I will say it wasn't as funny as most episodes but I believe that is because there are trying to build the storyline.  Even so it is still better then 98% of the other shit on the tube.  I am a little suprised by all the unhappy TPBers on this thread but hey, that is cool.  I probably watch TPB through rose coloured glasses as it my favorite show.  Loved all the references already mentioned in this thread.  (posters in Lahey's office, Ricky saying "ASAT", the responses to Phil Collins.  I thought Julian should have kicked Tom Collins' ass though.  Anyway, bring on the next episode and Conky as I love him!  Peace.

Here's my perspective on Conky:

-he's a ventriloquist puppet
-he came out of nowhere
-the show was still supposed to be a mockumentary back then
-the sound effects and the smoke machine with the puppet coming out of the water
-as many people have said, the episode was great, with lots of great memorable lines and scenes, but the cheesy scary music and smoke machine was just too much of a stretch.  They want us to believe there's a film crew following around these guys, but then show a bubbling swamp in the middle of nowhere.
-to me, this episode was for the non-fans, in order to give them something to remember and the gimmicks usually work.

Ya I was torn on the Conky episode. On one hand it seemed to come out of nowhere and there were places where reality was stretched a little too thin. But my fuck some of the lines and scenes in that episode are classics.

I watched last episode again and I'm just not feelin it. Barb was great...love to see more of her and the other's {lucy,sarah,j-roc etc..]

And it's not about hating on the show. It's about fans commenting on the episode. Some liked it,some not so much.
We really don't need to bring the "like it or leave" stuff into it.
It's called freespeech. All opinions are welcome here.

I liked it!!!  Return to DRVS, new quirky characters, some comedy, some drama, and some suspense.  Not my favorite, but good just the same.
Damn it sucks not being able to see the episodes first hand again!!!

That's the point.  The train idea seems unworkable and ridiculous.  With the help of Sara, Trevor and Cory could have probably pulled off something better and slightly less far fetched.

controversy takes over the tpb forums.

conky episode was good. classic lines. doesn't need to come back.

patrick swayzie joke has been taken too far.

people in the forum are right: tom collins sucks!

j-roc, t, lucy, sarah?

the season must be judged in the end. it's always easy to say the past was better.

I agree and disagree with some people on this season so far. I think its good that they're trying new things. The show was always great and funny, but Leahey chasing the boys around for 6 seasons did get old. Its good they're trying something new. I kind of like seeing leahey grow up a bit, and things work out for him. For all the trouble he gives the boys, his life did suck allot, and I think the character deserves it.
The Collins family? Na, they can go. Those guys sucked. Phil was better as a background peace. And as far as Conky coming back? Hows that? He got his head blown off.
The absence of Lucy, Sarah and JRock is troubling, because theres some good storyline there they could explore. And Cory and Trevor cant be replaced. Not with these two new idiots.

And yes- The Patrick Swazie thing is overplayed and dead. They should have left it to that one episode in the beginning of the season, when they told the back story about the name. Although, it would be funny if he made a guest appearance. But thats not going to happen.

Was it as funny as past episodes? No. It had moments, such as the posters in Jim's office. But, I think it was good, and they set us up for the next episode, and left me wanting to know what happened.

Hey!  It could happen!  I still think the train is ridiculous.  They might as well be tying little doobies on trained pigeons and flying them to Bach's house.

I wonder if they will play that Patrick Swazie disclaimer at the beginning of every episode now  :?

I'm guessing they will cause the Swayze train is probably going to be there for the rest of the season.  They don't want to get sued by Patrick "My way or the highway" Swayze.

the whole operation could get fucked by bears even if they actually get the track laid and try running the train, because it could easily get knocked off its tracks by an animal sleeping on the tracks or the whole operation might get fucked by a bear...

Conky could ride on Steve French's back and guard the Swaze Express on it's maiden voyage to Maine.
I watched e5 last night and it's starting to make sense to me. Like a vintage wine gets better with time, so does this show.

Right on, Fishy. I eagerly get each episode at the beginning of the week and drink it in like a TPB-aholic, pleased to the nuts that Clatty and the gang have graced us with more enjoyment. Wherever they go I'll be along for the ride (and grateful for every bump in the road.)

I've watched this episode about 4 times now...  at first I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, and after reviewing the episode I'm still 50/50.

There was some really good moments.... like Philadelphia wailing on Ricky's car with the ladder as Ricky stomped all over the roof & hood, and then ultimately hit it with his hockey stick because of the 'scratches' from Phil.  Good one!

I liked the return to Dartmouth Regional Vocational School.  I really want to go see Nova Scotia and I really like the opportunity to see some scenery there.. parts of the city, landscape etc.  I like their trips into the city.  Especially when they're driving the shitmobile.

I didn't like how some old jokes were being re-used... for example when Bubbles called those two new stupid guys "twiggy alien men".  He used that line, almost word for word, during the Green Bastard episode when he was referring to Trevor and Jacob while in the ring with no shirts on.  Surely they could've come up with an insult for those stupid looking dicks that hadn't been used on the show before?

I don't know what role Tom Collins is supposed to fill.  He doesn't really seem to fit in at this point.  I think he kind of looks like "Legolas" from Lord of the Rings (but that's beside the point).  His acting may have been sub-par but perhaps that's the way he was intended to come across, and if that's the case then he did a good job.  I'll have to wait and see if he plays a specific purpose or not.  Not much else to say there.

... and I agree with many people here who are all wondering where Lucy, Sarah, J-Roc and T are!   Lucy is pregnant with Randy's baby!  (I still am wondering if it is actually George Greens).  You'd think that would be a priority of Randy's, or that Ricky would be preoccupied with this.  Where is sexy Sarah!?  J-Roc is such a great actor... why isn't he in every episode!?

As mentioned by several others before me - WHERE ARE THE OTHER CHARACTERS?  It seems like we got our J-Roc and Lucy fix in one episode and that is it.

I am going to speculate here and guess that the reason that we do not see them is because of money.  Since Sarah D, Lucy D, and Jonathon T are reasonably notable figures now I am sure that their hourly rate is going to be higher than what they were paid in the past.  Thus we get lots of screen time for the new faces working for base rate and hardly any for the old supporting cast. Could it be that most of the talent budget is being consumed by Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles?

Am I being too cynical?  Perhaps it has something to do with ego as well.  It seems like the cast members who have the most input to the writing also have the most prominent roles in the story.  It could be a coincidence I guess, but I have noticed that the story lines over the past couple of seasons have all but eliminated the supporting cast in favor of more screen time for Ricky, Julian, Bubbles, Randy, and Mr. Lahey.  I love those characters for sure, but I also really miss Sarah, Trinity, J-Roc, and of course LUCY.  Lucy and Trinity are what makes Ricky tick, and so far this season I have seen Lucy spend more time and show more love to Randy than Ricky - which undermines  a relationship that the entire premise of the show rests quite heavily on.

Could it be that the reason the car wound up in the water is because the New Brunswick and Maine are predominantly bounded by the St. John and St. Croix Rivers? I was wondering how they would get a model train across the border of the US if this was the case. Near Calais, Maine it's an easy swim across to the US and an easier trip by boat.

Some people in this forum seem to firmly believe that Conky will return.  Someone even said he was on some 'leaked' photos from Season 7.

If you ready my last post, I said that I didn't like how they're sort of recycling old jokes.  That includes Conky.  It was done, it was good.  No need for a second time around.

I wonder what'll happen to Julian.  He said (about the Monte Carlo) "Be careful, that car is my life!"

Well, the car is fucked now.
