, they still want to keep the people who've never heard of them wondering if this is all real or not. Judging from the commentary on the season 4 DVD, they really want to keep their personal lives private.
Does Canada have any late night talk shows? What about Pop Cultured? My opinion on Pop Cultured is still up in the air, sometimes I find it really funny, other times not at all. :|
I didn't realize that it wouldn't be released in the US at the same time as Canada, sorry to all our US pals who may have to wait a while before seeing it.
Title: Re: TPB Feature Film Updates & Info
Post by: Drunk_As_Fuck on Oct 06, 2005, 11:25 PM
I can take or leave Pop Cultured - seems to vary radically in quality from show to show IMHO.  Hey - I mentioned "Ed The Sock" - he RULES Canadian late night .... ur not .  I believe they will stay in character as well AND it's gonna be fun to watch them try not them drop any "F-bomb's" on network tv.  You know what WOULD be funny - have the whole cast go on the Dr Phil show - in character - and try and let Dr Phil sort tihngs out. Now THAT would be a promo shot!

PS - you're 100% about Bullard.  He tended to forget about the guests and just tried to be funny.  Guess he saw how well that worked or him .... CANCELLED!

Hi guys and gals - and those of you not sure :D Good to be back.

Great to learn that the movie has reached such an advanced stage. I imagine people like me here in Ireland will have to make do with the DVD when it comes out.

Well worth waiting for, though :)

Went out and bought it the day after it was released!!! I LOVE it!!! The performance is amazing (as always) and the videos are great. Before I'd bought the boxed set I'd only seen two or three of their videos.

And I can't wait to see Gord in the movie. That's awesome. 8)

If you are looking for the trailer/teaser/clip from www.tpbmovie.com posted by Melba it is now here...

http://www.trailerparkboys.org/forums/index.php?topic=3810.0

thanks to Djet3k you can also download it.

After 3 people created new topics about the trailer I figured maybe if I made it a new topic, and made it sticky, then maybe people will more likely notice it before they post about the new trailer.

Ok, I just saw a clip on Entertainment Tonight Canada about the Boys, & the chick referred to the movie as The Dirty Boys (I think), did anybody else watch this show & hear that? I just want to make sure I heard her correctly. Anyway, I hope they haven't changed the title from The Big Dirty, I think it's a cool title.

Does this mean it is cencered?

There is a lot of musical talent in the movie:

Gord Downey - The Tragically Hip
Hugh Dillon - The Headstones
Alex Lifeson - Rush
Mike Smith - Sandbox

The best part is that two of them are from Kingston - you gotta love the Limestone City!

...any others?

It all depends on how well it does in Canada.  There are a number of films including Meatballs that did well enough in Canadian theaters that they went on to the USA and became very popular.  We will have to wait and hope for the best.

There's some scam artists trying to sell copys of episodes on ebay for twice the price it would cost me to buy them online in canada!

That is not the complete cast and crew list, there's more people in the movie than that. They don't have Randy, Sarah or J-ROC listed, and they have one guy listed twice.

IMDB is not a reliable source, it is mostly updated by fans, as opposed to people that actually connected to the show.

As was mentioned earlier is not necessarily a prequel, it has a storyline that is independent of the TV show.  The fact that they wanted a younger looking girl playing Trinity does not mean it is a prequel.  There's more info about earlier in this thread and in the Spoiler thread if you wish to find out more.

Fishy confirmed that the movie comes out in September.  Jroc has a small part.  Heres Fishys posts.

Well I'm back and boy do I have some stories to tell you.
When I got there I asked for my ticket that I had put away. The people ahead of me were directed to one of the tables right in the back so I wasn't too happy about where I was going to pe put. Well MY FUCK!  I didn't get put in the back but was told that I had a seat in the VIP section. Table right in the very front  I was to be sitting 3 feet from Randy and Mr. Lahey. Great start to the evening. The owner heard what a huge fan I was and extended me the invitation to this table.
They did their regular show as described previously in this thread, comedy bits and songs etc. Then came the Trivia...Fishy fucking smoked them all again and I won a "Crew hat" from the Big Dirty. Apparantly John stole it while filming. I had 13 answers to the closest...4. I got their autographs on the sheet that Randy was keeping score on. Pic's to follow.
Confirmed...J-ROC is in the movie 8) He has a minor role but is still in the movie.
Trevor is going to be great in the movie and season 6.
I had a smashing time and talked to them for 5 minutes after the show. I let them know about the ORG and encouraged them to visit and just read the stuff. I mentioned that some of the cast post here, even Bubbles. Randy has a computer and I think I talked him into paying us a visit :D
They know that a bunch of us will be going to the premiere party and they were impressed.
The boys might be going to Ireland and Afghanistan to visit the troups.
Few more things that I can't remember just now but if I think about it, I will do a follow up post.
What a great fucking night 8)
Fishy

