Who's your favourite stand-up and why?

I think mine have to be in this order; Doug Stanhope (my avatar), Bill Hicks (RIP). Mitch Hedberg (RIP) and David Cross. David Cross and Stanhope are kinda reincarnations / protoges of Hicks, and Hedberg is just a crazy bastard. Unfortunately I've never seen any of these guys live but I fully intend on seeing Stanhope next time he visits this dull little island.

If you've never heard of any of the above then I strongly advise you search youtube for them!

And also, anyone seen 'snowmen hunters' yet? it's like a mini-series on youtube, of the mocumentary ilk that we love so much. gnome sayin'?

Oi!

you didn't say why he's so great. sell him to me.

I guess the purpose of this thread is to introduce people to new stand-ups that they may not have heard of.

Stanhope is an extreme version of Cross and Hicks combined, completely offensive but really funny with it. possibly my favourite comedian of all time. Hedberg (loads must have eard of him) is just a random bugger who makes jokes about how limes can save you from drowning and how he wrote a letter to his daddy about driving a steamboat. something like that. This Cider is making my head not work. make your own minds up.

Hedberg -

Stanhope - This vid = NSFW.

Billy Connolly, George Carlin, and an unkown female comic I once saw in Toronto. The audience was in tears the whole time, but I never heard of her again.  :(

He's not a stand-up as such, but Karl Pilkington is the funniest man alive.

Jeff Dunham's puppets especially Peanut, and how Dunham creates discomfort and embarrassment for himself via the characters leaves me in stitches.
