Way To Go!!!!!

On Sunday morning I saw Austin heroes Robert Rodriguez and Harry Knowles give an award to the local guy who made "Hobo With a Shotgun," or, anyway, who might make it. You see, "Hobo With a Shotgun" doesn't actually exist. It's a three-minute trailer, full of fake scratches and stains, advertising an imaginary '70s-style film about an odoriferous, streetwise Robin Hood who seeks vengeance against corrupt authorities.

Full of explosive gore and wacky sight gags, "Hobo" was the winner of Rodriguez's "grindhouse trailer" competition, which featured such equally nonexistent runners-up as "The Dead Won't Die" (a pseudo-feminist revenge fantasy, with zombies) and "Maiden of Death," featuring a guitar-wielding and frequently naked female gunslinger. Based on this minisurvey of the grindhouse tradition, the key ingredients are grotesque splatter, bare breasts and elaborate fantasies of victimization and revenge.

They are starting production of the full feature film today in Halifax. I believe it's scheduled to film until May 20th. Tiggy and I are both hoping to be extras in this at some point in time although they are set to film mainly at night, all night. That may be a bit grueling. The other little tidbit about the movie is they have cast Rutger Hauer as the Hobo! I'll try and keep you guys up to date with any info on the show. Lot's of TPB alumni working on this film.

Three days in and a trailer is up! Nice one. Rutger Hauer is a great choice for the Hobo.

I love movie production blogs, they give you a great insight into the production process and contain lots of teasers!

In other Hobo news, Robb Wells will also be making an appearance in the movie. Awesome!   :D

A few photos from last night's shoot...


Around 5:30 am, looking for piss jugs outside Ray's rig (we were filming at the old trailer park set). Fishy seems happy enough, but I wasn't quite finished with my killing spree. I even got a (disarmed) gun to play with - I think it was Trevor's pirate gun.  ;)


Sunrise over Sunnyvale - or what's left of it.

Despite killing and screaming all night, I don't feel too bad at all! We were shooting a big and rather disturbing scene, Molly Dunsworth plays the female lead and she worked really hard all night. Jeremy Ackerman was playing a cop, he was great fun to watch. And of course Rutger Hauer was a real cool dude.

Nice thing about Thursday night was we didn't spend a lot of time sitting in the holding area. Lots of action and blood on the streets.
I would never strand a damsel in distress even though she had her boyfriend with her :lol:

I have to admit though, the picture of the Sunrise over Sunnyvale - or what's left of it." made me a bit nostalgic. :( I can picture the trailers in front of the lake... *SIGH*
