it's just too sweet.  Rask played great but Pogge looked super-solid.

you heard it here first...Pogge might be back in Vancouver in 2010.

Leafs look set in net for the future.

Love watching all these prospects to see who'll actually make the show.

Last year's team was stacked.  Theres already a half dozen in the nhl already.

Just watching the highlights, looked like a really exciting game! I'm not a huge sports fan, but hockey is a sport that I will watch.

CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM CANADA, THE WORLD JR. CHAMPIONS!!

Congratulations to Team Canada! This was a much deserved win. They played great throughout the entire tournament. I just wish it was a victory free of controversy. That Russia goal when Canada was up 2-0 should have counted. It would have put them back in the game and then who knows what would have happened. As the guys on TSN correctly pointed out, Canada would have screamed bloody murder if the same had happened to them. Just imagine what a disaster it would have been if Canada had won by one goal. Fortunately it was a blow out. Canada was strong defensively, offensively and delivered some huge hits. They were clearly the better team.

It was definately a great game. Congrats to Canada!! We truly know our hockey! :D

I think it's great that Toronto is getting Pogge. What a good player!

I agree about the goal that Russia did deserve to have. If it were us, we would have been freakin' out! But it was obvious that Canada played the better game.... Russia should have tried that much harder. But I kinda felt bad when the Russian goalie went off crying.... he cried hard!!

That goal didn't matter that much, you could tell Canada was a team of destiny.  I think the announcers overdid the "What if it was Canada" thing too, we've had way more than our share of calls against us over the years.

Russia got robbed of a goal, but not the gold.  It was a dominating performance by the kids.

Exactly.   Russia had some great moments that made me nervous.  But all in all, Canada wasn't going to let Russia get the better of them.

Though I think it unfortunate that Russia wasn't allowed the goal.

Win or lose, this is the kind of hockey I love to see.  Fast and hard hitting.   One of the best games I've seen in a long time.

Very Proud of these kids.   :beeer:

Well, it was an awesome game and ya, I felt bad for the Russians missing out on that goal, but that's what happens when you're not on top of the game ! The Canadians played awesome and I'll have to agree with you Islander that it was one of the best games I've seen. I'm looking forward to Olympic hockey now! Go Canada!!!

I think maybe the IIHF rules may be changed after this.  NHL rules allow the goal because nothing important happened in hte next minute.  They could just roll back the clock.  But international rules don;t allow it.

And really, no one was on the ball with this.  Russia, Canada, the Ref and the goal judge didn't see it.  Not until an unrelated review of the play did someone see it.  Oh well.   A small chance that Russia would have fed off it but Canada wasnt going to be denied last night.

One thing I didn't care for was the chants of "UNDERRATED" at the Americans during the USA-Finland game.  Booing Jack Johnson was amusing as heck.   But these are kids.  The USA had a great team that couldn't capitalise like they should have.  That unfortunate display against Swtizerland was the turning point for them.

(actually each team had a hard time with the Swiss)

Pogge won the tournament MVP so he didn't need the best goaltender.  MVP is much more esteemed.

ya...let the Finn have it......poor guy faced over 200 shots this tournament.  I don't think any other goalie came close to the barrage he went up against.....I think Pogge only faced about half that. :D
