What is the highest point on this planet?

That would be Mount Everest in the Himalayas 29,035 feet (8,850 M)

What is the greatest ocean depth on this planet ?

Basil Fawlty: Oh dear, what happened? Did you get entangled in the eiderdown again? Not enough cream in your eclair? Hmm? Or did you have to talk to all your friends for so long that you didn't have time to perm your ears?

January 1, 1901, with Edmund Barton as the first PM.

Where and when did "4:20" orginate?  :bigleaf:

Commonly accepted origin

    * According to Snopes.com, High Times magazine, The Marijuana-Logues, and The Straight Dope, in the early 1970s, a group of teenagers at San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California, used to meet every day after school at 4:20 p.m. to smoke cannabis at the Louis Pasteur statue. This theory is the most cited and the most widely accepted.[4]

One piece of evidence supporting an origin of the term from the time 4:20 is the fact that the term is always said "four twenty" in line with common U.S. termonology for time, rather than being pronounced "four-two-zero" or "four-hundred-twenty."

[edit] Alternative origins

    * Karen Bettez Halnon summarizes and analyzes several popular theories about 420, explaining how it functions as a multi-faceted expression of pot-smoker identity and community.[5]
    * H. P. Lovecraft's short story, In the Walls of Eryx, which contains the line, "My route must have been far from straight, for it seemed hours before I was free of the mirage-plant's pervasive influence... When I did get wholly clear I looked at my watch and was astonished to find that the time was only 4:20." Lovecraft describes these "curious mirage-plants" as having a "shaggy stalk", "spiky leaves", and "mottled blossoms whose gaseous, dream-breeding exhalations penetrate every existing make of mask." This theory for the origin of 4:20 was postulated on the official website for the American rock band Tool.[6]

Israel, well... after it was created from the ashes of World War II, Palestinians have been trying to assert their claim to the Holy Land as their own country. Both Jews and Palestinians have valid historic claims to the Holy Land, depending on who you ask. More recently, the Palestinian Authority, the defacto government in the West Bank and Gaza, has been rife with division over the election of a Hamas-led majority to the Palestinian parliament. Hamas, as many westerners know, has carried out a number of bombing attacks against Israel that western governments consider to be terrorist activities. Much of the west's funding for the Palestinian Authority has been shut off until Hamas accepts Israel's right to exist. The fly in the ointment for Palestine is its president remains a member of Fatah, which is a rival political group to Hamas. So, that's why we hear about so much bloodshed in Palestine these days and that's the latest on Israel. No peace negotiations have taken place in months due to the civil conflict in Palestine.

Okay, here's my question... Which team is the only team to have its name on the Stanley Cup, even though the team never actually won a Stanley Cup championship?

the 1918 Vancouver Millionaires all engraved their names on the trophy even though they did not officially win it under the new PHCA-NHA system. They had only won the title of the previous champion's league, and would have been crowned as Cup champions under the old challenge rules.

Because you're still using tape and not recording it digitally!

Seriously, from what I found on the Interweb, the reason your voice sounds different on tape is because that is the sound of your voice travelling through the air, which tends to carry more high-pitched sounds. By comparison, the sound you hear is the sound of your voice travelling through your body up to your eardrums directly. Due to the fact that sound travels differently through a solid substance, like your skin etc., the deep, low frequency tones are the ones that travel more directly through your body. Thus, your voice sounds different than it would on tape.

What is Canada's most southerly point of land? This is a trick question since it is NOT Pelee Island as many assume. I just want to see who can find the answer.
