I know we had a thread but I searched and searched and couldn't find it.
Anyway in a way this could be a spoiler but at work I listen to BBC Radio 1 and yesterday on the news I heard that the actress who played Blanche has died.  I know she had been unwell for quite sometime and hadn't been working for quite a while, but man is it going to be weird watching the show and knowing that in about 9 months she won't be on it anymore...

I also read the news of her death, Hunner.  I too knew she was in the hospital for a while but I was hoping and wishing she'd pull through.  She was a great actress.  I'm going to miss the character of Blanche and her snarky-but-true barbs and here's hoping she's having a large G&T where ever she is now.

I was saddened at the news of this too. Maggie was a fine actress and her character of Blanche was one of my favorites. RIP Maggie.

I taped Sunday's omnibus and watched it today.  It still feels strange to watch Blanche in action knowing she's not here now.  Regardless, the old gal made me chuckle with her snarky observations and opinions.

I'm still wishing Jason was my pool-boy.  I don't have a pool, I just happen to wish big.

Wow I didn't know that you got Coronation Street in Canada!
I don't watch it much myself but Blanche was one of my favourite characters. There is a Rock Radio station in Manchester that plays all of Blanche's best lines, that makes me laugh as I am driving to work! My all time favourite "Ohh that's a nasty gash she had!" I always laugh when they play that.

We're 10 months behind in Canada and it plays on CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation). I am a transplanted Brit myself.

'Cause I was borned in England and it reminds me of home. Love hearing the accents and the British terms they use. Ordinary folk including some LOL moments too. Rare for a soap. Don't want to read any spoilers though. We're 9-10 months behind the English broadcast.

I'm with the Fishman on this.  I love Corrie because it's full of flaws and normal peeps.  It's the only soap that I watch.
