All I have to say is: Thank goodness there's only 1 Rush song on it!! I'm sorry to everyone who loves Rush, but I just can't stand 'em.

I'm the exact opposite, I absolutley love em. I would'nt mind an all Rush soundtrack, but the one they did up kicks ass.

Not that I'm complaining, but I'm kind of surprised that they used Bobcaygeon from The Tragically Hip instead of The Darkest One, given the boys history with the Hip in that video.  But by that logic they would have to include Snow on their soundtrack, and I think we can all be thankful he isn't on there!

I was curious about The Big Dirty Band so I found this

Rock Hard
THE BIG DIRTY BAND Featuring Two-Thirds Of RUSH - Cover Of 'I Fought The Law' Available Online
Posted on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 00:13:31

THE BIG DIRTY BAND, the one-off project featuring RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson and singer/bassist Geddy Lee, along with former TEA PARTY drummer Jeff Burrows, Adam Gantier (THREE DAYS GRACE), THORNLEY's Ian Thornley, and singer Care Failure of Toronto thrash band DIE MANNEQUIN, have posted the cover of the BOBBY FULLER FOUR classic 'I Fought The Law' at this location.

The song is the first single/video from the upcoming Trailer Park Boys - The Soundtrack, which will be released by Anthem Records on October 3. The soundtrack coincides with the upcoming Alliance Atlantis film, Trailer Park Boys - The Movie. The video for the song - featuring the TPB characters of Ricky (Robb Wells), Bubbles (Mike Smith) and Julian (John Paul Tremblay) on the streets of Toronto - was directed by Juno Award winner Andrew McNaughton (Rush photographer).

The soundtrack also features a performance of 'Liquor & Whores' by BUBBLES & THE SHIT ROCKERS, who include Lifeson and BLACKIE & THE RODEO KINGS member and solo artist Tom Wilson.

The ALEXISONFIRE cover of BLACK SABBATH's ‘Sweet Leaf’ is also posted at the aforementioned link. The all-Canadian album also features songs from RUSH ('The Spirit Of Radio'), ROUGH TRADE, APRIL WINE ('I'm On Fire For You Baby'), THE TRAGICALLY HIP, WINTERSLEEP and SWOLLEN MEMBERS. Commentaries from Ricky, Bubbles and Julian are interspersed between tracks. Former HEADSTONES singer Hugh Dillon appears in the movie as a new character called Sonny. The film was written and directed by Mike Clattenburg and is expected in theatres next month.

Ian Thornley was the lead singer/guitar for Big Wreck an awesome band.

I can't recall thinking, "this music doesn't fit," anywhere.  Whether you love or hate whichever artists, the soundtrack is pretty decent. I agree though that Darkest One would have been a great adition.

I agree that the "Darkest One" would've been a perfect addition, and I don't know why they wouldn't have included it. Bummer, ya can't say that I really enjoy "Rush" either. I just started listening to "closer to the heart" because of the ep. with Alex Lifeson, and I'll have to say I like Bubbles'version better. ;)

Huh! When I seen Bobcaygeon on there I was glad because it's actually one of my favourite songs by The Hip but I'm wondering how they're gonna make it fit into the show. I mean, I can't imagine associating such a slow song with Trailer Park Boys. But, I trust they know what they're doing. ;)

Cool site here, you can download a couple of songs

http://www.myspace.com/bigdirtyband

I also answered my earlier question about the Raine Maida reference in Trailer Park Life, they've finally added the OLP sampling that J-ROC refuses to pay for (because he's so hard :))
to the song.