Movie release in September '06...Confirmed.
Those leaked episodes...Episodes one and two were sent out to the press and they were the ones who leaked them. I was told they get them so they can critique them and just get them excited about the new season. Common practice in the industry. The way John talked about it, he believes it was one of those greasy bastards that did the dirty.
I might remember some more tidbits later.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that I read that the movie is a totally seperate storyline to the show? Don't look for it to be a continuation, or pre-anything. I think it's just a storyline involving the characters, and it just so happens that they needed a younger Trinity. There may be a whole bunch of inconsistencies that don't have anything to do with what we've seen on the show already.

Can these hosers save the film business?

The Trailer Park Boys can't do it alone...

Bon Cop/Bad Cop stars Patrick Huard, Rick Howland and Colm Feore in a bilingual comedy about a Quebec cop and his Ontario counterpart.

BRENDAN KELLY, The Gazette
Published: Saturday, April 29, 2006

The fate of Canadian film lies in the hands of Bubbles, Ricky and Julian - better-known as the Trailer Park Boys.

Ridiculous as it seems, that's what it has come down to. The whole future of the film biz in this country might depend on a gang of foul-mouthed, beer-swilling, pot-smoking misfits.

Well maybe not just them. Quebec funnyman Patrick Huard may also have a hand in saving Canadian film. The sagging English-Canadian film scene is also set to get some emergency relief from comic icon Mary Walsh, Red Violin director Francois Girard and Pirates of the Caribbean beauty Keira Knightley.

These high-profile folks will all be doing their bit in the coming months to try to persuade Canadians to spend their hard-earned bucks to see homegrown flicks and, for the first time in years, there is some cautious optimism that English-language Canadian cinema might finally be ready for its close-up.

English-Canadian film has been on life support from the moment the industry first came to life in the 1960s. But this year's promising movies and a new film policy at federal funding agency Telefilm Canada have many believing this could be the start of something great for Canadian film.

Last week, Montreal-based Telefilm hired a new film czar for the English-Canadian market and the funder is hoping this executive will kick-start the moribund English-Canadian film scene. The job went to Michael Jenkinson, who's spent years toiling in the shark-infested waters of Hollywood. He will be able to dole out millions of bucks quickly, making decisions based on his own gut instinct - just like a Hollywood studio boss. This replaces the old Telefilm jury system that was notoriously slow moving and had an abysmal commercial track record.

The first test of this new optimism comes this summer. On Aug. 11, the Montreal-made bilingual action-comedy Bon Cop/Bad Cop will open across the country. Huard and Colm Feore play, respectively, Quebec and Ontario cops investigating a homicide in this Lethal Weapon-like outing.

The same month, Trailer Park Boys - The Movie, based on the Showcase Television hit, will also be launched and there are high hopes for this one, given the success of the cable show about a gang of lovable East Coast losers. It doesn't hurt that the film is executive-produced by former Torontonian and current Hollywood uber-producer/director Ivan Reitman, whose hits include Stripes and Ghostbusters.

Young Triffie's Been Made Away With, Mary Walsh's first film as a director, is due on screens later this year as well. It stars Andrea Martin and Remy Girard in a comic murder-mystery set in 1949 Newfoundland.

Montreal filmmaker Francois Girard - whose film The Red Violin travelled the globe - is in Asia shooting the $30-million Silk right now with Keira Knightley and hot American actor Michael Pitt (who starred in the Kurt Cobain-inspired Last Days).

So will all or any of these Canadian flicks actually score big at the ticket wicket? Many believe they might.

"The sense of optimism comes from the fact that there is a more popular thrust to these movies," said Bon Cop/Bad Cop producer Kevin Tierney.

"You have to hope that one gets through. How neat would that be? It's still an open question. I've watched (Bon Cop/Bad Cop) with audiences in Quebec (at test screenings) and they love watching themselves. In English Canada, the screenings have also been positive and it's very encouraging. But in English Canada, it's a harder sell because people aren't used to seeing themselves on screen. With Canadian movies, the hardest part is getting through the door."

