feeling all fucked up
i watched every season again this past month, every special feature and every easter egg. its been along time since i've posted on here. when season 6 came out i complained about the way that it was, but now i realised it is still a classic season. The movie is funny in different ways then the show obviously because it was done differently. That movie always leaves me feeling upset at the end for some reason buy its ok because its the movie. Season 7 was a dissapointment. trailer park boys will never be the same again for me, i know it. It doesn't have the same feel anymore at all. the lines could still be considered funny and there are many in season 7, but all the fuckin small changes add up and ruin the mood of it. something that sucks and i noticed right off the bad is the new direction of directing, it looks neater and more professional but it also looks dark and depressing it doesn't suit this show at all and therefore makes everything seem less funny, second is certain parts of the story. the train idea is just so unreal it just makes me constantly thinking what the hell? the stories before were also pretty unrealistic but nowhere near to the point of stupidity. now you could say ya but dope being smuggled by toy trains is hilarious... no... its not hilarious... it can be considered funny but not hilarious. there are a few episodes from seasons 1-6 that i never found too funny the main one coming to mind is conky, i never liked that episode or laughed that much when watching it, and now they did it again but more crazy. i look at season 5 as an awesome example of a good story, tons of funny conflict IN THE PARK (not in a forest) between lahey, randy, and the boys. I remember watching that season and not being able to wait for the next episode because of how much the story was sucking me in, it made me angry and lahey and randy and i just wanted to see what happened, with season 7 i just couldn't take it seriously, it was like the lines that that characters said are funny and typical for them to say, but it is missing the funny interesting situations they get themselves into. Another thing was how cory and trevor were gone, and then it didn't make sense to try and replace them, they should have just let them go, they were hilarious and can't be replaced, jacob was better as an employee that had a scene here and there. it was too obvious that they were trying to make these random people cory and trevor it was just such a bad idea, and the way they are doing the endings now is just so unbelievable, happy music with talking (and great directing but not this shows style btw) where everything turns out good, however this may be the ending of the show we don't know yet and if it is, i think that was a good way to end it, there was just nothing in it that made me want another season to be like sweet i wonder what crazy shit is gonna happen in the next season like season 5 did. I watch season 6 and i don't understand how i could have complained about it while it was airing, it is actually not too far from the shows roots but this is. it is really hard to put all my seaosn 7 thoughts in words because i keep leaving stuff out but for the show to make me enjoy it again they would have to take a step back in terms of production quality which i know won't happen it will probably only get better so to me the whole experience will be more depressing. now i don't want people to complain and say well why don't you just not watch anymore, because i know there are huge fans who still love season 7, but you have to realise i am a huge fan too, and i still have the same repsect for the show and everyone involved in it, but i will probably only ever find seasons 1-6 and the x-mas special to be of equal greatness, season 7 and whatever will come after will have funny parts but probably won't ever be as classic... but i still believe that there is a chance i could be surprised, they obviously won't take a step back in the directing style which isn't the biggest downer, but i hope in the future they keep the storylines simpler, more believable and i guess you could say "serious", and i hope to god they keep it in the park more... that would be a great start... im not flaming and sorry to those who disagree.... and to those who a--gree.. feel free to start discussing it with me... i havn't fuckin posted here a long while

That's a very sad post to read for any fan of TPB, and unfortunately, I have to agree with it totally. The plot was weak, the jokes were poor........it just didn't feel right. Nothing lasts forever I guess, but after the disappointments of Season 7, I'd love just one more classic season for the Boys to go out with a bang, which is what the show, not to mention the fans, deserve.

I still love 'em tho, always will.

I wonder whether Ivan Reitman will be involved with the sequel?

Or will it be a 100% Clattenburg-full-on-guns-and-dope-stuff-what-Hollywood-want spectacular? I know what I'd prefer.  ;)

That's a good thought.
I think it may be better if he stays away from it. Only so Clattenburg can do whatever he wants.

I agree. It would free them up more to do what they want & what they knows will work, & not be constricted by what a 'Hollywood' someone thinks will work.

P.S. Nice to see you around Refuck!!

Yeah. And this time it is a little better. It won't be so watered doewn with establising the back story. This time they can do whatever they want. Also in the movie I wonder what Ricky's and Lucy's relationship is going to be like becasue they did get married and with that being its own storyline, that will make for an interesting storyline.

Hmmm. So would they have to stick to continuing the story from the previous movie (i.e. Lucy and Ricky married), or do something different. And still be different from the TV storyline (which may or may not have finished.)  Or continue from the S7 TV storyline. Or something.

*brain hurts*

hopefully, Ivan reitman stays the fuck out of this one with clattenburg learning the ropes on the last one but with hollywood as it says in the commentary, it is much more difficult for them to be fee because film is so expensive so if  you screw with it, there goes much of your budget (Season 1/2 commentary on why they motivate the cheapass look)

I didn't have a problem with Reitman producing the last one - he tried to make TPB accessable to a new audience.

(Or it got watered down and 'Hollywoodized' in the hopes of making lots of scrilla... take your pick...)   ;)

the film doesnt bear repeated watching in the way the series does, or the original pilot, or specials.  too much of it is rehashed from old episodes or spent on introducing characters we already know.  if it turns more people onto the show or makes money for the people who created it, thats great.  to me, sonny was cyrus and replacing trinity sucked too.  they do too much sex stuff and the music is annoying too (except for rush).  one of my favorite things about the show is how music is never a main part of it.  thats why it has such broad appeal, metalheads, stoners, rap fans etc. can all watch it without hearing music they hate at length.

the movie has some great scenes, dont get me wrong.  the parking meter thing, or the quarters falling out of the trunk immediately spring to mind.  however, take out the character introductions and rehashed sections of previous shows and theres really only an episodes worth of great original material left.  thus concludes my monthly rant on the subject.

What also happened with the thing was that as he said in the commentaries, This was more of a romance pic, The show and the original pilot was more a buddy pic. I do agree with you, The nudity in the show did annoy me (and as the commentary of the movie says, Ivan reitman being the king of x-rated comedy, insited having something that was nude in the pic.)

Oh well, hope the next one is more like the pilot movie and can do multiple views and still be very enjoyable

I have nothing against seeing a female breast on the TV or in the movies. (or online) but that is not what TPB is all about. It's not a sexy (read sexist~see Nigel Tufnel) thing, but more of a preference to the humour that is portrayed in the series. Clattenburg is brilliant when he is collaborating with the tight group he started with. There is the magic. 8)*

I really have nothing against it too. It jsut seems too out of place for the Trailer park boys.

They don't owe us any explanations. Anyway, it's fun to keep guessing what will come next!

hell yeah !! :D

I don't really care if they take a long time to make a new season, I know it will compensate for the wait, but I just cant stand not knowing if there will even be one, looks like now we know :D
