I've been a canucks fan forever, but they were the damn kings of inconsistency this year.
Why didn't they do something meaningful at the trade deadline?
Give me a friggin' D-man that will actually stay on the blue line!
I agree, I hope they do something in the off-season. Crawford gone? I'm starting to hope so too!

LOL! Rub it in...the Nucks deserve it....and the Oil deserve that 8th spot. They earned it.

I suspect we'll see a gutting of the team. Obviously first priority is keeping the Sedin/Carter line here.

Goaltending is a mystery. What to do with Clouts? Can he stay healthy? I like Auld's progression but he still needs work.Mabye a tandem situation? Where does that leave Norenon?
I think trading Clouts is going to be tough...

I think it's pretty much a fait acompli that Bert's done here ,as well as Morrison. Which is fine with me. The only way I'd even considor keeping Bert is if they find him and Nassy a quality Center. I mean shit,I was watching the game last night thinking ....can you imagine if those 2 had a guy like Thornton up the middle?

Our D is a mess.Jovo proved how much he was missed but his injuries make me wary.Keep Ohlund..I think he's probably one of the most underated D-men in the league. Ditch Allen or at least teach him how to keep the puck on the ice and out of the stands! God what an ass taking those stupid penalties last night.

Everyone else is pretty much expendable{well mabye not Kessler and some of the young guys]

And yes...Crow should be canned.

who are free agents this offseason?  Hard to trade Bert for the salary he's got, unless he's headed for FA.

a little dated but I got this from my Hockey forum...someone posted this a few months back when we were discussing this very topic.

Quote
sedins 1 year...
naslund was 3
morrison 2
bert still has 3 left.. ?

the UFAs RFAs etc of vancouver are

VANCOUVER
Nolan Baumgartner, (III)
Wade Brookbank, (III)
Sven Butenschon, (III)
Anson Carter, (III)
Craig Darby, (III)
Jason Doig, (III)
Wade Flaherty, (III)
Lee Goren, (III)
Josh Green, (III)
Ed Jovanovski, (III)
Trevor Linden, (III)
Richard Park, (III)
Jarkko Ruttu, (III)

Tyler Bouck, (VI) (7)
Maxime Ouellet, (VI) (20)

Bryan Allen, (II)
Alex Auld, (II)
Josef Balej, (II)
Ryan Kesler, (II)
Jason King, (II)
Kirill Koltsov, (II)
Steve McCarthy, (II)
Rob McVicar, (II)
Tomas Mojzis, (II)
Brandon Nolan, (II)
Prestin Ryan, (II)
Jesse Schultz, (II)
Daniel Sedin, (II)
Henrik Sedin, (II)
Nathan Smith, (II)

Anyhow long story short...Bert ,Nas and B-mo still have years on their contracts. Sedins need to be re-signed.

I think we could dump Bert. He's still a quality player,{just not here in Vancouver} He could easily regain his former self in a new town....mabye?
That or we ditch B-mo and make a play for a really quality center...but that's going to cost.

Tough descisions ahead.

C'mon, who wants to play us in the first round?

Report: Canucks fire head coach Crawford

The Vancouver Canucks have called a news conference for 6:30pm et/3:30pm pt where they are expected to announce the firing of head coach Marc Crawford, according to Mojo Radio in Vancouver.

According to MOJO, no replacement has been named.

With Crawford at the helm this season, the Canucks finished with a 42-32-8 record and failed to make the playoffs for the first time in six years.

Crawford holds a career record of 411 wins and 285 regulation losses in 823 regular season games.

He was hired as coach in 1999 and holds the club record for wins with 246.