The bottom line is that not many people are going through the doors of cinemas to see English-Canadian films. Five years ago, federal film funder Telefilm Canada announced that its goal was to have Canadian films account for five per cent of all movie-ticket sales in the country by this month. At the time, local films languished at just 1.6 per cent of ticket sales.

Wayne Clarkson, executive director of Telefilm, is fond of proudly proclaiming that Canadian film topped the famous 5 per cent threshold last year.

The trouble is that the growth is almost entirely due to Quebecois film. Last year, French Quebec films nabbed 26.6 per cent of all ticket sales for French-language films, while English Canadian films managed to take just over one per cent of all English-language ticket sales.

The last major English-Canadian film hits were Men With Brooms in 2002 and Mambo Italiano in 2003. And they're the exceptions that prove the rule that no one wants to see Canadian flicks. That's partly because English-Canada has perversely focused on making strange, dark art films that don't appeal to anyone beyond the filmmakers' friends and family.

Director Gary Yates's just-released Niagara Motel is but the latest example of this type of unabashedly non-populist filmmaking.

Even Telefilm boss Clarkson knows this has to end.

"I don't think there's a place for angst-ridden auteur films unless they're exceptionally made," said Clarkson.

In sharp contrast to the U.S. film milieu, which is powered by private enterprise, the Canadian industry is reliant on public funding and, without exaggerating, Canadian cinema wouldn't exist without Telefilm and provincial film funders like Quebec's SODEC (Societe de Developpement des Entreprises Culturelles). Telefilm pumps around $80 million into Canadian film annually, with two-thirds going to English projects.

Most countries outside the U.S. have similar public agencies that finance local flicks and these funders are the only reason the all-powerful American film machine doesn't entirely dominate cinemas around the world.

On April 20, Telefilm announced that it is radically revamping the way it funds English films. The goal is to have Telefilm act more like an independent U.S. film studio. Under the old system, Telefilm made decisions by consensus, "and I don't think this is a business of consensus," said Clarkson. "This is a business of passion."

Clarkson believes this new system will create more potential hits like Trailer Park Boys and Bon Cop/Bad Cop, and he figures a few hits will go a long way toward changing people's negative attitude toward Canadian film.

Telefilm looked to Hollywood for the new executive in charge of English-Canadian film, hiring Jenkinson, a Jamaican-born, Toronto-raised former Twentieth Century Fox executive.

Telefilm's entire annual film budget of $80 million is less than the budget of a major Hollywood flick, but Jenkinson noted that many of the breakout U.S. hits of the past year were low-budget films.

"I look to the specialty divisions of the studios and many of them cap their budgets at $15 million," Jenkinson said. "And we've seen some real successes come out of that system, like Capote and Good Night, and Good Luck."

Jenkinson knows the Canadian film world is light-years removed from Hollywood, but he thinks there are some universal truths of filmmaking.

"The focus that I've learned inside a studio is an audience perspective," Jenkinson said. "Who is the eventual audience for this film? How will the audience react? That's the perspective that I bring to the process. From day one, you have to be making a film for someone."

The Achilles heel of the Canadian film scene has always been promotion - or the lack thereof. The industry was able to make the films but not properly market them. But that is also changing. Distributors like Alliance Atlantis - which is releasing both Bon Cop and Trailer Park Boys - are now spending big bucks for national marketing campaigns, sometimes as much as $1.5 million to $2 million. Alliance spent a lot on the recent cross-Canada launch of The Rocket and it paid off.

In the past, distributors often spent almost nothing to promote their Canadian films. The distributors open these films on a small number of screens and they usually disappear after one week, or at most two. In many cases, the distributors have already made their money from TV sales and they only give the flicks a token theatrical release.

In a chat during a break from editing Young Triffie's Been Made Away With a few weeks back in Montreal, Mary Walsh quite correctly noted that many parts of the country have no access to Canadian films.

"(Toronto director Deepa Mehta's) Water would not ever show in St. John's, and so the entire province of Newfoundland would never have access to that film," said Walsh. "Canadians don't go to see Canadian films because they don't have the opportunity to see them."

There are also now three nightly entertainment magazine shows on TV - Global's Entertainment Tonight Canada, CTV's eTalk Daily and CHUM's Star! Daily - that consistently cover Canadian film. All three shows are required by licence to include a high level of Canadian content.

For example, Entertainment Tonight Canada visited the sets of both Bon Cop/Bad Cop and Trailer Park Boys, eTalk Daily has covered everything from the documentary Escape to Canada, to the AIDS drama 3 Needles, and Star! Daily provided huge coverage of the Genie Awards, which ran on the CHUM channels.

