My Uncle Jay died this year. We were at his son's 50th birthday party at a resturant near Pittsburgh. As we were about to leave he asked if he could catch a ride with us since my mother lived next dorr and he was watching my boys.

We said our goodbyes, and as we turned to leave I noticed a movement out of the corner of my eye. I turned and watched my uncle fall back and down and hit his head on a step as he fell. The paramedics came and worked on him but I knew he was dead when he hit the floor if not shortly after. It took quite a while to get the image of his face as he fell out of my mind though.

I guess if you are going to check out, going in front of the people that love you, your family and friends is the way to go.

My Dad has cancer and it's worse watching him waste away little by little. I think I would prefer my uncle's method.

My Grandma Stella passed away at the age of 91 on 15 Mar 2005. Now all of my grandparents are gone. But I am lucky because I did get to know all four of my grandparents. A part of each of them lives in me still.

Basil Fawlty: Oh dear, what happened? Did you get entangled in the eiderdown again? Not enough cream in your eclair? Hmm? Or did you have to talk to all your friends for so long that you didn't have time to perm your ears?

EDIT You didn't ask for a story, and i don't feel comfortable giving details or names, it's not my story to share anyway.  But the sentiment remains the same, we still miss him, and no parent should have to cut their son down from a noose.

Peace.

In Australia... progressive Industrial Relations policy died. Along with my pop, thankyou for letting me write and read your euology. And PAUL HESTER FROM CROWDED HOUSE.

Paul Hester was one of the most magical men who ever came out of Melbourne. His mother was a jazz drummer who taught him to play and he was the spiritual lifeblood of one of the greatest bands of all time.

We love you Paul. Elwood loves you. And everyone who ever felt the depths of Crowded House feels the same way. I saw you open with your new band for Lenny Henry at the Melbourne Concert Hall (and of course, 'Hessie's Shed' on SBS) and I'm glad I got to see you before you died. We still love you, I wish I'd had the chance to talk you out of it.

Also Jimmy Smith - The soul organist who wrote and performed 'Root Down' under Vibe Records died earlier this year. Many of you would have heard Root Down remixed into the Beastie Boys rip-snorta (aptly named 'Root Down').

He has a soul version of Peter and the Wolf as well.

Go on. You know you want to. "It's not a put down! I put my foot down! and when I'm making some love, I put my root down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

On December 30, 2005 opera singing Italian Chef Pasquale Carpino passed away due to complications from an operation. He was 69.

As a kid, watching Chef Pasquale on TV was just as entertaining as Mr. Dressup or Sesame Street.

Hunter S. Thompson has had a great deal of impact on my life. I have never or will never look at life again the way i did while Hunter was writing. There can be only One Dr. Gonzo.
