Well - here's a blog post you guys have been waiting for... we got some information for you guys.. and it's posted exclusively on showcase.ca.

http://www.showcase.ca/BLOG/archive/2007/06/18/trailer-park-boys-the-end.aspx

:-s  I don't know how excited we should get just yet.  This news isn't exactly what the fans are looking to hear.  A 1 hour special...sometime this year???  And possibly another season???  Hmm.

In entertainment business, or any business for that matter, there's an old saying akin to "Strike while the iron's hot".  A little time off is ok, but wait too long and you risk losing viewership.  Here in :gocanada:, where the show emanates from, I know many fans have simply given up on TPBs.  I can only think of two ways this has played out:
1) They just don't realize how good of a thing they've got
2) They realize how good a thing they've got but are over estimating their staying power and simply assume fans will return no matter what they do or when they return

Unless the writers and producers feel that they've already covered all possible story lines, they must be failing to realize how important it is to be "in the now".  IF they do come back, I can foresee them having to work a little harder to regain the enthusiasm of the viewers.  One other thing to consider is how this break can affect a comeback.  Let's face it, things change, people change.  What if the material they produce is simply not up to par in comparison to previous seasons?

All in all, I have to say that this extended holiday (in my opinion) is a bad idea!
Life is like a game of poker.  If you can't spot the sucker after a couple minutes then you ARE the sucker.

Keep reading, they are filming another movie this summer.  The special should air in October.

October for the special?  Well, at least it gives us something to look forward to.  I did just a brief Google but wasn't able to find anything about this special mentioned.  Are there any details as to what it's going to be about?

One other thing:  how does one go about requesting a mod status?

No they don't like to give out too many details about plot.  I have heard cast members say it is really funny though.

To become a mod here you have to put in a lot of time here and really get to know the forum and TPB.  We aren't looking for any new ones at the moment.

I noticed in your "Contest" section that you asked how many cast members belong to this forum.  Assuming your contest is over, are there in fact cast members who are members here?
If so, who?

Drove by the park today. The security fence is beefed up from when I was there in the spring and there was a cop car and a jeep at the entrance of the park. There was no other obvious signs of activity but the security shed had it's lights on.
I'll check from time to time and let you guys know if there is any activity beyond that.

Greetings all the way from Sweden! :)

This show is too god damn good to not continue!!
Cant wait to see the special but another season would be greatly needed.
Its kind of stupid of Showcase not to have announced anything about another season yet..
but at the same time it gives the fans time to grow a bigger anticipation, and to gather more viewers just by reputation alone...
so they might just be making the second smartest thing with this freakin hold-up, the first would be that they produced the show at all :D
man TPB is freakin awesome! cant wait for some more and I know that there is a whole lot more people out there waiting to..
I mean, not only would Showcase gain some good income if they decided to do another season or two, they would get some serious recognition and some serious freakin respect from the viewers!
Its well worth the effort Id say..
anyways, have a good one guys! gotta open another bottle and light up that bong ;)

Needed fresh pepperoni today so I ventured over to Cole Harbour. I drove by the park and the gates were opened and there was a guy with a yellow Labrador retriever near the security shed. Not much else to tell. The trailers are still all boarded up. I'll check next week too.

Taken off the Showcase site. I'll use the spoiler function in case you don't want to read the plot outline.

Spoiler (hover to show)

Remember, this is the special not the movie.

I'm planning on visiting the park on Monday but not going to sneak in or do anything stupid. Just want to drive by and check out the activity. They'll probably do some location shooting as well. We have lots of eyes in the area to keep up on that news. As usual, we'll keep our distance and not bother the cast or crew out of respect nor will we "spoil" anything for anyone.

Offical Org Reporter Fishy, lol. I think we should take a vow of silence. Don't want any spoilers.

Or you could feed everyone false information like "Oooh, I saw a helicopter, six rodeo clowns and a tap-dancing elephant on set today!" Just to keep this lot on their toes.  ;)

I'll not spoil anything for any one, especially Melba. She friggin' hates that.
I did see a helicopter today but I don't think it was part of any shooting. I could be mistaken.

I sure hope they decide to continue the series.  I agree on the taking a break part.  It will give the writers chances to come up with new and improved ideas for the show.

I'd actually like to see 8 hour long episodes if they do make a season 8.  a 20 minute episode once a week isnt long enough.  they could show an hour long ep every two weeks, which would allow more development per episode and maybe it would keep the series from jumping around like season 7 did.

Dont get me wrong, it did keep a similar story line, but we never did see Ray after s07e04 until s07e10.  and we didnt really get to see J-roc and T all that much.

Anyways, thanks for the news, will be looking forward to it!

I think hour-long episodes are a great idea too. I'm lucky in that I just recently got turned on to the TPB, and I have only watched seasons 1, 2, and 5. Yesterday I watched the Christmas special, and tonight I'm gonna watch the TPB movie with my son.

However, I have a question: could it be possible that the series has pretty much done everything by now? I mean, how many episodes can you do about dope or kitties or drunkeness or whatever? Perhaps they've maxed their ideas out.

Taking a break? what successful TV series "takes a break"?? They are probably doing a one hour special as it's in their contract with Showcase. As for another season forget about it. Hopefully there will be a writer and some actors that can take over where Trailer Park Boys dropped the ball. There's obviously a demand for tv programs like this, so let's find the ones that can deliver and move on.

Hopefully those that take over where TPB's left off will give at least the normal amount of episodes per season.

Geez dude I don't mean to sound harsh but you don't sound like you truly love Trailer Park Boys at all. You sound like, "I just want a show like this one, and whoever can give it to me."

It went north of Sunnyvale and just gave the park a sprinkling yesterday. Sunnyvale is bathed in sunlight and temperatures of 20c today.