ET Canada and Star! Daily were launched last fall, while eTalk Daily has been on the air since 2001.

"It's a long-term thing," said Zev Shalev, senior executive producer of Entertainment Tonight Canada. "As we grow as a genre (of TV shows) and as the marketing budgets become larger, I think we'll raise the profile of the Canadian stars. But, at the end of the day, whether a film's good or not, that's why people go to see it."

If Empire Theatres says October 6th than that is what I am sticking with.

This is an interesting picture. I never saw this before.

Looks like a season 5 picture. Ricky's hair is differant though. It looks like how "Robb Wells" keeps his hair.

I've got the same pair of nunchucks , they're made of plastic , with neoprene sleeves on the handles (but the chain and swivels are real metal). They're the only ones legal in Canada , and even they can get confiscated if seen in public

Title: Trailerpark Boys Movie
Post by: Onelouder on May 23, 2006, 10:41 AM
So i got an email from the head of publicity at Odeon Films replying to my question of the release date of the movie. Here's what I got.

"The TRAILER PARK BOYS THE MOVIE (which is the title, not “The Big Dirty”) is slated for an Oct. 6th release across Canada.  It has been moved from the original summer release plan."

So there's the info, its not coming out this summer, but this fall. And it is not called The Big Dirty, it's simply called The Trailer Park Boys THE MOVIE.

looks like we'll have to wait even longer for the movie, but I know it will be worth the wait.

Cheers

I don't like that description on the tribute.ca webpage.  The boys grew up with bubbles, so unless they went to jail at a very young age, they would have always known bubbles.

I wonder where they got the descr.

Oh well.

They must have just taken that from the IMDB plot summary which is not always accurate since it is updated by fans who have no connection to the movie, I wouldn’t put any store in it.

 TPB Movie Premier
I can't tell you where I heard this, but the global premier of the movie will take place during the Atlantic Film Festival which runs from Sept 14 to 23 rd (a great time of year to visit hfx)
If I were a betting man, I would put money on this. Here is the website http://www.atlanticfilm.com/affa_general.php for those of you local check out volunteer opps (you might get in that way) for those wanting to visit and see it, check out the info on becoming a "friend of the festival" and what perks come with that.

Friday morning (june 23) Q104 dj Lisa Blackburn after playing Mike Smith's "liquor an whores" mentioned the movie premier being at Atlantic Film Festival. And from a member of the movie &show crew....Mike purposely wanted movie held back from release as a bit of star power to reward the said festival for getting this whole TPB thing started from the beginning.

From todays issue of the Coast......Some major Trailer Park Boys rumours have come our way this week. Though neither Showcase nor Trailer Park Productions is in the business of confirming anything just yet, we hear the about-to-be-filmed seventh season of the comedy series will be its last. We also hear that Rush is scheduled to play the closing party of the Atlantic Film Festival—on September 23, along with the Stones, Kanye, Harmer, an NHL exhibition game and, we predict, what will come to be called the Halifax Implosion—which means the long-awaited TPB feature The Big Dirty is the likely closing film of the fest (which we predicted weeks ago).

I've been talking about driving up from Brooklyn since before they even started filming the movie.  I'm so glad to read I'm not the only one.  I wanna see it Montreal but if there are TPB events going on in other places, I might have to adjust my plans.

Please keep us updated on any events planned for the premiere.  I'm getting excited.

Skip seeing it in Montreal though. I know it's a LONG straight shot up the 87 but the action is gonna be in Toronto man. Plus, you may get to meet some heavy hitters from the .ORG and go with us to the show !

Just don't make any cracks about Rochester being a hick town
Or about the Bills.........well...........maybe just a couple.

Hey! If anyone is flying out from Vancouver to Halifax for the premiere, check out Zoom Airlines - usually a lot cheaper than others. I think they stop in Halifax....maybe not. Well, if not, it's really cheap to fly to London on Zoom. But that's besides the point.....

Well, I'm still workin hard and saving money to go anyway. Fuck their stupidy-head contest. I don't need some stupid bullshit corporationy contest to give me a fuckin' handout anyway.  Why don't you just move to fuckin' America if you want to be all corporationyist and shit? Fuck off, you fuckin' dicks! ... Well; really, no offense to you guys, but tell your little lawyer friends they can fuck off and fuck off good with their stupid book readin's and fancy college papers.

