So for the most part my thesis os on the virgin Mary (Anyone who has seen or know of apperitions of her or local 'sacred' sties of her in their communities please tell me!!)
So the point is I came across this link and hay, thought it was interesting and thought I would post it!

It's funny ...

Catholics see Mary in things ... potatos, tortilla chips, clouds, etc., but they never see Elvis.
Baptists see Elvis in places like the bowling alley, Krispy Kreme Doughunts, 7-11, etc., but they never see Mary.

Not every Catholic sees Mary in "clouds, or other crap", it's just nut-jobs that like to believe/see those things. I'm pretty sure there are many other religions out there that have their share of nutjobs as well...But I'm not about to point out what religions they might be, "and what I think they are doing wrong"

It is not so much the fact that she can be 'seen' by people, it is the fact she appears to communities in times of need. The fact of is she is real or not is irrelivant....it is the WHY that I want to focus on. Why does that community need their faith in that point of time, is it a real need or an attempot to bring in tourists. I do have a bunch of questions, if anyone on here would like to fill out if they believe in her, why or why they don't, drop me a line and your name could appear in my book and theisis!
As for me I am an agnostic jew, but I always felt bad for her, in her stories, she has to spend all her time healing the people, taking peoples prayers to a slightly lazy and removed JC, and being a virgin her whole life/existance and I just want to know if all people view here as that or if some groups view her as just a wonderful woman who stood through a lot of crap in her life. it is interesting to note that thre are more first nations and metis people who hold Mary in a higher respect than those of 'western' or european decent.

Poor Mary...Went to a priet's congrats supper friday night, a great guy from africa and I am in love with him, just a fantastic man and he told me this great joke and said I should use it when ever a catholic or non critiques his faith and the Holy Mother:
God is walking around heaven and sees A LOT of people who should not belong, after a while he is shocked that 90% of heaven is populated by people who should NEVER have made it thought the gates. SO off to St. Peter he goes and asks him who is watching the gate, why is he letting everybody in, has he not remembered his teachings, what kind of questions is he asking...why is he not screening people! St. Peter turns to God and says I do follow everything you said, I turned all of those people away! God turns around and says, no you are not doing your job right, a very upset St. Peter turns around and says look, I turn them away its your Mum who keeps sneaking them in through the back door.
Nice little joke (A lof funnier when a little drunk) but it makes sense her role is to make sure all the children of 'God" are seen as equiles regardless of if God likes it or Not. Same Idea for prayer, no she is not a goddess (though she should be a co redemptor) but she is like every mother to her children, the first person you turn too for help and the person you have on your side when confrunting your father (at least its that way in traditionan and Jewish families!) Problem is we dont know Mary as a person, society is forced to get to know her through stories that have changed over the years....

she doesnt have to birth you to be a mother! She has a ROLE like a mother, to guide and help, like our own mothers I hope. The last pope wanted to ordain her as coredemptress along side jc but the 'others' shot it down as being too contraversal. Christian society turns to her for guidence, support like a mother.

First off, stop playing the fucking victim and defend yourself. Stop with the "oh poor me, everyone bashes me, blahblahblah" "How do I defend myself?" You might ask?  Do some reading, researching, so you can defend yourself in these types of arguments. Yeah, I'm gonna bitch on you for making "out-of-your-ass" comments like that because I was raised a Catholic,  and my family is Catholic. So what if Catholics like to pray to Mary, Joseph, John, and whoever else? Before you go nit-picking other people's religions, stop and think about your church...No one there has ever commited a sin before have they? I'm sure committing sins are frowned upon in your religion, that kinda goes against it's teachings.... "He who have not sinned? Cast the first stone"
 I'm not trashing your beliefs whatever that is, I honestly don't care, but my point is all religions have their imperfections, There are a bunch of things I don't agree with in the Catholic religion....and the Protestant, Penticostal, Baptist, Muslim, Jewish..etc, etc, etc.... But I don't go up to a Rabbi on the side of the road and tell him he is a fool for saying prayers on Yom Kippur...
 To conclude my rant, before you get everyone to pack your bags to go on another guilt trip, yeah, people gave you shit about your beliefs, get over it, move on... As I am about to do right now, that I have said all I feel there needs to be said.

A heads up, I am always learning in terms of these faiths, all faiths and it is what I do for university, what I teach and learn about as well as religion and pop culture. I am not and NEVER will be a christian, I am a jew, but do not practice no one in my family has sinse before the war, long line of agnostics, Like it or not, there is no one christian doct. that has the right awnser becauser the fundamentals of the faith vary from FAMILY to FAMILY.
I love Mary because she seemed like a woman who stood her ground, she rode a camel while 8 month pregnants, gave birth in a cave, dealt with a marginalized community, poverty, she had a son who could not keep his mouth shut and she watched him die. I know a lot of people sho cannot deal with just one aspect of that type of life let alone all of it and still maintain your Jewish identity and faith.

Hon I have studied under this countries highest theologians, priests, bishops and rabbi's, I have paid a fortune to do it! I have read the hebrew bible in ancient hebrew and ancient greek, men die if they see god women see him and all is well, though they see a foot or my favorate being gods ass, they still SEE him. Please, read your history and the texts in proper association to the time they were written.
