No more TPB for Netflix?
« on: Feb 23, 2013, 06:13 PM »
Trailer Park Boys in Lego (?) is posting on Facebook that Netflix will no longer be streaming TPB after March 1.  Netflix is how I was introduced to the boys, and it's probably the highest-fidelity source of the show out there currently.  Anyone know what the deal is here?  My guess is that Clatty and the gang are going to be syndicating TPB exclusively on swearnet.com, along with this new season everyone's suddenly talking about.  That would certainly be a savvy business move and would bring tons of viewers to swearnet.  But so could broader syndication of their beloved show.  Maybe Netflix couldn't afford to renegotiate their contract and they're shopping it to higher bidders.  Anyone got the true gen?  Fishy?

Not sure about all of that.  Netflix seems to just let certain television shows to run their course.  I stopped my membership there a month or two ago but I did notice shows there would come and go. I never watched Trailer Park Boys there because I have all of the DVD's same with Mystery Science Theater 3000.  On a MST3K board that I belong to whenever a episode has been pulled there is all kinds of speculation as to why and what does this mean but the question to my knowledge has never been answered.  I belonged to watch The Rockford Files and the Twilight Zone but I got caught up with all of that and I have the entire series of Magnum P.I. so I decided to quit. They say that they will hold my bookmarks etc. for one year so I will probably go back.

I have also noticed they remove shows now and again. Always figured it was shows that didn't get enough views to keep streaming them, but it sounds like a lot of people wath tpb on there. I own all of the dvd's so I have never really bothered. I'm surprised you cancelled your subscription David. My wife and I love netflix! We did however switch over to the American version which has a heck of a lot more selection than the Canadian version.

Netflix is in trouble again. Starz is going to be limiting access to their original programming on Netflix and other pay networks have or are following suit. I think, like it was previously stated, that Netflix takes shows and movies down after awhile.

Like Tiggy said, there is always the DVDs.  8) The legal kind too,  not those greasy ones Trevor and Cory sell in their convenience store.

Fletcher, you obviously know little about stocks. Netflix has gone up significantly this month, and has been a solid investment this year. Maybe you could spend more time watching the economy and proper money managing, and then you could get out of that asylum (couldn't help it, you still have those videos on your page...they're not helping your strife) where you filmed, so that you won't have to worry about "saving pennies." If you would have invested your pennies this year in Netflix you'd almost have double by now. Netflix had their reasons or were given unreasonable demands, but it wasn't because they couldn't afford TPB.

Yet, you very well could be right about swear.net only showing TPB episodes to bring viewers and most likely subscribing members.

Hey guys. I think why netflix keeps putting an expiration date on it is due to probably old contract rules for rights distribution. Has anyone ever watched early in the morning (5-6 Am) the old A&E classroom. They state that right at the beginning of each session that people are allowed to copy the episode for teaching purposes but they must on a certain date destroy the recording. I think that is what is happening with netflix.

There goes my reason for having Netflix.

I wouldn't panic yet...same thing happened on March 1st.
Their contract with Netflix is 3 months at a time..it was back on March 2nd.
If it isn't back tomorrow - then start worrying.
