Why do they always presume that the boys don't have a loyal US fan base? Some of these people that write articles, I will never understand! I guess you must have to be a rocket scientist to use Google and see how many fan sites and groups there are online for them, there's loads of them all over myspace and I haven't checked out any of others on facebook (cuz ours is the most important lol), but I'm sure there's probably quite a few there too.

This review was even worse!

this was a comment on one of his other articles on that site:
Quote
Typical self-important selection process by this website. I don't know how the critics here can walk with so much stuff shoved up their collective asses. It's just flat-out amazing how condescending, pretentious and pseudo-intellectual their critiques are for films and the people who like them. Maybe they just think they're cool for not liking what everyone else likes and maybe it makes them feel like outsiders, I don't know. It's laughable how you claim that we, the audience, like what the critics say we should like when you provide your "should be" nominated list of your own. Do you see the irony in that? It's amazing you guys like films at all when one looks at what little films you do like. Your website smacks of being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian and I see you all as nothing more than armchair filmmakers who take themselves too seriously and have no respect for how difficult it is for real filmmakers to please the audience.

Well I can load the page, but all I see is a small comment in a thread that someone liked TBP, but no review.

"This movie was so good I still got wood. Honestly I have been jerking it for at least a day now but the trailer park boys still have me turned on. Bubbles would beat both jesus and mohamads *** any day."

Cool pic!  Then I'm confusulated, are they saying the movie played at Sundance?  I thought Sundance turned them down?

Hey, I got an idea: let's write an article about how every random fucktard is now considered a journalist if they have an internet blog and a screen name. :P

Hello Good Citizens!

I was visiting my good pal Stephen Harper (The Prime Minister of
Canada, if you didn't know!)... just the other day in Ottawa, Canadia
and after golfing he played for me a Digical Video Disc of a movie
called "The Trailer Park Boys"; I just have to say this movable picture-film
made me laugh very much. You can visit their website at the following
  address: http://www.trailerparkboysusa.com. I encourage all
theater and Theater Emergency Response personnel to play this film
anywhere and everywhere you can. God Bless America and Canada
as well.. and.. uhh.. what is the other one called?
Ah yes, our maid called it "Mehrico"...
  I think.

More reviews coming in!

Another amatuerish attempt from some two-bit hack who doesn't quite comprehend the brilliance and beauty...

In total fairness though, I think the movie was lacking a bit of magic and that undefinable 'thing' that made the TV version so brilliant. Trying to acheive that in 95 minutes was always going to be difficult.

I thought the movie was more a rehash of jokes from the series as well.  If someone wanted to see something to get into the show, the movie wouldn't be my choice of first viewing.  Still hope the American viewers "get" it.

Hey, I NEVER go to the movies, already own dvd, downloaded the movie when it 1st came out but I'm STILL going to go see the movie today. For all the 'park' has done for me it's the least I could do!

If the AMC Block 30 isn't packed I'm going to be pissed as fuck.  :6paper:
I'm preaching to the choir but I think TPB is a lot funnier than what's on the surface.

We were talking about this at dinner last night. My wife who isn't their biggest fan but has seen all the shows and the movie said "That the movie is a watered down version of the show and unless you are familiar with the series it probably is not the first thing that you want people to see".

I think that the movie misses the back story somewhat which is no matter what kind of crazy shit is going on and no matter what happens that they are all in this together and they look out and care for each other.

The next movie will have to be better if only because they won't have to fill in the blanks for people like they did for the Big Dirty.
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false."

Interesting article in today's Globe & Mail about the US release:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20080126.TRAILER26/TPStory/TPEntertainment/Movies/

Looks like the one-hour special won't be aired until the Fall. I'm going back to bed until October. :cries:

I'm back, two people total in the theater today for TBP.  So. Cal. is a wasteland when it comes to taste.
Hopefully, the $ from the US showing won't affect a sequel.

To generate buzz prior to the California openings, the Boys -- John Paul Tremblay (Julian), Robb Wells (Ricky), Mike Smith (Bubbles) -- appeared at an invitation-only screening Wednesday evening at a Sunset Boulevard movie house in West Hollywood. Afterward, they headed to The Laugh Factory comedy club to be subjected, in the words of Isil Bagdadi, president of distribution and marketing for CAVU, "to a semi-light roast."

I hope someone taped some of this.
