Here's the place to discuss your thoughts on the 2010 Olympics.
With the exception of the lip sync incident with Bryan Adams and the problem with the indoor cauldron, the opening ceremonies were pretty good. I really liked the killer whale effect and the mountain effect the best.
What a terrible accident for the Georgian luger. I've seen the video and just stared with disbelief. Very sad.

I know  :ricky: :julian: :bubs: had something to do with the malfunctioning cauldron

It has come to my attention that Ricky, Bubbles and Julian were among the 30 athletes who failed the Olympic drug testing.  Ricky was to captain the hash hockey team and Bubs was to demonstrate the shopping cart as a bobsled.  Jim Lahey is very upset because Sexy Julian is unable to compete in the luge. Apparently, Jim is a big fan of the body suits that lugers wear.

I can't wait to get out and take in some of the attractions. I won't be going to see any of the sporting events, but I want to see pavilions and some of the free concerts. Next week-end will be better for me, as this week-end will be nuts!
In regards to the opening ceremony, I really enjoyed watching it. I did like seeing Brian Adams, have always liked him, but it was unfortunate about the lip syncing incident. KD Lang was AMAZING! What a beautiful song! Great seeing a lot of Canadian legends. And the Great one in our city! My son was saying what a trip it would be to be running down the street with him.

The opening ceremony was pretty interesting, especially the 'whales' bit.  It's amazing what you can do with a projector and a few dust sheets!   ;)

Now I'm just waiting for the hockey and bobsleigh events to start.

if the Hip had broken into Killer Whale Tank during that, I would have been impressed.  The lypsynching (all of them I think) sucked.  Sing a fucking song already.

Canada won a silver medal in woman's moguls. Canadian woman's hockey team won 18-0  :shock: New Olympic record.

Imo, there is no way that K.D. Lang lipsynced that song.  She did a amazing rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". Wasn't into her music when she was popular so I didn't realize what a fantastic voice she has.   :congrats:

I've never been a fan of Bryan Adams and I never will.  I have liked a couple of Ms. Fertado's song early in her career but was less then impressed with her shimmying and sashaying around the stage like she was on one of her own videos shoots.  Well.......I guess if you're not actually singing what else is there left to do.  :P

So my favorite parts would be K.D. Lang's performance, the Native Nations making their entrance and dancing, the tap dancing, kilts and of course the whales.  :)

A silver for Canada in snowboard race down the hill and try not to crash. Some pretty wicked moments today including a guy skiing on one ski for about 5 seconds. Woman's hockey team still doing well. Ice troubles at the long track facility? I think they need our Cappy.

I believe it was a Zamboni malfunction.  It spewed slush and hot water over the ice. Now they are trying to fix the track up.   

We were SO CLOSE to getting another Gold, but those cheeky Americans snuck up on us and beat us by half a board.   ;)

This is my first time watching the Olympics and it's really easy to get caught up in the excitement!

Team USA spanked the Swiss in hockey today.  :)

My 7 year old wore his Team Canada Hockey jersey to school today though.  8) Its "funny" how many people will question a 7 year old as to why he is wearing a Canadian jersey... :roll: He handled it very well though, he told them "...that Canada is COOL and that if they knew ANYTHING about hockey (man, I love this boy) that they would know that the Columbus Blue Jackets TEAM CAPTAIN, Rick Nash was on the Canadian Hockey Team!"

DUH! ROFLMAO!!

Oh and I was VERY proud of my not-so-into-sports oldest son today too...

While we were watching the USA/Swiss hockey game, he pointed out that they were playing The Hip's "My Music At Work" in the arena.  8)

My children have OBVIOUSLY been able to overcome the unfortunate inheriting of their father's genes.  :D

The girls got hollered at for bringing the beer/champagne back out onto the ice but it's great advertising for Canadian.

I am really enjoying the festivities of the Olympics in Vancouver! My son and I went downtown again last night. I NEVER used to go downtown! But it is so exciting, the atmosphere, that we can't get enough of it. Vancouver never used to be this much fun. Here is a clip of the lazer light show that has been on every night during the Olympics. Love the zip liner on the skiis that zoomed over the crowd.
Will miss it all when it is all over.  :(

I visited the Canadian Pavilion yesterday. Had my picture taken with one of the torches. I also got pictures of the Rocket and the Great One's jerseys.
