OK guys need a hand here. I hooked up my daughters puter to my router and she's on fine but now my puter keeps getting connection pop ups for dial up. Not sure how to fix this. It seems whenever I open a new page it does this. Note this is doing it on mine, not hers. Mine was fine before I hooker hers up.

not sure if this will help but, i had earthlink and changed from dialup to cable and same happened on one of mine. All I did was in connections, change from dial-up to cable and after a couple of restarts it went away

When I was home at my brothers, his computer kept always trying to connect to dial up (which it was on, no high speed in the sticks). But the fucker kept popping up every time I closed the window. I think I had to delete all the connections and create a new one.

Have you checked that it's not the default connection? If it's on a network, then you don't need any "connections", should just recognize it automatically.

I'm no tech nerd though.

. I had the same problem with an old beater laptop I set up for Tracey. In IE I had to go into tools - internet options - connections and clear everything out of the "Dial Up and Virutual Private Network" box. I also had to click the radio button "Never Dial A Connection" and that killed that mofo popup. Then I cllicked the LAN settings button and made sure "automatically detect settings" was checked off. That should stop it from looking for a dialup connection and force it to automatically look for your high speed eithernet connection every time. Fackin' computers

I am still getting tons of messages from Avast Anti-Virus saying I have trojans and crap.
I am going to do some more Spyware/Adware scans and then do anotehr boot scan of the computer. Hopefully it helps.

It should be legal to murder the people who create these.

you might want to hit a torrent site and find a cracked version of something like a trojan remover. I don't know any names but I'm sure a search would help out.

We have spybot and adaware at work and haven't had any issues.

I haven't had any requests from your trojan to look at sexy Refuck pics since the first time.

Not sure if you're kidding but the messages it started to send were things like "Want to see nude pictures of me?"

My friends were asking me in school why I was trying to send shit like that to them. It was awkward trying to explain it.

I'll do a quick search now. I really should be in bed right now but this virus crap is getting annoying. I want to get rid of it desperately.

It did ask me to see pictures of you, but I added the sexy part.

It might be worth the $20 or whatever some store charges to do a complete virus scan.

Before hauling it in to have it looked at, try Trend Micro's online free scanning service HouseCall:

I've had it find and remove malware that other solutions weren't able to deal with.

I tried that when I had the initial virus. I believe it helped a bit.
May as well try again.

I got a Trojan Remover program and I now have a trojan blocker running, along with the Ad-aware Ad blocker, Avast's virus blocker and Spybot's Spyware blocker... if none of this helps I have no idea what to do next.

Yeah, we got one when we got the "new" Aliant High Speed.
It seems to be working okay now but last time I thought I had it fixed, it went all fucky again. I still haven't gotten a chance to run TrendSecure again, I'll have to do that later.

Its mostly only doing it in IE.
Rarely in Firefox.
I kind of expected it was an IE problem. Yesterday I fully uninstalled it and today, just finished re-installing it. I'll have to check those options in IE once I restart my computer for the setup to finish.

I'm a proud user of Firefox

Even though Firefox is my default browser, some programs use IE as a default browser which can't be changed (ex. MSN)
I rarely ever use it unless I'm checking email through MSN or something. I find it a million times slower.

Yeah, another reason why you have to keep IE... just in case.
With all those Ad-blockers and stuff running its really bogging down the speed of the computer. I haven't had a pop-up in a while though (knock on wood) so I'm going to try running without all the extra blockers just to see.

So far seems to be going okay (Once again, knock on wood)

FF has become pretty good with the plugins for secured sites. Haven't had any problems lately with sites.
