OK so it has happened at least twice now, I'm driving in my car and "Werewolves Of London" comes on and I get all excited.  I turn up the radio only to find it is only some dumb song called "All Summer Long" by that lameass Kid Rock.  I was wondering what the deal was so I googled and found this...

America, please resist. It's going to be tough, but I need to ask you to say no to a song that mixes "Sweet Home Alabama," "Werewolves Of London" and "Night Moves" into a new "Summer Of '69." Please, avoid downloading this, leave this type of summer jam (God, I beg you, don't let this be one) to Uncle Kracker, and take the effort to listen to the aforementioned four chestnuts separately.

Just listen to "Werewolves Of London" instead, it's 1000 times better :)

After last week's Helix gig, I was moved to post this tribute:

You may recognize the dude on the right on the main header picture... could it be our very own resident hair metal star...?

Bachman, Turner reuniting

By Darryl Sterdan - SUN MEDIA

Randy Bachman and Fred Turner are gearing up to take care of some new business.

The core duo behind legendary Canadian rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive has reunited after nearly two decades, according to a press release.

The reunion between the 66-year-old music veterans reportedly came about after Bachman asked his old bandmate to sing on his forthcoming CD Rock ’n’ Roll is the Only Way Out.

The pair are expected to officially announce their renewed partnership — which includes an album and tour — at a news conference in Winnipeg early next week. But don’t expect former bandmates Rob Bachman and Blair Thornton to be along for the ride. They’re suing Bachman and Turner to prevent them from using the BTO handle in the comeback venture.

During their ’70s heyday, BTO earned more than 120 platinum albums in 20 countries and topped the charts with Can-rock classics like Takin’ Care of Business, You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet, Let it Ride, Roll on Down the Highway and Hey You.

Must have run out of money. Making a new album is cool but does anyone really want to see two guys pushing 70 on stage singing songs they've been singing for 40 years. Not me.

Watching the who at the super bowl should cure anyone from that.

I remember learning that Kookaburra song in elementary school ha ha.

Men at Work told to pay royalties

By WENN.COM

A judge in Australia has ordered the songwriters behind Men at Work's 1980s hit Down Under to give up five per cent of the royalties from the song following a court battle over copyright.

Bosses at Larrikin music publishers in Sydney filed suit against bandmates Colin Hay and Ron Strykert, and the group's EMI record label, claiming the flute solo in the track sampled parts of Kookaburra Sits In The Old Gum Tree, a song written by an Australian music teacher for the Girl Guides in 1934.

The Federal Court ruled against the stars and their record label and ordered them to pay compensation, which could have amounted to up to 60 per cent of the song's income.

But a judgment released by Sydney's Federal Court on Tuesday has revealed the stars will only have to hand over five per cent of the song's proceeds dating back to 2002, as well as royalties from future earnings.

Judge Justice Jacobson described Larrikin's claim for a 50 per cent share as "overreaching, excessive and in my view unrealistic".

He added, "Whether the hypothetical bargain is assessed at 1982 or 2002, the percentage interest payable is at the lowest end of the spectrum."

Wow, that Australian music teacher has hit the jackpot! The fact that s/he is probably about 100 years old by now probably puts a bit of a dampener on it.  ;)

The 3 remaining members of Led Zeppelin will be on Letterman tonight!  Letterman and LZ were honored at the Kennedy Center last night.  Jim from the Office will be on too!
