How long until the next use of nuclear weaponry?

This was a debate about Nuclear weapons and when they would be used again. It turned into another pick on the American government thread. Your arguments carry less and less weight everytime because you can't come up with new facts.

All I'm asking is for the same respect that we show you. Is that to much to ask?

Your government does NOT show us any respect and until they start to, don't expect us to. And since I pay income taxes to your country (which I do), if I want to bitch then I will, whether you like it or not, it is MY right! And that is the point you seem to be missing.

I'll respect YOU as an individual, but don't ask me to respect your government, please don't tell me these issues don't matter, because they are "old", because that softwood lumber issue effected ME personally, more than I care to share with you. And I do believe you asked WHY we as Canadians bash your government, to which I am giving you an answer.

Ok, you've peaked my curiosity. Why on earth do you pay American income taxes?

Because I work for an American hosting company, I also own several online businesses that I accept payments for in U.S. dollars, therefore I pay income tax to your country and my own.

That is wrong on so many levels. You should only pay taxes to the country that you live in. You should talk to your employer, you're getting hosed and I would question the legality of it. You don't live in the US, you don't get any benefits from the US, you can't vote in US elections and you damn sure aren't covered by Social Security. You should be paying income tax in Canada and Canada only. That is the epitome of  taxation without representation. I really feel for you, I do.

One of my business' is "technically" located in Arizona, 90% of my banking for my business is done in the U.S. and trust me I'd rather pay the taxes, then not be entitled to certain business perks. I'm not going to get into all of the details here but it is legal, I've long done and gone checked it out with an attorney, as well as my cousin who does my taxes, over 8 years ago, before I even started my one business.

I assume that you are entitled to tax benefits from the US as well? As long as you are cool with it I guess its ok.

I get some, yes, at the end of the day it's more viable for me to pay the taxes and get the perks, then it is to actually lose income by not having my business in the U.S.  ...... try coming here and starting a internet business through a Canadian bank, they don't see it as "viable income", yet they have no problem seeing it as "viable income" when they accepted my mortgage payments etc. if I pay taxes on it, it "should" be considered "viable income", but it's not, it's a complete joke.  And trust me, I bitch about my own government just as much as I bitch about yours LOL

and sorry to the other readers of this thread for once again straying off topic LOL

Is this our last stand? I've been told not to worry about things beyond my control, but it's difficult not to. There's bird flu, pollution, global warming, extreme weather, over population, oil consumption and now we throw in a potential nuclear threat from Iran. Dear, Lord! Where will we be in 10 years, 20 years, 30 years? Why are things done for national, religious and economic gain? Will we ever place the well being of humanity and the planet above everything else? Where did we go wrong? Someone please say something to make me feel better because right now it looks bleak.

War is all about keeping the fear alive....keeping the military industral complex running and making a few assholes at the top very rich. It has nothng to do with spreading freedom and democracy...it has nothing to do with making Iraq or anywhere else a better Country..or us any safer. It has everything to do with $$ and protecting "interests"

As to the debate about debating....you all know how I feel about that.As long as it doesn't get personal than I see nothing wrong with it..in fact I think it's really healthy. It keeps us engaged and alert...keeps us thinking....and mostly it keeps us exercising that very freedom we profess to want to spread. I think most of us here can engage in meaningful debate on an adult level without resorting to fighting and name calling and those that can't find out quick enough that shit doesn't fly here.

I think there's alot of really smart and interesting people on this board and I love hearing their thoughts on lot's of different subjects....especially the ones I don't agree with....cause they make me think.

respectful debating cheers! {to use a ben-ism}

DID EVERYBODY READ THAT !
Because THAT is what it is all about.

Don't be afraid. Just be excellent to one another in your circle, community, people who need help. But I'm begging you guys.......Fear Nothing

The fallout of fear is far worse than the fallout of a nuclear bomb.

There are 2 nephews in the middle east who are just like my 2 nephews in New York.
It's true. Start thinking like that.

Fuck the news. Fuck the government. Fuck the police. Fuck the powers that be and Fuck Nuclear bombs.

Let's start thinking about ourselves. Our community. Our Family.
All this Nuclear shit is just one more thing that distracts us from hope. dreams and courage. Gives you one more reason to say "what's the point". The excuse to cop out and say "we're all gonna die anyway."

CG if you are so happy to own this topic it's all yours. Read a book by Bishop Desmond Tutu instead of WW II.

OK Rambo ?

And any Hot Dog you  "bitch up"  better get shared with this bitch. No relish please. O:)

The Dude: Oh, no I did, but I spent most of my time occupying various administration buildings... smoking a lot of thai stick... breaking into the ROTC... and bowling. To tell you the truth Brandt, I don't remember most of it.

The sooner we nuke our way to total world disarmament and true peace, the sooner we can start working on seeding other planets and mining some for minerals :6paper: :ricky:
