...badly!

The trailer park boys must love their jobs, making each other laugh all day and lahey practising getting drunk.  What a life!

I hate my job, I take phone calls from people who are supposed to complain but get really abusive and personal.

Who else hates their job and what do you do?  Who would cut off their right arm and chuck it away to get the chance to work at a job they loved too?

Crime is looking attractive.....

Yeah people who like what they do are extremely lucky.  I don't hate my job, but there are things I would rather be doing with my life, bascially I'm still hoping I win the lottery.

I grew to really hate my job at the grocery store. The people I worked with were nice & the actual job was easy, but dealing with the public was not!! People who had no one else to argue with always wanted to argue with the cashier (it didn't really matter about what). I worked at a discount store, so our prices weren't too bad to begin with, but when we had a really good sale, say on toilet paper, people went mental! If we had to put a limit on something, like 2 packages of 30 rolls of toilet paper, people would pick up 6 & argue with you until you had to call the manager! I mean did they really need that much toilet paper all at once!?! Our sales generally lasted 2 weeks, so they could come back every day & pick up more, but it always had to be all at once! Another thing that super pissed me off was when the manager would come along & let the friggin customer do whatever they wanted, making us cashiers look stupid! Anyway, I quit that job last October after getting hired at the steel factory (where I make more than 2x what I did there & I don't have to deal with the public). The bookstore where I continue to work is a much nicer retail environment, it's not nearly as stressful as the grocery store.

Strangely, I have recently been conscripted as a digital cartographer (mapmaker) for an online travel service in Britain.  The damndest things happen to me.  Once I've figured out the new programs I'll report back as to whether I hate it or not...

The seamstressing is finally paying a bit.  That's because my sister keeps buying the dresses!    I love doing that but it hurts to do sometimes unless I wear a back brace (you have no idea how much crawling all over the floor with scissors that means until you've done it)...  So who has a physically painful or dangerous job?  -Curious.

Building is both dangerous and sometimes painfull :-)
But i like it !
For now ......

If you don't like your job, there is always the option to change it, you can go do some part time course in an area that does interest you and try to get work in that area.
I know it's easier said than done , but it can be done.

I did work in the retail trade many years ago, some people can be a total pain in the ass for sure, i am so glad to be out of that .

Good luck :-)
Don't matter how little you know, someone out there know's even less !

There are some days I hate my job even though I really shouldn't. I mean, I seem to always end up with plenty of time to browse and post on the ORG so how bad can it be!?

RangerF150 is right...even though you might feel stuck in your current job because of debt or whatever your particular situation is (it's different for everybody,) sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and try something new. For example, my husband recently switched from a stable job to a potentially not so stable one because he hated what he was doing. This new position is much more along the lines of what he'd like to do for a living. We may be poor for quite a while! It's kind of scary. But, I'd rather he be happy in his career than rich. The stress of his other job was beginning to take a toll on his health and we're both way too young to have to deal with that kind of crap.

Anyway, just my 2 cents. Regardless of what you decide to do, you can always come here and rant!!!!  :D

I like parts of my job. It was all sign writing a mere 10 years ago &  just when I became really confident they perfected vinyl's & software programs to replace the art of sign painting. All my buddies were sign writers & most also heavy partiers, which seemed to go hand in hand.

Some of the perks running a home based business make it worthwhile, like being able to be with my daughter as apposed to giving her up to a day care, jail has better food & recreation. Also I can pick up the dry cleaning or meet a friend for an extended lunch or stay at home for some afternoon delite or fill up at the pumps at my leisure for the lowest prices without a lineup. Coming back from the great white north on the next day when traffic is tolerable. And last but not least the $$$ able to buy my ego what it needs. What a country, you can really make it if you try.

I am a stay at home mom who works at Ikea p/t to help pay the bills, so I can't really complain. (Well, I can because the customers there can be horrid, but the pay is great and they work around my schedule, so I guess I shouldn't) I have had MANY worse jobs, so this one doesn't seem bad.  :P I get to spend my days at the zoo and the park, so it makes up for it.

I can releate to everything that has been said. I am in between jobs myself and am looking to do something productive with the second half of my life. I am only 44 years old but sometimes I feel like I have hit a rut. Yes it is a bit scary there Dirty Dancin' but I am sure all of us will find sucess down the road.  :)  So hang in there kitty meiowenstein, Dirty Dancin' and all of the others. hi everyone

thanks for the supportive comments and how right you all are!

I just got the greatest news that I have been accepted onto a course I wanted to become a psychologist which is a dream come true for me.

I'm so happy so my advice is never ever settle for a rotten job, it is true, if you try hard enough, I believe you can make your dream come true.

I'm hungover as heck cos I only found out and I'm in work now but I couldn't give a monkeys how rotten it is today, I'll still be smiling!

I got drunk as feck! lol

hey

everyone mentions mind tricks when I mention psychology.  I wish I could play mind tricks, I'd be rich by now lol.

Alas, psychology is not magic but close to philososphy cos it works on theory.  blah blah listen to me

I've got a mega hangover after celebrating the news.

28 is not too late to study again, the majority of people on my course are late twenties and I'm 32 :)

Todays word is:
Sacrifice...#  Forfeiture of something highly valued for the sake of one considered to have a greater value or claim.

Tipsy, if you can do without for 3-4 years what's the payoff? People aren't retiring at 65 anymore, we live longer & the expenses continue to grow. Can you swing it part time? I did some p/t sign writing at George Brown the rest is history. BTW I also scored in class!

I was 28 when i wen't to college part-time , four long years, three night's and one full day a week.
About the hardest thing i ever did, was it worth it ? Think so !

The move i wanted to make never happened, so to an extent it was a waste, however education is never wasted, i am now many year's later starting to benefit from it .

Really you should try it and see how you make out after a year or so, you can undo a mistake , butter to try and quit than do nothing !

Good luck :-)

I don't hate my job, but it can be very stressful.  I am a cashier at a wholesale membership club, and have been there going on 14 years.  The pay is very good, and if I quit that job to get an office job, I wouldn't make as much money.  Most of the customers are nice, but once in a while I get a very rude one.  Last week I had one difficult customer.  I made a mistake with his change  and he demanded to see the manager right away!  It was explained to him that nothing could be done until the next day after the register was counted.  After arguing with the manager for awhile, he left, but not before stopping at my till and shouting  "Thanks for fucking up".  I said nothing, but a supervisor standing beside me took offense to the way he spoke to me chased after him.  I had to feave the till for a few minutes to pull myself together.  Anyway the manager spoke with him later and told him it was unacceptable in the way he spoke to his cashier.
