Your job?
« on: Aug 27, 2009, 12:19 PM »
What's everyone here do for a living? For Hobby? I can tell the ones that have a computer in front of them at work, that's for sure! Sorry if there's already a topic floating around, I looked I swear. I figure we all talk and shoot the shit enough, some might like to share.

Me, I work full time as the only computer tech at a small property management company. Basically, I travel around to leasing offices and take care of their computers and other equipment. I didn't go to school or get any certifications, got lucky and was hired on by my uncle who owns the company. I really kind of hate doing tech support, it's been pretty slow lately and that's not making a raise look any more likely. I'd much much much rather be doing Game or Software Design. I've been programming for about 12 years now, since I was 10. First memorable program I ever wrote was a password stealer for AOL, because my dad set time restrictions on me XD.

Aside from the computer stuff, I'm into Guitar, BMX'ing, dirtbiking, hunting(deer & turkey), fishing, and hiking.

Here's a game I've been helping out on with a buddy for a little while -

Some people are shy about posting where they work and stuff like that. I'm currently working as a musician.

I work as a cashier. On my feet all day, and not around any computer.  Wish I could browse the net at work. Good thing I can't!  :P

I go to college, no job this summer but I'll probably be working in the anthropology dept. again for work study once fall quarter starts.

Edit:  Oh yeah, hobbies, I play World of Warcraft pretty regularly, paintball and play pencil and paper RPGs (D&D, WoD, etc.) on the weekends.  Used to play M:TG but I don't have a group now since I changed schools last year.

I work for KVOS TV which is based out of Bellingham WA. I work out of the Sales office in Vancouver, BC as an Accounting Coordinator.  I do most of the accounting stuff until it comes to budgeting and reports to head office etc.  Soon I'll be learning Payroll, which makes me happy as it's good to have that on the resume.  I love the company I work for and the people are great except my boss can be a pain at times.  I don't have any hobbies as I'm a boring person right now.  :)

For hobbies, I like to knit, crochet, read & nap (no, I am not 80 years old). I was introduced into roller derby this year, so I'm considering taking up roller skating & trying out for the team next year.

I work at an extremely strenuous concrete plant making septic tanks.

I work with only 5 people that are cool as hell though and we occasionaly pass a spliff back and forth while breaking down left over cement or after welding a "jacket" together. Jackets are what we call the outside tube that goes over the septic tank.

The work it self sucks donkey balls, I think i deserve more pay for what I do. 13.50$ an hour is all I get but like today, They had me as their ginny pig or something lol because I was hauling around a big ass crane trying my damnist not to completley reck the entire building lol.

I'm currently looking for another job at the same time because I dont want to be crippled and turn into an old man before I turn 30 lol

And for a hobbies, I play the drums, love to party, skate, and go peir jumping into lake michigan =)

In a former life (before kids and husband) I was a chef...a pretty good one too. I am also a bit of a writer (a few pieces published here and there). I have also done quite a bit of photography and have had some photos published in a few magazines here and there. I've got an accounting certificate also but only really use it to help out family and friends. I volunteer with a few FAR left liberal Democrat offices in my area and am big on environmental and childrens' causes. Mostly, I am a mom. My oldest son has an Autism Spectrum disorder so that takes up a lot of my time too. (I have 4 little boys, that's more then a full time job!) I take online classes quite a bit too.

Hobbies...do I still have time for hobbies?! I play guitar and I may snap a few pics, write a few things down here or there but I don't have a lot of time for that stuff anymore. Actually, I just pulled the carpet out of the dining room (where I am sitting on my arse right now) and need to clean and wax the floor....hobbies? LOL!

I work in the HR Department for an IT Consulting firm - I really like it.

Hobbies... I love hockey, photography (not as awesome as Paul), painting, music... yada yada

Wish we lived in the same city, Melba. I've wanted to do roller derby for as long as I can remember. Our team has too many away games, so I don't see myself joining unless they'll just let me rumble locally.

On average, I work six to nine hours a week at a law firm doing all kinds of misc. I answer phones, help with payroll and bookkeeping stuff, make spreadsheets, file, what have you. The rest of my hours are spent being a housewife (I won't bore you with a list of duties, just imagine all the greats like cleaning and laundry.) I'm also a chef, baker, gardener, mother to two cats, fitful exerciser, aspiring trapeze artist and photographer.

Yeah it'd totally be cool if we could try it together! Realistically, I probably wouldn't be able to afford joining up anyway (equiptment, travel, unpaid time off work).