Maybe Huntsville Bubbles wouldn't mind giving me a P.O. box up there or some shit so I can tell them that I live there and when they go to check on it they'll see that I have a P.O. box there so then maybe it'll work or something and I can win that shit and go up there :P

I just read the synopsis on the movie site. Here it is...

On October 6 THE TRAILER PARK BOYS are out of jail and in a movie!

Kicked out from jail days before the guard/inmate ball hockey final, Ricky, Julian and Bubbles return to Sunnyvale trailer park with a plan for The Big Dirty, the largest heist of their long criminal history: a dimwitted scheme to steal vast quantities of change – since it’s untraceable.

Meanwhile, Ricky is pondering taking his relationship with longtime girlfriend Lucy to the next level when he discovers that Lucy has some newly enhanced anatomy and a job at the Gentleman’s Club.  Later, visiting the club, Julian meets and falls for the beautiful featured dancer Wanda and the Boys have their first encounter with Sonny, the dangerous owner of the club.

As the day of the Big Dirty approaches, The Boys train less-than-able assistants Cory and Trevor. But before their plan can succeed, they will have to outrun helicopters, survive shootouts and face down drunken Trailer Park Supervisor Mr. Lahey and his cheeseburger-loving assistant Randy in a deadly game of Sunnyvale Chicken.

TRAILER PARK BOYS THE MOVIE: the greatest crime from the smallest minds is only in theatres on October 6.

Music provided by J-Roc and crew.

Cat Show by Bubbles.

b.) How long does it take them to kick an American out?

c.) Is it easy to get a real job without a Canadian ID?

d.) If its not easy to do that, is there illegal jobs available?

Usually around 3-4 months after they realize you're still here.

c.) Is it easy to get a real job without a Canadian ID?
Not really. You need a social insurance number.

d.) If its not easy to do that, is there illegal jobs available?
Probably. There are thousands of immigrants that barely speak english, I have no idea how they got here.  :-s

The premiere/party is on October 3rd here in Toronto. How do I get in?!?!  :?

Just checked out the list of movies being released on the same weekend and there's a few that might cause a bit of concern for those in smaller towns like myself that would be hoping for the Big Dirty.

Jessica Simpson's Employee of the Month
Dicaprio/Damon/nicholson - The Departed
week before
cartoon - Open Season

This better not mean I'm losing my TPB fix.

I don't think I've laughed that hard in a while.. Gerry had everyone in stitches.. I actually had to wipe a tear from the corner of my eye from laughing so much. Talking about what it would be like being 6 years old in grade 1 stoned on mexican weed trying to get your 1 piece snowsuit off (the only grade you can be stoned at 9am and not have the teacher notice - since it takes everyone an hour & a half to get their boots off..) Wishing I had stayed afterwords to buy a cd, and gab a bit - but it was a zoo.

The 2 other comics on the bill were from out east, Mark Walker & Peter Anthony - got a pretty decent Bubbles impression from Mark after he was talking about how it took him 7 episodes to realize it wasn't a documentary ("I know those guys.."). All in all I was pretty impressed with each comic.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW

'Trailer Park Boys' film down & dirty
By JIM SLOTEK - Toronto Sun

PLOT: Julian and Ricky adapt to life out of prison, with Julian planning "the big dirty" (a major burglary) and Ricky dealing with his girlfriend's new breasts and career as a lap dancer. Meanwhile, Bubbles tries to avoid having his toolshed/home torn down and his cats left homeless by evil Mr. Lahey.

If you're a fan of the very funny, two-dollar cable series Trailer Park Boys, then how you like Trailer Park Boys The Movie may depend on whether you think movies should "Go Big."

For their movie, the producers of TPB didn't airlift a bogus Hollywood "name" such as Alec Baldwin. They didn't spend the money on computer-generated FX (in fact, it's kind of interesting how nobody in the fictitious Halifax- Dartmouth trailer park of Sunnyvale seems to even have a computer). And they have exactly one sort-of car chase, with a carnage total of one flipover and a fenderbender.

Which means, judging by the still-cable feel of the thing, most of the $5-million budget was spent on smokes, alcohol and pot -- which is how it should be, frankly.

There's not even a Canadian-celeb cameo such as Alex Lifeson or Rita MacNeil, as on the series. The closest thing to a new character in Trailer Park Boys The Movie are the new breasts acquired by Ricky's girlfriend Lucy (Lucy DeCoutere) in the 18 months he's been in jail for knocking over an ATM -- an "effect" that involves shirt stuffing and one topless body-double.

