What are the possibilities of a "next gen" Trailer Park Boys to be filmed in 2012? I talked to Robb (Ricky) on Twitter, and he said "if" there is a chance, it will be filmed early 2012. anyone have any ideas on this?

There's always a possibility but it takes a lot more than fan wishes to make shit happen. I would love to see more TPB.

I reckon there's as much chance of a S8 as my unicorn laying a golden egg (unless another Canadian channel picks it up). A movie is more of a possibility, and I've heard talk on all sides about happening (ior not). We'll see.

how much would the chances change if someone were to write a full script and hand full ownership over to them? as well, I am sure that after all their extreme fan gathering, they could set up an online fund raiser, and they would be pleasantly surprised! and after speaking with a bunch of people at a film show a few weeks back, alot of people were mentioning the fact that the show was a perfect style, appealing to alot of people, and would make a huge comeback, if ever this happened.. All we can do is hope tho!

A movie is the only logical thought. Next in line would be a TV special but on what network.

That's true, but let's just say that a canadian tv channel did want to pick them up, would that make any difference? like, I pretty much know that showcase wouldn't do it, and action would be in the same boat, but what about comedy, or MTV or something?

The newest owner of Showcase, in so many words, is unimpressed with TPB's profanity, and general lifestyles portrayal, and is mandating that the cable franchise can do 'better' content wise.

Who owns the rights to "The Trailer Park Boys"? Is it Clattenberg or Dunn & Volpe etc, the boys themselves or a combination of the above.

I'm sure we have discussed this in the past but fuck its been awhile since the show closed down and my rememberins aint what they used to be. My brain compartments are either all full or all empty, can't really tell .

Obviously the "owner" isn't a total heel. The boys can still perform on stage in character. But it likely goes deeper than just the Robb, JP and Mike.

Mike mentioned to me when I talked to his after ther show in Brantford last year about a possible 3rd movie and an animated series. Apparantlly a lot of the props and vehicles are all in storage still.

The shitmobile is in storage in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. Thats the only set piece anyhow...Im not sure the state of the trailer park used while filming the latter seasons. I wouldnt count on ever seeing an "8th season" or a tv special thanks to the powers that be at showcase right now...but management can change and its possible another tv special could be made. Frankly, I would be happy with a film every 2 or 3 years. A cartoon would be funny as a special too...should be back to back with south park, lol. I can imagine atleast ONE MORE movie happening. John Dunsworth is 65, lord knows when he'll retire or be enough of a spring chicken to play a physical drunk...I say there is a 7-10 year window for movies and then maybe a cartoon might surface when Clattenburg realizes what he walked away from we may see more.

FYI to shitwizard. The Sunnyvale trailer park created for seasons 5-7 has been removed from the site it was on. Open field pretty much now. Some one posted pics, or a link to recent pics, I forget which.

I can't speak for Clattenburg, so my own opinion is that the 7 year show had reached it's zenith, as a cable TV series. Stopping it when they did ensured it wasn't going to get old, and dulled by regurgitating familiar 'schtick' past the freshness date[so to speak].

More movie(s) I think can, and should happen, which could easily spur a TV special using sets, and props developed for said 3rd movie.
Now that a much greater US audience is present, the idea is easily worth the effort, as long as Clatty is at the helm. He's the true 'Capn' of the shitliner', and I can't imagine it without him producing/directing.

Worst case ontario? Waiting too long, and either prime actors aren't able, or the majority of fans have just moved on, and interest wanes.

I think you are are right there cinthb. What would TPB be if Mr. Dunsworth could no longer contribute? Lucy is in the Canadian Forces now I believe. So in the near term it's just not possible.

Plus I've thought, as you mentioned, with the spreading of the TPB's in the U.S. it being fucked up by a U.S. investor taking to much creative control with new characters or just thinking they know what would "sell".

Any broadcast in the U.S. would have to be on a few select cable/SAT channels to allow for the boys profane use of the English language. Couldn't happen on a lot of the U.S. market.

I hate the idea of a cartoon. Why a cartoon? They are wanting to do something with a shoestring budget? Face it, it is cheaper. If it's on a broadcast channel that won't allow the usual language you face a problem there as well. Think about it. Like Ricky said in court, if he can't swear "he's fucked".

Funny thing is the more I think about it the more I place restrictions on its growth beyond ShowCase and the Canadian market should it be resurected. Could it ever be brought back as good? I'd like to think so but what has?

Shitwizard, how do you know that only the shitmobile is left? Mike personally told me the producers are keeping a lot of the props in storage incase of any future plans. Both the shitmobile and lahey's car wer in pretty rough shape at the end of it all though!

One thing I would not like to see is any further "input" from Hollywood/US networks - we know what happened last time (Big Dirty, which could have been so much better). I'm in two minds about a cartoon - it sounds fun, but they tried something similar with Bob & Doug, and I don't think it did very well. And which network is going to show it? Not Showcase.

Fuck the TV networks, movies, DVDs and online content is the way to go. But financing projects is another matter...
