Atta boy Stevie. Winning the player championship for us Canucks!!!

http://www.tsn.ca/golf/news_story.asp?id=160197

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP-CP) - Stephen Ames went from making fun of Tiger Woods to winning like him.

The Calgary golfer delivered a major performance Sunday on the treacherous TPC at Sawgrass, blowing away the strongest field in golf with a 5-under 67 to win The Players Championship by six shots and earn an unlikely trip to the Masters.

Ames made only one mistake, a double bogey on the 10th hole when he took two shots to get out of the bunker, and it looked as if he would have to battle his nerves along the scary back nine of the Stadium Course.

Instead, he poured it on with impeccable shots that stretched his lead so much that the tiny island of a 17th green was only another hole on his way to a dominant victory.

Ames finished at 14-under 274, six shots clear of two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen, who closed with a 69. Ames earned $1.44 million US for his second PGA Tour victory, and also got a three-year exemption to the Masters.

Absolutely humbled the best of the best out there.  Not bad for a guy from Trindad and Tobago who is now a proud Canadian - Go T&T Go... uuhhm... Go Canada Go!  Now, if Weir could get his head out of his ass he may get a better look at the fairway...  :D
Brandt: You never went to college...

The Dude: Oh, no I did, but I spent most of my time occupying various administration buildings... smoking a lot of thai stick... breaking into the ROTC... and bowling. To tell you the truth Brandt, I don't remember most of it.

Jeez, was this year's U.S. Open course ridiculously difficult or what? The top golfers in the world and the winner, Geoff Ogilvy, finishes at +5. Mike Weir tied for 6th place with +8.

I got a set of clubs over the weekend.  Can't wait to play my first round.  My goal is to finish every hole w/ a max of 10 shots.

Fuck it.  5 of each.

I guess I meant to say Strokes.  But if there's liquor on the cart, play ball.

In my world, those are the ingredients for the game known as 'Whack Fuck!'.

That's a bit rude man. Especially for a new member to be that bold. Try a different approach if you want to make a good impression here.

Well I played Thursday night.  shot 65 on the front 9, par 35.  So +30 for my first round.  Couple hilites were driving over a water hazard, getting a 6 on a par 4(best hole), and hitting a guy on another tee with one of my drives.  He said it hit him on the shaft of his club while he was in his backswing.

Definitely something I'll do again.

I hit my last drive on the last hole about 280 and straight as an arrow last night.  I bought a new square head driver and it seems to help me out a lot.

Best shot of my life.  Too bad I hit the next one into some trees and only double bogeyed the par 5 instead of the par I was aiming for.

Sounds like you had a rousing game, Shit Machine Gun.  :)

I'm going to attempt my first round since I was an 11 year-old hippy (My username has nothing to do with golf and everything to do with Ricky burning down Ray's trailer.)
On the 9th hole I will attempt to douse my ball with lighter fluid, light it and drive the fucker into the hole, golfin - golfin with flames!

What a US Open I think that was the best 4 rounds of golf I have ever seen.

At the start of Spring I dug the clubs out after a five year layoff. I didn't remember the game being this hard.  I think I need to drink more before playing that way I won't think as much.

I was really happy that Rory didn't choke. The boy is a good golfer and fun to watch.
As for me, I took out a membership to a local public course quite a few years ago. I didn't renew it the next year. I just plain suck at golf even though I enjoyed it.
