Does anyone have the LG Rumor phone?
« on: Jul 31, 2008, 09:36 PM »
I do, and when I first got it a couple of months ago, I (somehow!!) set it to tell me when I get a new email in my gmail acct.......well, needless to say, this got old about a week or two in, and no matter how I try and how I search through the menus etc (yes, even the book that came with it) I can't make it NOT tell me when I have email....cant even make it tell me silently.....even when the phone is on silent, it chimes in loud and clear....YOUVE GOT MAIL!!!!....I was sooooooo in love with this phone when I first got it, now I kind of want to huck it into the nearest lake, but I can't afford to replace it, so I just seethe and cringe when I hear  YOUVE GOT MAIL........anyone? anyone?  bueller? bueller?

I think if you had to register your phone with Google to receive the alerts, just simply go back to the website and de-register it or click. or if that doesn't work, try and remember how you got it to work in the first place and there could be an option that could disable it

didn't have to register with google, and i can't remember how i set it to tell me.....i've been through all the menus, methodically, and can't find a way to turn it off....i even tried signing out of gmail....no such luck....if customer service (everywhere) didn't suck, i'd suck it up and call and ask....but i KNOW that it will suck at the very least an hour out of my life, repeating myself and even then i probly won't get a real answer....it's mostly just annoying, but LUCKILY, my life has been so chock full of unnecessary drama lately, that the phone email alert thing is TOTALLY at the bottom of the list!

Your phone’s Email application lets you access and manage
multiple email accounts simultaneously in one convenient
location.

default account inbox will be displayed.)

I know what it is like. I am often in the back at work and some people don't like turning off their phones even though they are supposed to be off. One day I heard a phone go off and asked someone about it and they had never heard this alert on another person's phone and then another day it went off again with the actual owner holding it so I think with most of these phones that the text and E-mail alerts are different than the phone alerts. So best thing I then suggest is trying to find the individual ringer for it and download a silent sound file and then set the ringer for that alert to that sound file
