I found that on their website tonight. What in the fuck? Fuck Shaw! I'm one of their customers and I will NOT give my money to a company who thinks they have the right to tell their customers what they can and can't watch on TV.

At first I thought this was a joke...but apparently they're dead serious.

Hey Shaw: FUCK YOU ASSHOLES! You make money off me no matter what I watch on TV. You should be happy to get my money. Now you want to tell me what I'm entitled to watch on TV?

I want to get all my TPB buddies on my side and go after Shaw on this one. Let's voice our outrage and disgust with their attempt to discourage us from watching TPB...on channels we PAY THEM to deliver to us! I'm boiling mad.

This is a real interesting point to debate: what types of TV shows should public money fund?

Here's what they're saying:

The Canadian Television Fund was created to help promote and develop quality TV programming in Canada. But somewhere along the line, they lost their way. Firstly, they give the CBC a backdoor to $120 million each year. Secondly, , shape-shifting aliens with a grudge against the government and educational programming that offers instruction on the right and wrong way to host an S&M Bondage party.

At Shaw, we believe television should entertain, inform, inspire and make you think. We support the development of original Canadian programming that reflects this great country of ours. However, this programming should be a lot more reflective of the audience that will ultimately watch it. We need a better way to create Canadian programming that has a broader appeal to our customers, and satisfies you as a Canadian taxpayer and cable customer.

Sent to their administration:

Dear Shaw:

Recently I was provided a link to content hosted on your website:

https://secure.shaw.ca/apps/Secure/CRTCForms/CTF.aspx

Apparently you're (as a corporation) trying to tell your customers what their money should and shouldn't fund, in terms of television programming.

I've always been very happy with my service, but am ready to cancel it now. Where the hell do you get off on taking $150+/ month from me for services, only to tell me the content you provide me is crap? You should be more than happy to collect money from your customers regardless of what they choose to watch on television.

Alluding to the Trailer Park Boys television program is also very immature. It's a top-rated comedy show in Canada. There are millions of fans across North America; I'm one of them. If you want to criticize my television viewing habits, perhaps I should take my business elsewhere. Please consider removing the so-called petition from your website.

In the meantime, I'm considering moving my so-called account to another provider. As much as I dislike MTS, at least they don't post childish content on their corporate website, criticizing their customers' viewing habits.

Very well put Shaun, especially considering how mad you were in your first post.

At Shaw, we believe television should entertain

So Shaw have basically contradicted themselves.

At least you got a phone number...all I'm going to get is my name on a no fly list.
