OMG, Lord Flashheart really is one of Rik Mayall's best character's EVER and such a fun addition to the Blackadder series.

Yep, I remember in one of the very first group chats on MSN, Djet used that hilarious line...WOOF!! I immediatley recognized it as Lord Flashheart. LMAO

Bailey, don't even get me started on the Young Ones. You will find no bigger fan. Check my quote. It's full of Young Ones subtlety.

Sorry, none of this has anything to do with who has the best avatar. Whoopsie!! At the moment, I am all about StonesChimes and the Melchett avatar.

Thanks so much Djet! I found some through Google as well, & I've narrowed it down to about 5 pics to choose from, I'll have to give it some thought.
StoneChimes, that quote from Flashheart is so funny!! All I've got to say is: 'WOOF!'

letsgo2smokes, the avatar looks great!

Nah - no DVD's - I watched the show a lot when I was a kid tho, so the other day I got some of the quotes I liked from the BBC website. 'Goes Forth' and General Melchett is always my favorite but here's my other favorite:

Flashheart - "'If word gets out that I'm missing, 500 girls will kill themselves and I wouldn't want them on my conscience - not when they ought to be on my face!"

One of Rik Mayall's best characters.

Rofl been quoting lord flasheart for years! still do it alot especially to certain lil texan ;)

*Grabs DD , lifts her up and plants a weth one right on her smacker, woof! *

I miss quality comdey from the uk, i love men behaving badly too, and the young ones,
ok def off topic now.

There still are good british new comedy shows : Peep show!, Spaced, Im Allan Partridge, The Office, Ali G, World Shut your mouth, Little Britain, The Boosh, people like us, extras... and im sure im forgetting alot of good ones..

I know these are older shows but The League of Gentleman can be hilarious too. Stella Street is another one of my personal favourites, especially the David Bowie character. I'm including a pic of Mick and Keith arguing out in front of their store. Anyone who has never really gotten into Alan Partridge has a lot of good laughs to look forward to. Try to watch the series in order if you can, starting with the BBC Radio series and then the TV series. Steve Coogan has a live tape that I watched when I was living with a Mancunian chick, some of his other characters are 'piss-yourself' funny: like Portuguese Singing Sensation.... Tony Farino!!! Here's an excerpt from his song 'Lap Dancin' Lady' (from memory):

Walked into a bar, I was lonely and lost... when I saw her there
Lap dancin' Lady, with the sensuous eyes... and de flowing hair
She said: "Good evening, Sir"
Something, began to stir
All at once, quick as a flash
From my pants I pulled out the cash
So that she!!
Would lapdance for MEEEEEEEE!!!

And I said: Lap Dancin' Lady!
You drive me crazy, please...
Lap Dancin' Lady, I like you very much...
But the sign said: LOOK BUT DON'T TOUCH

Thanks so much Djet! I found some through Google as well, & I've narrowed it down to about 5 pics to choose from, I'll have to give it some thought.

Thankyou - I'll keep it a while longer then. Although I was thinking last nite that a Ripping Yarns avatar would be also very cool. Any other fans? I havn't seen it for years, but I remember theTomkinson's Schooldays episode fairly clearly. I know this quote is wrong but when the Michael Palin, Tompkinson character escapes the school, the first-person narrator says: "10 miles outside the school, I was taken by the School Leopard". I included a pic of the principal and vice principal. My other favorite episodes were "Escape from Stalag 13" and "The Claw".

MElba queen of disco the avatar looks great on you and suits your nick very much!

and for mr Stonechimes, you sure seem to have a good knowledge on all things comedy , i used to think i knew heaps of it and couldnt be amazed by very fast by someone else his knowlidge about the subject(sry if this seems stuck up , it just felth that way). That was until i meth Dirty Dancin Jena and now you seem to know more about british comedy then me too :)

Unfortunatly i only know league of gentleman of all those other series you mentoined, geuss i need to catch up and check some more old school british comedys.

Dam i really watched too much american comedy these last years time to go back to my comedy roots and check some more of the british series ive seem to have missed. First the comic strip :( (only saw one before! )! finishing the last two discs of the 9disc box atm :)

And i surely need to see to see that show fearutring Micheal Palin! Loooove his travel series only have one left to see in my box. Ofc love his older stuff too! :)

Yes, gooood i loved the allan partridge show, just rewatching knowing me knowing you recently, the first series, Ahaaaa, but i must say i like im allan partrige just a bit more. Didnt coogan do several caracter based live comedy shows? i thought i saw at least 2 of em. Also good stuff indeed. And the mofo is big in hollywood now hes getting joboffers all over the place (doing a remake of an old roger moore playa movie together with ben stiller whos a big fan of alan partridge)

Sry for going of topic, maybe we should make a british comedy or just comedy series treath?

We already have for comedy, there is plenty British comedy mentioned outside the poll.

http://www.trailerparkboys.org/forums/index.php?topic=1966.0  (I even mentioned Ripping Yarns)

We even have a whole thread for Monty Python, the best British comedy of alltime.

How would you like to find that in your box of nuggets? I think that came out of California and yes it is a deep fried chickenhead. Some woman got it as a "prize" in her happy meal  :o

Thanks D3K. I started out when I was about 6 trying to memorise Bill Cosby and Bob Newhart bits off by heart while I was going to sleep. I still find some of those old set's hilarious. And now I'll stop dragging this thread off topic. I swear to gad.