No, Trailer Park Boys The Movie is all about Sunnyvale and only Sunnyvale.

If after six seasons on Showcase you now appreciate Julian, Ricky and Bubbles (John Paul Tremblay, Robb Wells and Mike Smith) as bona fide characters, then you'll appreciate the room they have here to be themselves. The evil superintendant Mr. Lahey drinks himself comatose, his "friend" Randy eats cheeseburgers and walks around shirtless (the camera practically caressing his medicine-ball-sized belly in closeup after closeup), J-Roc and Tyrone lay down a wedding rap (whoops, don't wanna play spoiler) and Julian goes nowhere without his rum-and-Coke.

It's mainly Ricky's story, keyed on his complicated relationship with Lucy and their larcenous primary-school-age daughter Trinity. Lucy's version of keeping him at arm's length is to have him sleep in his car -- the Sh--mobile -- outside her trailer.

Her idea of him "going straight" is to give up burglaries and go back to growing pot. Meanwhile, he's torn about freedom itself, what with having to miss the prison ball-hockey tourney.

It's funny stuff, the humour born of familiarity. Example: Julian, obsessed as he is with "jobs" involving loose change, sees a plexiglas globe full of loonies and toonies at a theatre and looks like he's had a religious vision.

There's maybe not quite enough of Bubbles for my liking, but even he gets a big acting moment, "going postal" when his shed and his kittens are threatened.

A man can only be pushed so far, after all.

BOTTOM LINE: No big celebrity cameos, exactly one car chase and flip-out, and the rest is pure TPB, amounting to a meandering, extra-long episode of the gem-like trash TV series, with all the heart, profanity and stupidity we expect.

One day I was watching a documentary on differant comedians then randomly Gerry Dee came on. I actually never knew he was a comedian until then and I said "Hold on, he looks familiar... ITS DONNY!"

That's pretty cool CD, are you going to go see him?

Yea, I remember in May I went to Yuk Yuks in Toronto and they introduced him as "freshly come from filming the TPB movie", and he was wearing a big dirty hat.  He was quite a funny guy.

Quote from the article...

"There's not even a Canadian-celeb cameo such as Alex Lifeson or Rita MacNeil, as on the series. *The closest thing to a new character in Trailer Park Boys The Movie are the new breasts acquired by Ricky's girlfriend Lucy* (Lucy DeCoutere) in the 18 months he's been in jail for knocking over an ATM -- an "effect" that involves shirt stuffing and one topless body-double."

Was this guy on dope? Did he actually see the movie or read the credits?
Ummm...Gord Downie anyone?
* No new characters? Sonny, Wanda, our own JR?
BTW the strip club was actually the Marquee, where they have held their season launch parties.

I love how people review movies without even bothering to look into the details behind it, which is pointed out by fishy here.. I thought the movie was great... and had this reviewer taken the time to actually enjoy the movie.. he would have noticed the new characters and the cameo appearances.. its a shame that he never paid enough attention to the movie to provide an actual decent review.   :?

It was an excellent movie and well worth the money.. I can't wait to see it again.. definitely a DVD collection must have. I have nothing but full respect for the cast and crew.. the movie was amazing! and having the Trailer Park Boys on the "big screen" was possibly the smartest thing Hollywood has ever done.  :)

Congratulations JR on your cameo appearance! You should ask Mike to make you a recurring character, I'm thinking.. Maybe you can be Julians' long lost sister or something..  :P

All in all.. an excellent movie! Great job!   :D
Title: The Big Dirty: Music

Alright, so I'll admit I went to the show drunk as fuck, and had a few more there (the entire theater was full of liquor, and it was maxed out) so why the fuck not?  But I remembered one part where J-ROC's Trailer Park Life is playing, and he's got it mixed with some fuckin' song that goes "Doo, doo, doo doo doo, DO" and I was wondering what the name of that song is?

So I was also thinking, we could, at the same time, compile a movie soundtrack listing (since IMDB doesn't have one, but fuck if I checked anywhere else) so users could possible create their own bootleg soundtracks :-P

I remember Bobcaygeon by the Tragically Hip at the end credits...but not much else?  Any help with my song, and adding others?

EDIT: Shittttttttttttttttttttt, shows what I know...there is an official soundtrack, but I can't seem to find a song listing or any online place to buy it...

EDIT (again): I really need to look more, but my first question still stands, as the soundtrack (and the player on the movie site has the song) only lists J-ROC's song, not the mix.

That song is "Life" by Our Lady Peace, the story can be found here
