Oh yeah. Got a closet and alternate between a 450 watt metal halide and a 600 watt HPS. The HPS is blue-spectrum and mimics late spring-early summer light and the MH is red-spectrum and looks more like an Indian Summer sun. We try to do as much of a simulation of natural light as possible. The daughter, aged 17, moved out so her bedroom is now the clone/veg chamber where we use flouros 24 hours a day. We use dirt, no dro, but the nutrients in our soil are so close to a dro solution formula that we use the food normally used for hydroponic.

We are just moving into 12-12 on our first reveg experiment. We added in four seedlings that looked promising but a week into 12-12 we have already found two males among those. WWRD?

About 2 bushels of nectarines golfball sized.  Why aren't they tennisballs?  Who the fuck knows?  No chemicals, beyond a hornet nest I spayed near by.  Good stuff just diminutive.  Smaller word will also suffice.

A small green house would be cheaper in the long run. You don't turn enough air in the house,  an attic fan in the room would work if you have to grow there.
Good luck and be safe.

We've actually considered that, but space is at a premium in our house and yard. My yard is literally about the size of a largish "galley"-shaped kitchen, and our property is wedged at the end of a right-of-way between two neighbors whose houses are both fewer than fifteen feet away from our own. But yeah, ventilation and circulation are a huge hassle, because our basement has no windows. In the winter the air down there is bone-dry, and in the spring/summer it gets so damp that we have to be constantly vigilant for mold.

An update on our current grow: ALL FOUR SEEDLINGS ARE MALE! What a bummer. I keep telling my husband that we need to go with clones but he has this fixation on starting seeds. We've been doing this for about twelve years now and we've achieved a certain level of sophistication through the good old "denial and error" process, so honestly, I fail to see the point of this insistence on relying on bag seed. Oh, well, at least the regenerated females are all doing well.

I'm amazed to learn I have a tomato vine with ripe tomatoes on it.  I didn't plant it.  It grew with no cultivation of any kind.  A year ago an old oak tree fell in my yard, and I have a large stack of logs from it near my back fence.  The tomatoes were growing behind the logs.  13 months ago I ran my mower over that very spot just before the tree came down.  Bizarre!   Can't even guess how, but dee-lish.

What an awesome surprise!  :)

Our garden should FINALLY have tomatoes here in a couple weeks!  I'm jonesin' to make some home-made salsa made out of fresh veggies from the garden...  YUM!
F*ck, that's good pepperoni!

I've just moved house so my new garden is empty (apart from a bunch of weeds). I don't know if I'm too late to start planting anything now?

I planted some late tomatoes that would not go red, so I found a recipe for fried green tomatoes, battered those puppies and they were fantastic. To me, the thought of them was a bit sickening, but I'm tellin' ya, they were really good. Gonna fry up some more over the weekend.

Fried green tomatoes are the bomb!!! Do you dip them in egg and then a flour/cornmeal combo? That's how I do mine. They also go well with a chipotle dip.
