What about Melfy's rape? That plot could always be brought back.

It could. I forget, did the rapist end up in jail. I love how Dr. Melfy contemplated telling Tony. Tony would have cut the guy's nuts off and fed them to him...personally.   But considering this will be the last season I think we've seen the last of that sub-plot.

He didn't go to jail. For some reason he got off with no charges. But Melfy found out where he worked. Yeah, that was a fucked up episode when she contemplated telling Tony at the end, in tears, then when he asked if there was something she needed to tell him... "No." End of episode. End of plot.  :x

I just noticed that The Newsroom starts a new season tonight, that show was good, hopefully will be again.

2 episodes into the new season and I have to say I very impressed, it seems to be as good as it was when it first came out, great show.  CBC Monday nights.

YAY Carolyn was back in action. I liked last night's Apprentice, but man they're a dumb lot.

Have any of you ever heard of or seen The Office? It's a BBC docu-comedy. Here's the official site:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/theoffice/ *SOME SPOILERS*

Only 2 seasons (12 thirty-minute episodes) were made. The show is hilarious! I watched both seasons this weekend on DVD. The show is set in a generic office and follows the working lives of the employees. Since its a British show much of the slang and dialogue they use is unfamiliar. Luckily the first season comes with a dictionary which translates them so us "Yanks" can understand what they mean. You get used to it though. If at all possible I recommend giving this show a chance. Off you go, blokes.

A fellow fan. Ah, purple_squirrel, you never let me down. David Brent is so frustrating to watch. I guess that's his charm. Did you watch the Christmas special (a 2 hour two-parter). It ties up some loose ends. I love how it ends.

Darn it - no!  I missed that one :x

I'm sure I'll see it sometime.  I only managed to catch the odd episode now and again, my fiance couldn't quite get into it, and we only have "one" TV...and the remote only works with his fingers, or so he says

I saw a couple episodes of The Office when Showcase put a few on, I didn't really find it that funny but I didn't give it a chance.

BBC Canada airs them, too, if you get that channel :)

Anyone here watch American Chopper on the Discovery Channel.

Now this is reality TV I can watch. No tribal counsels, no having to eat a bucket of worms while swinging upside down under a flying helicopter, and certainly no trying to find your true love. Just cutting, welding and grinding...with the occasional argument. The bikes these guys fabricate are just incredible! Check these out:

How did everyone who watches Apprentice like it on Thursday? I'm really glad Trump fired the asshole. What an idiot John was.

I just watched a few seconds of the new American version of The Office. It really doesn't work for me. First of all the script is identical to the BBC version, and second, no one can top Ricky Gervais performance. Has anyone else seen it?

I didn't even know it existed. Sounds lame though.

Furthermore, why doesn't the broadcast company just buy the BBC version if they want to air it? If I was an executive at that company I wouldn't go near an American version of The Office.

It seems like America frequently does remakes of British gems. Does Britain have an English version of The Simpsons? Seinfeld?

Yeah I couldn't sit through it.  I repeat though that the BBC's The Office isn't as good as the first and last season of CBC's The Newsroom.

I saw it...I laughed, it was like watching the BBC version, only without the accents.  The same delivery was there, it was almost weird.

But I liked it.  Can't say I'll watch the whole series, but I will say I wouldn't be surprised if it gets cancelled.  Seems only the truly "Americanized" versions on any Brit shows make it on North American television (Three's Company, All in the Family, American Idol, Queer as Folk to name a few).  The NBC version is not a typical Americanization.
