So the forums will be going offline tonight at 11pm EST so that I can transfer the database to the new server, copy the forum contents to the new site, and then upgrade the current forum version to the most recent release.

This will encorporate some changes in how the forum looks, but much of it is minor (and ends up lookin pretty snazzy in the process). I've just finished converting the themes from this version to reflect the latest code changes - and really would like to get things going before the new season breaks, and we have a flood of new members.

I'm not sure how long all this will take, as I will be transferring the actual domain's DNS so it directs you to the new servers IP address - and these changes can usually take 12-24h or longer to propigate throughout the internet (your isp's records get updated a few times daily usually - just depends on how often and when they update)

This is the first step in a couple changes the site will be undertaking. The main page will be getting a new layout/design - as well as the RateMyKitties section (with added features - like all the hot or not sites out there). Hopefully there will be a mod/addon for the new board software coming out soon that will also allow everyone to have their own image gallery within the forums using Gallery.

No inconvenience at all CD. Great work, keep it up and I can't wait to see the changes.
That gallery option would be really cool.

sounds cool ..........CD can't wait to see it! Propagation usually isn't that long anymore depending on where ppl live too, so hopefully it'll be quick and painless ;o)

Just wanted to welcome everyone to the new server. There are still some bugs to work out that I'll be tackling after a bit of sleep. Namely the front page latest posts, and the general layout of the message listing needs fixing (like it used to be) - which again will take a little bit of time. We've got spell check though! and  hopefully some really cool features coming once I'm able to do error free installs of them :)

I've also done some re-grouping of the different areas, and hope that it'll be okay for everyone. The 'child' forums should allow more growth of sections without clogging up the main page too much - again something I hope goes over well :)

Unfortunately the user theme preferences had to be tossed in order to apply the template for the updated version in order to cut back on a bunch of excess/old/unused files left over from the last board. I'll be fine tuning the themes as soon as I can.
