Thanks everyone, regardless of the breakdown, we had a great time. Even at the side of the road. My wife is still upset about it, but I decided it was a good excuse to start shopping for new wheels.

Don't know about out there but Dodge Grand Caravans are getting pretty cheap for a 3 or 4 year old.  Probably around 10K here.  We drive a 98 GCaravan and i've seen that year for about 3000.

Watch out for the Dodge/Plymouth transmitions though! Many don't make it past 75,000 km. The plus side is that many with higher milage will have had it rebuilt already , usually with parts that are superior to the factory parts.....

I'll keep an eye on ours.  I've heard about other Dodges now that you mention it.

Our van has 140K now and we got it from my Motherinlaw so I know where it's been.

Yeah , ours has 350,000 km on it. We had it rebuilt at 300 , and the guys at the tranny shop were truly flabbergasted. They had never seen, in 20 years, a dodge/plymouth caravan/voyager make it so far on the original transmition. The key is , get the fluid changed  at least every 50,000 km!! You would be surprised at how many folks ignore this extremely important bit of maintenance.

Well....one of my co-workers gave me a car today. Nothing special but enough to get us thru till spring. Love how things work out sometimes.

Look at those very commanding mountains ! Glaciers ! Canadian Rockies !

I don't think I would care if my car broke down. Especially with people handing me beer.
