Those Smart cars are really neat looking, I have no idea how much they cost (I'm not really keen on leasing), but I'm assuming they are waaayyy out of my price range (I'm very 'frugal'). Maybe some time in the future when I have more money to spare on a car, then I'd think about it.

By the way BB, I checked out the site you suggested earlier & there was an article about Accents that just re-affirmed what I think about those cars.

Thanks RNC! It's nice to hear from you, you should drop by more often. I'm really leaning towards the Accent again (Korean made), because I believe my car was the coolest car ever (the only thing I wasn't too sure about were the white rims), & it run so well. It's too bad that North American cars are not up to the standards of Japanese cars. I would be willing to pay a little bit more for a car if I knew it was going to last for a very long time (probably most people would), so I don't understand why the philosophy of the US car makers would choose to focus on fixing the cars rather than making them strong & sturdy the first time 'round. I 'm not saying I would never buy a North American car, but I think now that I have this knowledge, I would definietly think pretty hard about it.

Anyway, today I'm going to work at the bookstore so I'm going to check out the Lemon-Aid guide for used cars that we sell.

A while back I was watching a documentary about the different philosophies the U.S. and Japan have regarding their respective products manufactured. In the early years the U.S. focused on excellent servicing. On the other hand, the Japanese focused on making excellent products that required little or no servicing - two different paths indeed.

I think I saw that same program.  North American auto makers are capitalist in values.  The buck doesn't stop at the dealership and they forecast that for earnings.  Financially smart, but screws everyone in the end.

Finally!! I got a car! I stuck with the Accent. I'm so boring! I find something I like & totally stick with it. Thanks for all the advice though. If I had had more money to spend on a car I would have looked more seriously at Toyota Echos (they were pricier than I thought). And although I saw some really good looking Cavaliers & Sunfires, I thought about what was said about GM products.

Buy a Tracker....good on gas, good looking, sporty, and built right here in Ingersoll, Ontario.

Now new or used...that's up to you.   I have one with a soft top, so it's awesome in the summer with the top down...it's also a 4X4 so you can laugh in the face of our Canadian winters.

...eh Ben, that night at the Bloor Cinema ?    It was a blizzard and driving home from T.O. I felt nice and safe driving it almost 4 hours through the deep thick driving snow down the 401.

Just a thought.

Good luck car hunting.....oh, one more thing.....when you buy a used car, look at the hucaps or rims....if they have scratches in them, you car bet it was lady driven from hitting the curbs while parallel parking. :P

Hear ye, hear ye, all ye who are mechanically inclined! I need some car advice. I drive a '99  Oldsmobile Intrigue; power windows naturally. A while ago I noticed most of my windows were functioning intermittently. I tried to track a pattern of when they would work and when they wouldn't. It seems that when the weather is really hot they don't work, but when things cool down they do (and even this isn't very consistent). Can the heat be somehow loosening an electrical connection or something? I know this will probably cost a ridiculous amount to diagnose by a "professional." I'm just wondering if anyone here has any ideas. Thanks. Thank God for the A/C!

likely a bad ground.  Try and find (in a manual) where the ground for the windows are.  then it's just a sand and a screw away from fixed.  But I could be wrong.
