Littlest Hobo: Old Cult TV Classic
« on: Feb 13, 2006, 11:57 AM »
Anybody ever watched the littlest hobo on TV in the 80's or Early 90's?
In the TPB Episode: Kiss Of Freedom, when Ricky has no money left and Bubbles gives him a T.V.
Ricky puts it on the roof of his car, and starts to watch The Littlest Hobo.
Ricky then starts Mumbling the Theme  Song ;)
Ricky:"Now helix, thats a real concert!: Gimme an R-O-C-K, then the crowd yells ROCK really loud."
Bubbles:"Im not givin' anybody an R"
Ricky:Rush just dosent do stuff like that, they write about stuff like how trees are talking to each other, or how each side of your brain works."
Bubbles: Gimme a fuckin' R..."

Ricky(Talking about Alex Leifson):" This man is drunk as fuck, He's High, He's a Male prostitute..."

Haha, I loved that show. One of those goody, makes you all warm and fuzzy shows. I remember as a kid thinking it was real and that the dog was just wandering all over Canada looking for people to help. Cracked me up, when Ricky had that on in the car!! Too funny.

I used to watch it also. I always felt a little sad for the dog during the end credits. Especially the final scene where it's dusk and he's sitting on a log all alone on the beach. :(

Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on."

I watched it a bit as a kid but it sucked pretty bad so.  Anyway. I recently visited South Hampton England.  I turned on the TV and guess what.  MAWAFAWKIN littlest hobo was on...funniest shit man.  The cool part was it was an episode staring a 13 year old mike myers.  It was an episode about a boy in his wheelchair.  Mike was his buddy.

I never watched that show... a friend of mine were telling me the other day that when she was a kid she was on the set for a tour and they actually use 4 or 5 of these lookalike dogs to be the littlest hobo ... well while she was there one of the dogs wandered out on the road and got nailed by a car!!!  Killed the poor fucker!  So her story was that she saw the littlest hobo get run over by a car!  not funny yet hilarious at the same time!   :?

I'm happy to report that The Littlest Hobo was aired in Australia for a few years during the 80's. 4.00pm each day.

^^^ Yeah I'm even amazed The Littlest Hobo isn't on CTS. Shows don't get any more wholesome than that.

it seems these good value shows are all gone....i really wish there were more shows of this calibur....everything for the kids nowadays is empty action/fighing/killing/car wreckin crap....this isn't what our kids need to see 24/7....

i seriously think that if it did come back in reruns...my kids would love it....they love watching the old degrassi reruns and the silly saved by the bell....way different from what is available to kids these days

I know the words to the theme song by heart too!

There's a voice,
that keeps on calling me.
Down the road, is where I'll always be.

Every stop I make, I'll make a new friend.
Can't stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll wanna settle down,
Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

Down the road, that never seems to end,
where new adventure, lies just around the bend.

So if you wanna join me for a while,
just grab your hat, come travel light,
that's hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down,
until tomorrow, the whole world is my home.

So if you wanna join me for a while,
just grab your hat, come travel light,
that's hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want want to settle down,
until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down,
until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

There's a world, that's waiting to unfold,
a brand new tale, no one has ever told,
we've journey'd far but, you know it won't be long,
we're almost there and we've paid our fare, with the hobo song.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down,
until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

So if you wanna join me for a while,
just grab your hat, come travel light,
that's hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow I'll find what I call home,
until tomorrow, you know I'm free to roam.

I just bought The Littlest Hobo Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 on DVD. There are several on eBay if anyone wants to re-live this timeless classic. I can't wait for it to arrive.

'Til then, here is the theme song free for download:

http://www.geocities.com/ommadawnn/

The final episode was a bit fucky, though.
Known in newsgroups as The Littlest Roadkill episode, London is mashed to a pulp by an 18-wheeler during the opening credits (reshot specifically for the finale) and scraped off the asphalt with a shovel. A variety of guest-stars from the show's most popular episodes then show up at the pet cemetery to reminisce over how the feisty little guy helped them through their troubles.

Most controversial of all though was the direct lift from Brian De Palma's 1976 movie Carrie when the final shot shows Sherrif Verchinski laying flowers at Hobo's grave and a mangled bloody paw shoots up through the turf. TV critics were aghast and the episode was pulled from its intended airdate of 14th March 1985. Viewers haven't missed much as the bulk of the episode was dreamy montages of old episodes but the missing footage from the opener and ending are like Cult TV gold dust.

After reviewing my purchase, I hope I didn't fuck up and buy the original series (from the '60s) instead of the '70s thru '85 series.
The ebay ad was vague and I jumped on it quickly...bad combination. Fuck.

The series is the old one. The newer one isn't available for sale yet. Still, the old series is cool as fuck. Different theme song, very cool stories and an awesome dog. I recommend it to anyone who digs nostalgia, likable (and hate-able) characters, and a bit of humor.
