TPB location video #5
« on: Jul 09, 2012, 02:33 PM »
Last month I went on vacation to the maritimes with my girlfriend. We went from Ottawa > PEI > Port Hawkesbury > Cape Breton > Halifax > Ottawa. 4500km it was a great trip, a lot of fun indeed. Stopped in Halifax for a couple of days. Hung out with Fishy from the forum, got to shoot the shit about tpb. He gave me a really cool mini tour of halifax and a little history. On the side I shot another TPB filming location video because the previous vids I did were quite popular and people have been bugging me to make another.

I feel so TPB nerd learnt now. Thanks for making me feel like it's okay to want to find all those mundane places...just cause they were in TPB.

Thank you for making the whole series. I hadn't seen this post before today. But I recently found your whole series via YouTube creeping and shared them with my fan page #RobbWellsFuckedFamily . That was fun having a look at old TPB hot spots. You did a nice job hosting by the way.

Could have swore I posted here yesterday.  Very interesting, and fun to see these locations after the show has ended.  Darry, you did a lot of work running around, and it's great to view so many of the shoot sites, thanks.  8)    :beermug: :6paper:

It is interesting you can find the obscure sites such as "Phil's motel".  how do you do that?  Is there history of the productions you access?  What is your secret?

Thanks for the comments guy im glad you enjoyed the vids they took literly years of work.

How I find Phil's motel? Last year I hung out with him so I asked him where it was. Actually not too far away from where he actually lives.

How i found all the locations? Many ways. I guess doing this made me one hell of a investigator because you have to get pretty creative to find these places. Most the places I found through common sense though. EG they go to a hospital so I searched hospitals and there are only so many. Street view does the work for you. For harder places I look at landmarks in thebackground (Ie other stores even if blured out you know what they are ususally). Mostly everythign is in dartmouth so its not hard to find. Infact when I was down there I found some by accident just driving by. Tons of locations are on portland & windmill rd. Some of the places people told me the locations (but only a few). Then a couple hard ones that I found through crafty means but really all this work was done while I was bored in my previous job. I used to work at a private gym and no members would come in from 7-10 so I just watched tpb and found locations, planned trips etc.

I still have a couple I didnt film but I wouldnt make any more videos because 5 is enough haha. Plus I dont life in halifax.

It was. Im a big fan of not just Halifax but the martimes in general so the trip was great. As much as I hate quebec in drummondville there is a popular gas station called the Madrid. And the first time I went I shot a parody ripp of tpb thing and that was the first stop. I thought it looked hilarious so we did some shooting. Last year they tore it down after being open for nearly 50 years. They turned it into a power centre as well. It was very sad to see but at least I got it on video before it went down.

Awesome job, obviously a shitlabor of love.  I've only been to Canada once, to Toronto in 2002 to see Yes.  Stayed two days, loved Canada, had weed in the car going both ways over the border.  I didn't know of TPB at the time, so if I had been busted I wouldn't have lernt from Ricky how to handle cops.  If I ever make it back I'm going to Nova Scotia to get a feel for where the series was shot, it sure looks beautiful.  I live in central Ohio, and love it when a Canadian cold front comes down during a hot summer.

These are great vids -- I can't believe somebody isn't doing a TPB bus tour or something along those lines.
