The Lower Deck, one of the better known pubs.  It is located on the Halifax waterfront in the Historic Properties.  You will hear Celtic and or Rock music and will likely have a good time.

The Thirsty Duck on Spring Garden Road is also a good spot, and don't forget to check out Bubbles Mansion  http://www.trailerparkboys.org/forums/index.php?topic=6025.0

Hey Paul!  I just read that very same article in this weekend's Times & Transcript (Moncton).  Pretty cool!   8)  I was surprised they didn't mention the Lower Deck too... or Peddler's as well.  The Marquee and Hell's Kitchen used to be great venues for live music... but I don't know what's going on there lately.  Are they still open full time??

Last I heard about the Marquee was they weren't open every weekend, I don't know if that has changed or not.  Yeah it is a great venue.

The Marquee will be only open for special events now. Their business hasen't been so great in the past couple years. My friend's bands used to play regular shows there.

Shake, that article is very true of Halifax, it was accurate for when I lived there. You go to an Irish Pub in Halifax, and it feels like you are actually getting drunk on the Emerald Isle somewhere!

The Split Crow is my favorite Irish Pub. The one here pales in comparison for my personal experience. (Especially since on previous visits to the "more famous" Irish pub here that I will not name, I have been pushed by a waitress apparently because I was standing in her way, a bartender tried to rip me off $20 bucks, and there are rumours that some people get a little "added ingredient" dropped in their drink from time-to-time, making them incoherent) My co-worker's husband had been brought to the hospital after going there, and they tested him to find out he had some weird shit in his system that was like a date rape drug, and other men's drinks had gotten spiked as well. Which some people think may of happened to me when I fucked up my ankle, but I say "why drug a 250lb hairy Newfie, instead of the regular victim, a pretty, scantily clad lady out on the town?"

My friends play here a lot as well, Great place! Seahorse is so ooolllllddd..I think it is over 250yrs old or something. The Attic is upstairs from the Liquor Dome, not too bad but not the best bar I have been to.

Everyone knows my opinion on these bars! Some great traditional/Celtic music here

Nice little bar, a little out of the way (walking distance) from most of the other bars, but a great place to sit and relax. You see many sweet Harleys and Choppers outside during the summer.  Don't worry, these bikers are Doctors, Lawyers, and Accountants going through Mid-life Crisis, not stab you in the face with a broken bottle bikers.
