A lot of people confuse it.. but Father Ted is actually Irish based.. the entire cast is all Irish as is all the locations where the show was filmed... no worries.. I used to think it was a British comedy myself...  :P

But my British friends set me straight..  :lol:

A little bit of pop quiz on Father Ted... the series was actually cancelled after Dermot Morgan (known to many as Father Ted) died in 1996/97 (if memory serves) - as far as is known.. the rest of the cast is still alive and kicking.. perhaps most shocking to fans is that Frank Kelly who played Father Jack was only in his 40s when he portrayed the role of the drunk old Father Jack..

...yes.. I know.. I have no life when it comes to mindless sitcom info..  :lol:

Being half Irish Catholic myself, :beermug: I am well aware that the characters and outdoors scenes were Irish, as well as the writers.  I refered to it as a Britcom because it was primarily produced in London, and aired on Britain's Channel 4.  I believe that the writers even refer to the show as a Britcom on one of the DVD voiceovers.
