My brothers big Alan Thicke story is years ago I guess Alan had a cottage just north of here and during the summer on a cheap tuesday night and I guess he brought his kids into town to go to the movies and my brother met him, he still brings it up whenever I tell him about all of the famous people i've met.

Sharing alot of common DNA with someone who's met Alan Thicke must be the coolest. No wonder he's bragging. My brother is in Vancouver right now so... maybe. Somehow. I could happen for me.

two thoughts come to mind when reading this thread.

one: when i lived in peterborough for a short period of time (mercifully short) someone yanked the "L" from the Peterborough Public Library lettering. i tell ya, it was a classy town to live in.

two: yes, growing pains was pretty crap-tacular. i was always partial to mr. belvedere myself. the comic stylings of bob euker? c'mon! that was gold! what about the oldest son on that show who was later rumoured to be marilyn manson!

OK, i didn't mean to jack this thread. i never watched growing pains. my friends all called it groin pains cuz we thought alan thicke was a dick. secretly, we were all just jealous of his good looks and immense popularity.

I think pretty much every kid on a sitcom from the 80's has been rumoured to be Marilyn Manson , come to think of it ALF and him do look kinda familiar:)

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. But don't forget the smoothe dulcet tones in his voice (like Dean Martin on heroin, if you will). He makes love to his audience whether they like it or not. Figuratively.

OK. I wrote off my email to Alan. And it goes a little something like this.

Hello!

My names Shannon and I live in Melbourne Australia. I spent a lot of time watching Growing Pains as a child and since then we havn't seen as much as Alan here as we would like. Is there anything coming up that we might get to see here?

Also Alan, we are having a lot of trouble with terrorism here at the moment. I know that Canada is very politically progressive. Do you have any thoughts on these things? And have you ever considered being a politician?

Thanks for the laughs and many great memories!

Cheers.

Now we play the waiting game.. Ball's in your court Alan.

Okeydokey...  :x STILL no response. You'll notice that it's been just over 6 months now.

I just sent this through to alans published email address..
The waiting game is over.  :P

Hi Alan,

I sent a question through your site some time back.. is there a chance that it might have been lost?

Hope everythings going well for you and yours.

Kind regards,

Shannon :)

NEWSFLASH
80's TV icon Alan Thicke reports that he has a stalker in southern Australia. The person, identified only as "Shannon" has been flooding Mr. Thickes email box with strongly worded demands that the TV star visit Australia and that he needs to make new shows to appease fans worldwide. Mr. Thickes only response to our questions was "Australia, isn't that a penal colony of England?" Mr. Thicke seems to be behind the times. 200 years behind the times.

So I'm surfin' the tv guide last night and I see "Celebrity Chef's" and think - that's gotta be so lame I have to check it out" lol.  I flip to that channel and who is the first face I see - the host - Alan Thicke lol!  Turned the tv off and went into the bedroom and picked up a book and started to read. Don't think I'll be turnin' the tv on until next Sunday night now .

I always thought Alan Thick was kinda like the Pat Sajack of Canada... very popular, good lookin I guess, hangs out with totally hot blonde, but SO boring!  Those guys are the plain Jane's of television.  Of course after he keels over, we'll all be saying how much of an incredible talent he was and that we ALWAYS loved and cherished every word he said and everything he did.

just like they did with John Ritter...

Hey!! Stop talking about JOHN RITTER!!!  :offtopicman:

Just kidding.  :P I'm really very touched by all your heartfelt tributes to Alan. At the end of the day.. that's what this thread is all about. 'Stalking' is such an ugly word.

This morning: got up and checked my email - nothing yet. Although I understand that Alan may want some time to properly consider his response. It's a mark of a wise man.

In the meantime, a poem for my fellow "Thickees" in haiku form:

Stag on a cliff top
Cower in it's majesty
Alan be thy name

Interesting. Needs some elaboration... and probably the word 'alledgedly' in the story at one point or another..  but if you need to get something Thicke related off your chest, then this is the appropriate arena.  :!:

Mr Thicke hasn't responded yet? That's just plain old rude! I'm completely embarrassed to call this guy my fellow Canadian.

I'm glad you resurrected this topic SC, I had a good laugh reading the old posts you've made.

....I'm so angry I can't even speak  :angry!:

I draw the line at faking an illness to get a response. Maybe this old Growing Pains fan should know when he's defeated..  :(

"...show me that smile - again.. don't waste another minute on your crying.. we're nowhere near the end.. the best is ready to begin.."

(EDIT) PS - Quote "I am sure you both get the star-struck emails by the thousands.  This isn't about being a celebrity, its about someone who took the time to listen and share a very important thought, a personal thought, a friendly smile"

Will I ever get to feel this way..?
