Not interested in posting ID's, unless you're okay with naming yourself

Just wondering what other forums aside from the ORG ... that ORG members post on?

I sometimes post on CTS in eBay.ca, and once in a blue moon I'll hang on my old haunt on eBay.com, The Auction Listings Discussion Board.

thetrailerpark.net

It's very slow and mostly american ,but there are some cool folks there and it's gaining popularity. It's exciting when 3 people are online! ,but most members post every day.

I visit a few other music/dj'ing related forums - www.tribe.ca & www.djforums.com - and occasionally peek at www.torontoraves.com to check the upcoming events/reviews section.

Not too much else though, not with any regularity anyways.

Main hangout is www.astalavista.net , it's a computer security site, you gotta pay to play :-)

Also i do mod on a new site http://forums.hackerheaven.com/ , it's only just opened , it's free to join and if you have any security questions , or just want to know how to secure your computer then you could do worse than go there .
<end of sales pitch> :-)
Don't matter how little you know, someone out there know's even less !

This is the only forum I post in. I used to post on The Trek BBS (you guessed it, Star Trek) and my screen name was WarpFactor9. I haven't posted anything there in over 2 years. There are two reasons why:

(1) I enjoy watching Star Trek but I'm not as hardcore as some of the other members in the forum. Some people took it so seriously and had arguments over everything, down to the tiniest detail. It got nasty sometimes. The moderators were a bit more lenient. I found it annoying.

(2) There are literally thousands of members so it didn't feel like an online community. Here at the ORG there are officially close to 500 members, but only about 40 to 50 people post regularly. We're still able to have meaningful discussions and we "know" each other.
Cheers to our ORG.

i post at two other sites, one is a silent hill forum called neoseeker, but only in the games forums cause the rest are cluttered up by people ALOT younger than me.

Another is called XGP gaming,it's a great place for gamers of all ages.it has alot of different stuff like reviews, contests and forums,(i'm a mod there).

and here, of course, not so much yet ,i have to "feel" you guys out and get more comfy.
We are all faced with a series of great oppertunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations.

I used to also chat in a geocities forum years ago.  I can't remember what the main attraction was, other than it being "new" to me at the time.  I left for personal reasons...okay, someone was hitting on me, then even ID'd where I was and my IP address.  I think they got that info when we'd PM each other, it was through pop-up "private" windows, a precursor to the instant messenging services like ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, and AOL.

Nice site Smokey - could i ask you a pond question here? I used several types of heaters to keep a bit of the ice open for ventilation during the winter, but all heaters, even agricultural ones, have failed after a season or two. Do you know anything about pond heaters? could you recommend a product or site?
Thanks
 :D ! Cheers!

bb, what kind of fish do you have in the pond ? depending on what you have, you wouldn't need a heater. But that  also depends on how deep your pond is. Usually most pond fish ( Goldfish, Koi ) go into a 'hibernation' so to speak once the water falls below 10 degrees Celcius. If the pond is deep enough ( 2- 3 feet ) koi and goldfish can survive the wintertime. I know what the winter weather tends to be like in Toronto since I only live 45 minutes away in Hamilton.

thanks smokey - i have koi and goldfish, my pond is about 3 1/2 feet deep by 9 feet long and 5 feet wide - the problem is that if i don't vent the pond when its frozen , the debris on th bottom builds up enough gas to kill fish - i just need a more reliable surface heater to keep things open. Any thoughts? Thanks :D !

Well, I did it, I registered on the .net and BBCAmerica.  Dropped out of the BBCAmerica pretty quickly, though...both because I'm sure it'll die out with them not airing TPB anymore (I wonder if HBO will pick it up?) and it's a little...lame.

.net isn't bad, I recognize a few faces over there.  Does anyone know where the .net site is located?  Cnada or the US?

Wherever, it doesn't really matter to me, I still think the ORG rules! :D

With the amount of time I spend here at the ORG it's probably not the wisest idea for me to post elsewhere as well. Then I'd never get anything done.
