Excellent thread J!

A good place for me to post a pic of 3 of my favorite Leafs fans.

Robb Wells, me (in the middle) and my best friend (the guy in the Leafs shirt).  Mike Smith is a Leafs fan as well.  So TPB fans give the Leafs Respeck!

Ah, I feel so at home here. I love the Leafs but they're definitely one of the most frustrating teams to cheer for. They're on a 6 game winning streak which is good, but I'll never understand why they play their best hockey when some of their key players are injured. Why can't these guys step it up all the time?

It's very exciting that Pogge is a Leaf prospect.

i hear what you're saying, but this year seems different.  yes, they replaced the likes of Roberts, Niewendyk and Nolan with Lindros, Allison, O'Neill...but for the first time in a long time, there are a significant number of rookies who have stepped up to fill the void when guys have gotten hurt.

Steen, Wellwood, Colaiacovo, and Kronwall have all exceeded expectation so far.  hopefully when the injured players return they will only get stronger.

this roadtrip will be a big test.  they'll have to play even better to keep the winning streak alive out west.

They have to take advantage now that Ottawa is in a bit of a slump (well, a slump by their standards).

Have you guys heard the latest garbage that is coming out of Leafland.  I heard, that Brian McCabe is being considered as a frontrunner for the Norris trophy.  After I was done laughing, I immediately refuted that statment with the following:

Norris Trophy - Awarded to the best Defenseman.  Where is the defense with McCabe?  He can't even make Team Canada even though he is leading the NHL defensemen in points - his defense is that bad!

What a joke!

The Dude: Oh, no I did, but I spent most of my time occupying various administration buildings... smoking a lot of thai stick... breaking into the ROTC... and bowling. To tell you the truth Brandt, I don't remember most of it.

Well, with all due respect to Bryan McCabe a defenseman is also supposed to prevent other teams from scoring. His plus-minus stat is +6. The top 5 plus-minus defensemen, as of this morning, are:

Joe Corvo (LA) +27
Andrej Meszaros (OTT) +25
Wade Redden (OTT) +21
Chris Phillips (OTT) +21
Zdeno Chara (OTT) +20

However each of these five players don't have as many goals or assists as McCabe. It's easier for players in Ottawa to have great plus-minus stats since Ottawa has scored the most goals and allowed the fewest (no doubt a credit to their defense and goaltending). I have no idea what stats are used to select the recipient of the Norris trophy but I'm assuming it’s a blend of goals, assists and plus-minus record. GO LEAFS GO!

Defensive rookie of the year, I'm pissed the Oil skipped him.

During the last playoffs after the Leafs were eliminated I was cheering for Calgary. The Flames did get robbed. The cup going to Tampa Bay was such a waste. As long as the Leafs are out I can cheer on any Canadian team except the Senators.

Quick question, hellfire: I see you're from Alberta, so do you hate the Oilers as much as I hate the Senators?

I thought I would just stir things up with the McCabe statement.  It's not like my team has been doing anything other than getting laughed at by everyone for trading away Thornton.  That's right!  I'm a Bruins fan.

1. Bruins
2. Senators
3. Leafs (Only to laugh at them for being just as futile as the Bruins!  They are entertaining to laugh at.)

As well, how many people are ready to see Bob Cole leave CBC.  That guy is so irritating, inaccurate and inept - I feel like Jackie Chiles from Seinfeld!  And while I'm at it, Harry Neale and Joe Bowen can go as well.  Blocking arm save, what is that?!?  You don't say catching arm save.  It's a blocker save Joe!

GO BRUINS GO!!!

Oh, I couldn't disagree more. I love listening to those three. I hope they stick around for as long as possible. So they screw up here and there, I don't care, it's a live broadcast so mistakes will happen. Maybe their age is starting to catch up with Cole and Neale, but I still don't want them to go. I understand why Leaf haters want to see Cole gone. As much as he insists he's impartial I think he's pro-Leaf. Joe Bowen is Leaf fan so the way he calls the game speaks for itself. I certainly wouldn't listen to someone calling a Leafs/Senators game if he was a Sens fan.

do i want them to leave?

Bob Cole - no (my favorite play-by-play man of all-time)
Harry Neale - yes (he's drunk off his ass half the time)
Joe Bowen - no (yes he's a homer and not a particularly great pbp guy, but his enthusiasm makes up for it)
