London/UK Riots

A lot of our fellow ORGsters are in the UK... hope you guys stay safe. It's terrible to see cities being trashed by a bunch of dumb fucks (the Vancouver riots were painful enough). What's going on where you are?

I've seen the spread of the riots and wish it would just stop. It's enough to smash windows and steal while setting cop cars on fire but setting fires to sections of your own city is pointless, wreckless and wrong.

It is very subdued here in Brighton thank god but it's a pretty peaceful city (holding the only Green party seat in the country). Of course, there are lots of rumours going around about riots here this evening. Police vans all over the place and some bars are not opening tonight.

My family live in South London where I grew up but luckily not where the rioting has been taking place. I do have friends who have been badly affected by this though, one can't go home because of a fire started in a shop below her.

I am saddened and more angry by the actions of these mindless fucks. I know that poverty and a lack of education has a lot to blame for it but some of this is just mob mentality and people are joining in for the fun of it. I have been so riled about this all day, it's nice to know you guys are thinking of us here :)

Anyway I'm moving to Canada next year so fuck it!!

It's totally fucked up. I live 300 miles away from London, but it makes me feel physically sick. And I'm REALLY FUCKING SICK of the phrase "Disenfranchised youth" being bandied about. These fuckers are a bunch of chancers on the rob.

It ANGERS me.

This tweet sums it up: "Only in London do you find yoofs in £100 trainers organising riots on £300 smartphones to complain about 'povertee innit' "

I lived in Bournemouth, just around the Isle of Wight, and hope it doesn't spread there.

Exactly.
Some of these kids don't realise how privileged they are to live in this country. I mean, the majority of this has been happening in the more deprived areas but they still have no real reason to riot.

I hope it doesn't spread into central London, it will be heaving with tourists this time of year.

And if anyone even thinks of damaging my beloved De Hems pub in Chinatown, I will personally fly over and fire rubber bullets up their arse.

That can't happen in the Southern United States about 95% are armed and willing to use it.  I could take out several hundred with what I have alone.
