I'm leaving tomorrow morning with the family to head to Maine.  Not gonna be any warmer, but I'm still gonna have a vacation at my buddies place.  Get drunk, hot tubbing and shopping at the outlets in Freeport.

Miami sounds like fun.

I'm so happy that you are finally going to travel someplace warm, Shake!!  I remember that was one of your New Years resolutions last year. woo hoo!! :D
I am planning on another Mexico trip, in March (not Spring Break) with a good friend of mine.  You might know her, she posts here sometimes under the name of Vancouver.  8)
We are checking out trip deals but have not found anything yet.

Thanks Ms Vee, I'll bet you and Van will have a great time together.

Enjoy your trip SMG, yeah all trips help break up the monotony of winter, even if you aren't escaping the weather.  Hot tubs help.

Oh man, V and Vanny in Mexico!? That's gonna be such a great time. I'm so happy for the two of you.

Take lots of pics in Miami, Shake. I've never been.

Winter or not, I've always wanted to see Maine.

We're flying South this weekend to visit some old friends. Not a vacation per se, but it'll do.  :)

Have fun in Miami Paul, sand is a nice warm 4 letter word....

I am heading south too, although I am pretty sure Winnipeg is not going to be much warmer then Thompson...technically it is south....

Just be careful with the sun, even at this time of the year it can be a bitch.

When I lived in FL we used to crown the "sun king" every day.

Ya know, the "the sun doesn't bother me type" who later turned purple and had to
hide from the sun for the next couple of days.

It's a great time of the year to be going. Enjoy!

I got a sun/wind burn on my head yesterday while surveying out in a snow covered field.

Oh yeah I always have to be careful of the sun, I'll stay covered up and or in the shade as much as I can.  Lots of sun screen.

I'm back to work following my whirlwind extended weekend in chilly Maine.  7.5 hours of driving each way, kids did really good only getting a little tired of driving with about an hour to go.  Spent some time drinking, playing poker with some local yokels, shopping at the outlets in Freeport (spent way too much $crilla) then had some great seafood, some moosemeat chili, then on Saturday deep fried some wings and chicken and fries in my buddy's driveway in his big ole pot of oil.

As Hunnerbun said, Maine is seriously a beautiful place.  Driving through the mountains was awesome.  Only needed the 4 wheel drive in a couple snowy places.  You can be up in mountains 1 minute and drive a couple hours away and be on the coast of the Atlantic ocean.

Well, we booked our trip this morning.  Will be there the first week in March for 7 nights.  All inclusive, with the hotel 5 minutes from downtown and all the bars. woo hoo!!
I have never been to the downtown area, I always stayed further out of town.  So, look out Puerto Vallarta, here we come! 8)

Got some shitty news in regards to my timing.  This past weekend, Ron Jeremy was hosting a pajama party 10 minutes from where I was in Maine last weekend.  Had I decided to go one week later, I would have had a chance to meet the hedgehog.  Faccckkkk.

Thanks everyone, yes I am here in Miami!  I arrived safely and on time!  It was +1 in Ottawa and sunny in Toronto where I switched planes.  I kept hearing about all the ice and wind in Ontario, but it didn't affect me :)

I think it was the perfect temp today, just hot enough to make you fell warm, not muggy at all.

I think we're going to Miami Beach tomorrow and in the night we'll see the Canucks play the Panzers, er Panthers.

Oh yeah when I was in the Toronto airport I had a bit of a layover.  So I arrived at my gate early, the flight before mine was to Raleigh.  I had my eyes closed but opened them when someone walked by.  It was Cliff Fletcher.  Eventually every Maple Leaf walked by to get on the plane, mind you I didn't recognize more than half of them.  It was a charter flight, they play the Hurricanes tonight.

Glad you're having a great trip, Shake! Miami is really exciting, I love the Hispanic vibe there.

Well I made it back ok, back to the real world.  My suitcase didn't make it though, hopefully it will turn up.  I had a great time, it was great to be in a warm climate!

Welcome back Shake. Talk to Ms. Vee if you need any advise on recovering (and being compensated for) lost luggage. I hope you get your Speedo back
