Ottawa-Gatineau has the fastest growing economy in Canada, according to an index that measures everything from job growth to bankruptcy rates.

The surge in technology activity is playing an important role in the national capital region's impressive showing, CIBC World Markets said in a report yesterday. Government and service jobs that helped boost employment and incomes also provided significant support.

It also cost 1500/month for a small one bedroom apartment.  Or 300,000 to buy a rundown shitty house.  Cost of living is way higher in Alberta than out east.  You could buy a house in Calgary this month, sell it next month, take the profit and move to New brunswick and buy a town.

but that's if ya have children and qualify for housing but before i moved here for a 2 bedroom appartment the most i paid was 400 a month heated...which is still pretty good concidering the cost of electricity now a days

I drove downtown today and thought to myself that I was glad that the shit I see on TV and on the internet wasn't around me in my real life. I would dread a life in a war zone. Grandad told me some stories of WW2 that really fucked me up in the way that I never wanted to experience war in person. One of my worst nightmares is that I am being bombed.

CBC said Israeli officials had called Canada's ambassador in Tel Aviv to apologize and promise a full investigation into what had gone wrong.

I don't think they really need an "investigation" to see what went wrong A missile was launched..people died.End of investigation.

 

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper may now come under domestic pressure to take a tougher line on Israel's actions. On Thursday he described the Israeli attacks as justified and measured.

In Ottawa, CTV television said around 2,000 protestors gathered on Parliament Hill to protest against the Israeli attacks and Harper's words. "Killing children is not a 'measured response,"' read one banner.

At this point it would seem it's Harper and Bush on one side{ what a shock }
and the rest of the G-8 calling for Israel to mellow out.

Gingrich is having a field day with this.

Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich says America is in World War III and President Bush should say so. In an interview in Bellevue this morning Gingrich said Bush should call a joint session of Congress the first week of September and talk about global military conflicts in much starker terms than have been heard from the president.

"We need to have the militancy that says 'We're not going to lose a city,' " Gingrich said. He talks about the need to recognize World War III as important for military strategy and political strategy.

Gingrich said he is "very worried" about Republican's facing fall elections and says the party must have the "nerve" to nationalize the elections and make the 2006 campaigns about a liberal Democratic agenda rather than about President Bush's record.

In short:It's important to start WW3,otherwise the Democrats will win the mid-terms and then the Republican Congress won't be able to "save" America.
