Thank-you kindly everyone! I'll post some pics of my other sister's Christmas present when I'm done.

The latest completed project, a shoulder bag for my other sister. I will be taking orders for man purses for next Christmas. :P
Finished the last knitting project for Christmas: another knit bear, this time made with fuzzy yarn!

I am sure that Shake will be the first one in line for one of those. Along with the matching fanny pack of course  ;)  :P

I can't post these pics on my Facebook in case the person this is meant for sees it. I've been friends with her since grade 1, she's having her first baby (a boy), so I made this for the baby shower.
Next on my to-do list are some Christmas presents.
Eventually, I would like to be able to make money off my knitting & crocheting, I just have to figure out how to make it into a business.

SMG, I would really want to knit everything myself to start, I wouldn't expect to have a ton of orders; but the problem is, you cannot sell items for profit that are made from someone else's pattern. So I'd have to come up with my own patterns. I would just have to get over my own laziness & resistance to learn how to run a business (if my stupid work would re-imburse me for college courses I would take some business classes).

The big problem is the knitting machines that mass produce knit items. The Luddites threw the looms out the windows.

Start small, come up with the patterns first then sell them at flea markets.  You could also post pics of them on line at various sites, including this one :)  Once you are on a roll get a website.  The business part is easy you don't need courses (this is from someone with a business degree), just work on the patterns and the knitting.

Come to think of it you don't even need your own website, use that ebay thing.

I thought knitting was used by retirement homes everywhere to exploit slave labor from old people and charge ridiculous prices for knitted goods. Thanks to this thread and some book-learnin i now know otherwise.

Recently, I croched a simple tea cozy without following a pattern which has inspired me to experiment a little more.
May I present the tea cozy designed for men who want to make tea time a little more masculine. ;)

Next year I want to try to supplement my income by selling some knit & crochet items. I realize the market is pretty saturated (by looking on etsy.com, etc...), so I'm not delusional about growing rich this way. I have lots of wool that's just sitting in Rubbermaid containers waiting to be used, so that's what I'm going to try to do!
I want to build up an inventory of items before I start up; I think smaller items like hats, scarves, mitts may be more popular because of the price point & shipping costs would be low.
But I would really appreciate any advice on the kinds of items orgsters would purchase if they were to purchase hand-knit/crochet items (for yourself or for gifts) & how much you would be willing to pay for that (taking into consideration the quality of product & time spent making it).

P.S. If you ask for a cock warmer (see SMG's post above), I expect you to include measurements & a picture or two for inspiration!

I hear those crocheted dish cloths are popular.
