I'm glad you made it home safely, Jay. You are now among the lucky group of ORGsters who have had the privilege of experiencing the greatness that is D. You also now know that he has the ability to run your arse ragged. I'm so happy the two of you had the opportunity to meet. I love it when the fun and friendship shared here in our virtual trailer park translates into every day life.  :D

Thanks Fishy, and you're 100% correct Jen! Saturday night, after driving 500 miles in 9 hours, D drags(well, he didn't drag me) to the coffee shop and then down to the festival in Gent until 3am. And this festival is huge, I don't think I saw it all, either. I made him get me home at a reasonable hour last night so I wouldn't be beat driving home today.

Pics and stories tomorrow, I promise. Need beer, hash and sleep.

Just FYI, if you ever find yourself travelling on the Autobahn and stop at a gas statio/rest area, it's gonna cost you 50 cents to piss :o :-s

Word! I told D if Jay didn't make it back to Legoland in a timely fashion, we would know the secret ingredient in that spaghetti sauce he and his family had for dinner tonight!  :P

You noticed that Djet hasn't posted since yesterday?

Funny stories from the experience.
Monday we're walking into the coffeeshop and a guy walks out wearing a University of Cincinnati Bearcats T-shirt! I said "Dude, your shirt, are you from Cincinnati?" He tells me he's from France. I told him that I was from Cincy and he tells me that he spent a couple of years studying at UC!!
Sunday night as we were walking through the festival and I heard a few people speaking English. To me its easy to tell when someones first language is English and these guys we're speaking it perfectly. Asked them and they said they were from California.

A few people, D can vouch for one guy, after hearing me speak asked me if I was from England! :-s

Pic's:
1) The Castle(sorry don't know the name). If you look in the canal around the castle you can see the remains of the walls that formed the Moat.
2) Checkpoint Coffeeshop. This place was very cool and the owner is making money hand over fist, believe me. It's 3 levels, shop on the lower level where you can buy weed, hash, pre-rolled joints, cakes and cookies and pipes. The middle level is a bar where you smoke and drink inside or ouside and the top level is a nice, sit-down restuarant(no smoking).
The other three pics are just of Gent and the Festival.

We did a road trip from New Brunswick to Maine back in university just to pick up some smokes and a couple bottles of cheap liquor and smuggled half a dozen joints across and back.  They were too wet to smoke so we tried microwaving them at a gas station but that didn't work.  Got caught with the liquor and the 21 year old got banned from the states for a year.  We were pretty paranoid when we realized that we weren't going to be able to smoke the weed and didn't want to throw it away.

I came up witha  plan to stash it in the spine of cd cases.  Worked.  We were probably more paranoid than anything.

Glad you made it back with it all.

It actually wasn't that hard, the border crossings are non-existent now because of the formation of the EU. At the border of Denmark and Germany there are a couple of abandoned checkpoints where the A7 becomes the E45. The border I was worried about was Holland into Germany and there was just a sign saying Welcome to Deutchland.

I've also learned as I got older that your appearance and general mannerisms have a lot to do with how the law looks at you. They do checkpoints from time to time and they catch people, but I'm fairly certain that I could have gotten through almost any checkpoint. I've got short hair no piercing(any more)I drive a late model 4 door sedan with a carseat in the back seat. My papers are in order and I believe that I would have been waved through a cursory inspection. I would've been busted if they had brought out the dogs, though.

just put a dress on the weed, and strap it into the baby seat.  At least you are showing responsibility.

A couple More stories fro the trip.

Monday we're in the hashbar pretty early for a Monday. I grab a number and walk over to the supplies counter and asked for a pre rolled joint and a pack of screens. The chick behind the counter didn't understand me, so the old hippie sitting at the bar blazing up told what I wanted. She went to find them only to discover that they were out. So I buy my joint and as I'm turning away from the counter the old hippie hands me a screen! 8)very 8).

And now for the shocker.
As we're leaving the Checkpoint headed for Miami I stopped and decided that I didn't need 10 more grams of hash.

I also found out that theres a town in Holland about a 5 hour drive from me that has about 20 coffeeshops. :D
