what book r u reading at the mo?

I am currently reading the pianist - such an unbelievable story haven't watched the film yet but i imagine it doesn't live up to the book at all as they never usually do. But i find it better to watch a movie then read the book cos u tend to be so much more impressed e.g. shawshank redemption, rather than read the book 1st then see the movie e.g any harry poter altho movie & book r both fantabulous u can't help but point out all that is missing in the movie.

"What Do You Read " in "General Chat"
or click the Link Melba provided

A search for key words like "read" or "book" would bring ya there pretty quick.
Glad to see another lover of books here! :D

yeah found the thread nobody has replied since november so hoping to start a new 1.
love all stephen king (except the dark tower series was never able 2 get in2 it). also love jonathan kellerman & james patterson altho they both write serail novels abouts alexs so it can get a little confusing at times.really love how practically every story of kings whilst set in the maine area always mentions a previous character from a previous book! how much do u love this man?!

I read it in University for a course, it is an excellent book, I think the word magical is good to describe it.
Currently, I'm trying to re-read The Stand by Stephen King, but new DVDs are getting in the way.
Irish, what's your favourite Stephen King novel? What stopped you from getting into the Dark Tower series?

Been years since I read The Stand. I love the post apocaliptic thing.
My mom bought me the latest Gunslinger book , but I stopped at #3 many years ago and don't know if I'll be able to restart without going back to #1.

Presently , I am reading a great non fiction by Candace Savage , Crows. It builds on and reinforces what I know and love about corvuses. As smart as a chimp ( by weight). Tool building and using ,socially complex , advanced reasoners ! I love those birds , something that spans at least 4 generations in the Saucy familly.

Right now reading Hells Angels: Into the Abyss by Yves Lavigne... I like true crime stories and books about different bands... recently read Marilyn Manson's biography and Motley Crue - The Dirt.  I'm an incredibly slow reader cuz I was a proof reader for a few years and ever since then I not only read a book, I check it for spelling too... can't help it!!!

i have re-read all my stephen king books about a million times, its hard to pick a fave. never been quite sur why i didn't get into the dark tower series, i just remember starting to read the 1st one & it just didn't grab me but that was a few years back & i'm a much more patient reader now so maybe i'll give them another shot, at least it would be lots of new sk books for me to read! Currently reading maximum ride - the angel experiment altho it is a young adult novel its based on 2 other books he wrote previous called when the wind blows & the lake house. it's about weird kids with 98% human dna & 2% bird dna who have escaped from their lab - its nice light reading. also just finished the time traveler's wife by audrey niffenegger - great book - strange plot! also just about to start ham on rye by charles bukowski love his henry chinaski books (altho go back to what i said earlier about books not always transferring to film hollywood & matt dillion made a hash of factotum). i like to have 2 - 3 books on the go at the same time

I've been reading a book of short stories by Stephen King , on and off for 8 months. It's called "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" .
  Holy fuck , this is King at his WEIRDEST!! Stuff that he could never pull of in a novel , crazy shit , but a good read none the less.

EDIT:

I'm a very proud dad at this moment. My 8 year old son just finished his first novel!! 176 page book , written for young adults. Dragonsong , by Anne McCaffrey , the first in a 3 part series that I read to them last fall (I'm actually , presently , reading a 4th book by her to them , but not from that series. By his comments , I know that , not only is he reading the words , but he's really Grocking the story , evidenced by the subtlties that he's picking out to discuss with me ,stuff that explains some of what's going on in the book that I'm reading to them right now ( not the same series , but set on the same planet , with some of the same characters).

And 2 years ago , my worry wart wife thought that he'd never learn to read
