I can't believe there isn't an Alan Thicke related thread in this org already! I spent a potentially damaging amount of time witnessing the comedy acting stylings of Alan ((EDIT - Is that too familiar? Maybe 'Mr. Thicke' is more appropriate.. or T-Bone... in time - perhaps even Mr. T)). I hope that there is an Order of Canada and that Mr. Thicke has been bestowed this honour.

Since many of the orgstersers are Canadian.. has anyone ever encountered Mr.Thicke in the thicke, thicke flesh? I imagine it's awe insipring. Much like meeting Tom Selleck.

I knew a bagpiper from Ontario who was the spitting image of Alan Thicke. On time he was flying in to Cape Breton and some other pipers decided to greet him at the airport in Sydney with a big fanfare. They got all decked out in their kilt uniforms and waited for him with a big "CAPE BRETON WELCOMES ALAN THICKE" sign. When he got off the plane they piped him through the airport to his car. All he could do was smile sheepishly.
"In what respect, Charlie?"

Bagpipers get all the good breaks... I wish I'd practiced more.

The first time I went up to Kirkland Lake I didn't know it was hit home town.  Within 5 minutes of hitting town it was PAINFULLY obvious - signs and billboards EVERYWHERE!  Those Kirkland Lakeites are proud folks!  FWIW, I think he spends most of his time now doing developemental work for new tv shows.

Maddoggysyle!! All good lassies are mesmerierised by the pipes, lassie! I think that it's traditional for a scot to demonstrate his pipe skills prior to marriage. Or I could have made that up for a cheap 'pipe' gag. I'll let u be the judge.

Do u think that the name of his home town endeared him to Kirk Cameron? That perhaps, maybe they based a special bond on that one spurious link? I hope so.

And Alan Thicke involved in production? Can you imagine the possibilities?? That man can be anything he wants to be when he sets his mind to it. And his bouffant is very intimidating visually. I'm sure many potential rivals cower in the shadow of such a potent bouffant.

The last time I heard of Alan in the mass media was when he was maliciously accused of touching up contestants at a beauty contest while allegedly intoxicated. I'm hoping that in a small way that this thread contributes to the already vast body of positive commentary on the lifeswork of Mr. Thicke.

I encourage other Orgersterza to add their own feelings.

I've done a little more research. Some of you may want to check out this site:

www.alanthicke.com

There is a section where Alan even answers questions from fans. It seems that no one has asked yet tho.

I was able to find out that Alan has written a couple of hilarious books on parenting. The reason I use the word 'hilarious' is because that's the word he uses on his site. Dr. Cliff Huxtable would be spinning in his grave. The titles of the books, incidentally: 'How Men Have Babies' (ouch, fuckin' ouch!) & 'How To Raise Kids Who Won't Hate You'.

We know that Alan raised some wonderful children on Growing Pains. Sure, they sometimes got into some wacky misadventure, and there were times when it seemed like Kirk Cameron's voice would never break. But overall great kids. Here's a tribute to my favourite Seaver child - no, not Mike: Ben.

[To set the scene: Vito is handing out invitations]
Stinky: What does RSVP mean?
Ben: Don't be an idiot, Stinky, it means Refreshments Served at Vito's Party!

Remember Boner? Bwahahaha!!
I'm not sure if this was from Growing Pains, but someone changed a sign that said 'Public' to 'Pubic'! Will the hilarity never stop!?!

Man, I'm tired.

Melba, I do remember Boner and I was very very close to making reference to the 'Pubic Phone' episode. I think it was a part of a film the Seaver kids were making in that ep.

And to answer your question: No, the hilarity is unlikely to end any time soon.

Melba, I was trying to think of something relevant write in response and all I could think of was something totally irrelevant to the thread, but precisely relevant to ur avatar:

"Carlotta was the sort of place where they spelled 'trouble' T-R-U-B-LE, and if you tried to correct 'em - they'd kill ya".

I havn't seen Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid in quite a while! Alan Thicke doesn't wear plaid either. At least not to my knowledge. Now I have to think of some questions to post on his site... any suggestions?

To expand on the reach and power of Alan Thicke, one only has to harken back to the episodes when Leonardo Di Caprio got his acting start as a little prick named Luke.  Do you member?

I reckon the funniest thing about that was the fact that Leo was the most masculine of all the male children in the house. They should have had an episode where Luke steals Mike's fiance and his credit card before being arrested DUI with a bottle of Jack Daniels laced with 15 dissolved acid tabs. Of course, the Seavers forgive him and welcome him back into their home - but then they give him a 10pm curfew so he burns the house to the fuckin ground. Theme music. Credits.

Yes Melba, that's correct. The FCC cut a lot of the best bits out tho. Originally there was a very confronting scene where Maggie has a nervous breakdown and challenges Meredith Baxter from Family Ties to a rigged russian-roullette deathmatch. The scene includes a cameo from ALF as the referee and bookmaker. He looks so adorable in that little tuxedo. Keep an eye on the punters in the background: you might just spot the mysterious old chinese guy from Big Trouble In Little China and Gremlins.  :!:

OK. I wrote off my email to Alan. And it goes a little something like this.

Hello!

My names Shannon and I live in Melbourne Australia. I spent a lot of time watching Growing Pains as a child and since then we havn't seen as much as Alan here as we would like. Is there anything coming up that we might get to see here?

Also Alan, we are having a lot of trouble with terrorism here at the moment. I know that Canada is very politically progressive. Do you have any thoughts on these things? And have you ever considered being a politician?

Thanks for the laughs and many great memories!

Cheers.

Now we play the waiting game.. Ball's in your court Alan.

My brothers big Alan Thicke story is years ago I guess Alan had a cottage just north of here and during the summer on a cheap tuesday night and I guess he brought his kids into town to go to the movies and my brother met him, he still brings it up whenever I tell him about all of the famous people i've met.
