Resize your own images - EASY!
« on: Sep 16, 2005, 03:03 PM »
If you need a tool to easily, and quickly resize images by simply right clicking - look no further!

Microsoft has provided a "PowerToy" that does just that. (for Win XP only - sorry) - ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed, all you have to do is right click your image(s), and choose Resize Pictures - it will present you with a few common dimensions, as well as giving you the option to resize to Custom height & width by clicking the Advanced >> button (you can resize your pics for forum avatars if you choose 100x100).

Hope this helps a few out there :)

Cheers!

Only works for Windows XP ... :(

Also I should mention a less accurate option you can use.  The paint program that comes with windows has a tool to "stretch-skew" which shrinks it.  If you overshrink it you can undo.

Hey, I've been trying to run this thing, and all that comes up is some error box, and it says something like "this is not a valid Win 32 application..." WTF? This has come up a few times before with other things. I run Windows XP, so I'm a little confused...
Yeah, whatever.....

the problem with the MS one is if u resize JPEG's it uses shitty level of compression IMO

u can download Irfanview instead, which is free

http://www.irfanview.com/

apart from that toy thou, i love tweakUI and Powertoys...

does this mean resizing, like 100 by 100, or 600 by 200?

can it also resize the file size? like from 675kb to 128kb
My picture is a pumpkin of Bubbles i carved last halloween, in case you're wondering "wtf is that"

Just open the picture with PAINT and go to IMAGE - SKETCH/SKEW and change it to 70% 70% and see if its small enuff.  If that isnt quite small enuff do the same thing again.

I use Fast Stone for my images and it's free too ...... been using it ever since it came out pretty much and it can resize them in batches, water mark, take screen shots, crop, red eye removal, create slideshows and all kinds of cool stuff and it's better than infranview (used to use that too) http://www.faststone.org (it's first product on the top of the page).

I have been trying for a day now to post some pictures that I took.  I thought that I saw somewhere on the board that there was no need anymore, (since the board changed servers), to re-size your photos, that they automatically adjust. Could find this in search.I tried posting two-three pictures, and I keep getting the error message "Your file is too large.  The max. attachment allowed is 300KB"   I am getting frustrated, what am I doing wrong?

Highlight the picture, then right click, then click on the option "Resize Pictures", then you click on "Advanced", then select "Make pictures smaller not larger", then select O.K., that makes your pic the right size to be used on this board.

ill up the limit to 1mb/attachment since we've got plenty of space on the server now.

Thank you GD and CD.  But now I get the message:
"Sorry! There is already an attachment with the same filename as the one you tried to upload. Please rename the file and try again."
:madcomputer:  I've renamed them twice already.
Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just me?
