Black Jesus
« on: Aug 08, 2014, 06:04 PM »
Did anyone else catch Black Jesus on Adult Swim last night? If not catch it here: http://video.adultswim.com/black-jesus/

Looks like Mike Clattenburg has another cult hit on his hands. His influence is scattered all through the show from big ass Chryslers to piss jugs.

I'm interested in any comments.

Thanks for the link, good stuff!  Yeah I hear the show is getting a lot of good reviews.  I also caught the guy using the line Ricky used in TPB 1 about him being on probation :)

'Black Jesus' draws sky-high TV ratings despite controversy, boycotts

Puts me in mind of the fuss made when Python came out with Life of Brian.

I liked it.  I hope the genius of Clattenburg is not lost on TPB.  But if you're a realist something will be missing.  I just hope the S8 and S9 product is good enough.  I really want the boys to succeed for their benefit and ours.
Ho Ho's and Ding Dongs are not the same thing!

To be honest,  the era of this kind of humor finished 20 years ago. Of course there are new themes to make jokes about, but the form is obsolete.  Clattenburg's "Trailer park boys: don't legalize it" ( http://viooz.one/2216-trailer-park-boys-dont-legalize-it-2014.html ) is a bit better  :D
