Things I Love About Eastern Canada
« on: Sep 02, 2006, 04:03 PM »
So .... just got back from 3 weeks in Eastern Canada - Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland.  Trip kicked ass huge - drove over 3,000 km in 3 weeks.  Got some pic's to post from the trip but right now they are just a mass of 1,500 or so pics on the HD  - once I get them sorted out I'll post some up.

Based on my trip, here are some of the things I love about Easter Canada in no particular order:

Old Sam Rum - my FUCK that stuff is good [my new drink of choice!]
Drive through LC in Dartmouth - didn't even have to get out of the car to buy liquor
Micmac Beverage Room and Grill in Dartmouth - the BEST steak in town AND under $15
The people are super friendly and laid back
Houses in Kingwood (suburb on Halifax [lookin at makin an offer on one ;)]
KOD donair's and pizza ROCK
Shooting the shit at the KOD on Windmill Rd with the guy who worked there was into TPB's
Fries, hamburger meat, and gravey in NLFD
Reasonable prices for all touristy stuff unlike Ontario where we rip off tourists huge
Summer is a resonable temp - no 45*c + crap where ya can't move or breath
Double drive thru Tim Horton's - haven't seen them anywhere but in the east
Chicken Burger restaurant in Bedford
That part of the country is beautiful

There's prol'y more but that's what I can think of off the top of my head right now.  FUCK I love the east coast :).

How bout ALpine beer?  I would have said Moosehead, but they sold out and are all over Canada now.

-potatoes
-trees
-freshest seafood on the planet
-bilingualism at it's finest (actually many more than 2 if you consider the local dialects)
-red sand
-local people

Can't wait to go back home in October.

See you made it to the Moose then!  I've been in the area the past month doing a bit of house-hunting - I love it there and prefer the East coast, but my other half wants to live in boring old BC (look, you've seen one mountain, you've seen them all, right?)

My poor old liver hasn't recovered from downtown Halifax yet.  Had lots of excellent Italian food at Piccolo Mondo (opposite the Neptune theatre), failed miserably to surf at Lawrencetown beach (bit chilly for my crappy wetsuit), jammed the TPB set entrance up with my motorhome, and partied with friends at Lunenburg. Great times.

And isn't PEI just the cutest little place ever?  Unfortunately there has been a downturn in tourists there, but sometimes it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Food there was awesome, but I noticed there's no JR Capone's pizza anymore!   :(

Oh boy, are you ever going to hear it from us West Coasters!  lol
I have never been east of Montreal, but I would love to visit the east coast.  Maybe in April.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense.  Their whole advertising campaign is centered around "you gotta live here to get it", except they send it by the train load out to Alberta.  It\s a  shitty beer, but I grew up stealing it so it's my beer.
